"Ah, I'm going to murder you after this, D-san!"
Noodle screamed at 2-D. The bassist was in execrating pain, and she was screaming in agony. Why you might ask? Well it was because she was giving birth to her and 2-D's child. 2-D was by Noodle's side, smiling at her anxiously and holding her hand tightly.
"C'mon, you can do this Noods! I believe in you!" 2-D encouraged his girlfriend. Noodle squeezed his hand harder.
"Why did you do this me? I feel like I'm being ripped apart!" The Ax-princess screeched as another contraction hit her. Noodle death gripped one of the rails of the hospital bed as she continued to push. 2-D frowned at his girlfriend, he hated seeing her like this. She looked like a banshee. Her dark purple hair was matted and stuck out in all directions, and her typical glowing tan skin was incredibly pale and colorless.
"You are doing well, Miss Noodle! I can see the child's head. Keep pushing." The midwife who was assisting Noodle during her birth gave her a quick thumbs up.
A few hours passed. And after hours of scream and agonizing pain, the cries of their child were finally heard.
"Congrats, Miss Noodle and Mr Pot. It's a girl." A nurse grabbed the newly born infant and wrapped her in a pink blanket. She placed her in Noodle's arms.
2-D's eyeless sockets grew tears of joy once he heard the cries of his daughter. He leaned over Noodle and smiled.
"You did great Noods!" Noodle narrowed her eyes at him and smiled weakly. "She's so beautiful."
The baby had wisps of azure hair, and Noodle's tan skin. She was sleeping, so 2-D couldn't see her eyes, but 2-D assumed she had Noodle's eyes as well.
"Can I hold her?" 2-D asked. Noodle weakly nodded and he picked her up from her arms. 2-D smiled down at the infant.
"Hi angel," 2-D croaked, sounding like he was on the verge of tears. "I'm your daddy. You are only seconds old and you don't even know me, but I already love you."
A nurse came over to 2-D and Noodle. The couple looked over at her.
"What's her name?" The nurse asked. Noodle narrowed her eyes at the medical professional.
"Kazumi. Kazumi Evangeline Pot." Noodle told the nurse as she wrote the baby's name on the certificate.
2-D smiled warmly. "That's a beautiful name." He said to the Ax-princess as he gently kissed her cheek.
As 2-D was cooing at the baby, Noodle's eyes slowly closed, and she slumped down a little on the bed. Noticing this, 2-D looked over from his daughter to his girlfriend. An expression between worried and confused formed on his face. What was going on with Noodle? Was she falling asleep?
"Baby? Baby are you ok?" 2-D cried in a panic. "Noodz? What's going on?"
Doctors started to surround Noodle, performing various procedures on her and writing down notes.
"What's wrong with Noodle?" 2-D asked. A doctor turned to the singer.
"She's lost alot of blood and she's very weak," He replied. "Birth put alot of stress and pain on her body. I'm sorry, Mr Pot, but there's an unlikely chance she might make it."
2-D was at an utter loss for words. It felt like a knife had been jabbed into his heart and it was slowly twisting in deeper. His beloved girlfriend, Noodle, the strong, talented bassist of the Gorillaz, was dying and there was nothing he could do about it.
"NO! That can't be true!" 2-D screamed, disbelieved. "She has to live! Kazumi needs her! I need her! My friends need her! She can't just die!" 2-D yelled, tears rolling down his face.
"I'm sorry Mr. Pot, but we can do much now." The doctor responded to the singer. "I'll take your daughter. We need to run some tests on her and she needs to recover. You can take her home tomorrow."
2-D was reluctant to hand Kazumi over, but agreed. He carefully handed his daughter to the doctor. He walked out of the hospital room to the waiting room. It was going to be hard breaking the news to Murdoc and Russel.
He walked out of the hospital room down to the waiting room. Murdoc and Russel were sitting in the chairs, both staring at the wall until they saw 2-D.
"So, pops, how was witnessing "the miracle of birth" go?" Murdoc teased, crossing his arms. 2-D just sighed.
"Um...good, Noodle gave birth to a girl, her name is Kazumi Evangeline Pot." 2-D awkwardly smiled, but it quickly was replaced with a somber, worried look. "S-she's...um..." 2-D trailed off, shivering slightly and cowering away from his friends like he was about to cry.
"That's a pretty name, D," Russel commented, a concerned look on his face. He could tell something was off with his friend. "Is baby girl alright?"
2-D turned over to Russel. He was silent for a moment before he forced himself to speak. "Well...um...s-she's..." 2-D croaked, forcing the words out of his throat. Then his legs collapsed onto the floor and he started to wail loudly. "She's...in very bad condition."
Murdoc and Russel's eyes both widened. They couldn't believe what they just heard.
"Can we go see her?" Russel asked. 2-D looked over at the drummer.
"Yeah, I guess," He stated. "But I think you need to keep your distance."
The three of them then all walked together to Noodle's hospital room. They were happy to see baby Kazumi, but were crushed when they saw Noodle's condition.
Russel tapped a random nurse on the shoulder. The nurse turned around to look at him. "Excuse me," He asked. "I hope you don't mind me asking, but do you know what's wrong with Noodle?"
"Well, she lost alot of blood and the stress and pain of birth made her very weak.'' The nurse sighed sadly. "I'm very sorry, but she has less than an hour to live. Would you all like to be alone?"
Russel was silent. He honestly couldn't believe it. "Yes, we would. Thank you." Russel answered for the group. The nurse politely nodded and left the room.
Russel went over to 2-D and put a hand on his shoulder. He turned over at the drummer. The azure-haired singer had blotchy skin and looked like he was crying for hours.
"C'mon, D," Russel said to the singer. "Let's say goodbye to baby girl. She doesn't have much long to live, so you should take time to spend her last moments with her."
"I-I can't Russ," He croaked. "It's too painful."
"We're all in pain D," Russel tried to comfort him. "But it's only going to hurt you more if you don't say goodbye to her. Here, I'll help you up."
Russel helped 2-D up and they both slowly walked over to the side of Noodle's bed. Murdoc was standing at the end of the bed. His arms were crossed and he was silent the whole time. He watched Noodle's body with an emotionless, stoic look on his face, but 2-d and Russel could tell that deep down he was hurt as well.
Then Noodle slowly opened her eyes. The trio were taken back, but they smiled at Noodle.
She smiled warmly at them. "Hey guys." She muttered. "I'm aware my time is limited. D-san..Mud-san...Russ-san..thank you for everything. You all are like family to me."
Murdoc slightly smirked at her. "Where gonna miss ya dearly, love," He replied.
Russel was on the verge of tears. "Thanks for everything, baby girl. You'll always live on in our memories."
2-D walked closely to Noodle. He grabbed her hand tightly and kissed it. "I love you, Noodle." A few tears escaped his eyeless sockets.
With that, Noodle took her last breath, and the line on Noodle's life support machine went straight as a shrill sound emerged. 2-D, Russel, and even Murdoc broke down into tears. Noodle, the seventeen year old bassist of Gorillaz, was dead.
