Spoilers for the (awesome!) new movie. Rated T for implications.

"So, um… pretzel lady?"

Sonic glanced in the rearview mirror as he cheerfully weaved through San Francisco rush hour. Maddie had paused somewhere between screwing her eyes shut and clinging to the seat for dear life to look at him curiously.

(Tom continued to do both of those things.)

The blue hedgehog grinned and turned the steering wheel. "Yeah! Like it?"

"I don't mind," Maddie responded, subtly checking that her seatbelt was still fastened, "but why do you keep calling me that?"

There was a loud screech as her sister's car was rudely grazed against another – much more expensive-looking – vehicle. Sonic waved cheerfully at the other driver.

"Because you have no bones!"

"No bo– "

"Whoops, hang on!" The car leaped over a speed bump, and the human woman felt her body briefly leave the seat. Tom let out a terrified shriek and grabbed her arm. She sighed.

"Where did you learn how to drive? And what do you mean, 'no bones'?"

"Tom taught me!"

Maddie looked at her husband. Still clinging to her arm, he slowly opened his eyes, shook his head and mouthed 'nope'.

"Also, you're as flexible as piece of string, so I'm pretty sure," Sonic swerved to avoid a lamp post, "that you have no bones."

The couple in the backseat stared at him for a few long moments, during which time Sonic – by some miracle – managed to avoid two mailboxes, a bus and several innocent pedestrians.

"What do you mean flexible?!" Maddie yelled at the same time Tom cried 'How would you know that?!" Startled, Sonic jerked the wheel and clipped a building, taking out one of the headlights.

"That thing you do every morning!" He called back defensively, driving off the sidewalk. "On the porch, with the TV on. Like, for real," he turned to look at them, oblivious to the chaos being left in his wake, "you can put your feet on your shoulders. How do you even–"

"TRUCK!" They both screamed at him.

Narrowly avoiding that, Sonic looked out the window for any other threats.

"Oh hey, look! There's that building. Guess we're almost there."

"Oh thank god." Maddie sighed in relief. Tom slumped back in the seat in agreement.

A/N Guys, I was SO. FREAKING. HAPPY. At how well the new movie was received. It's brilliant! Anyway, this idea came to mind and I decided to write it.
