'ONE STOP'

Wow this story came to me as I was writing chapters for my other stories, so having a bit of writers block thought this would help with that. And boy it has. So allow me to introduce this short fic, only a few chapters. Hope you enjoy.

Chapter 1

'No Not Now'

"I wanna be a movie star, I wanna be a roaring race car driv...er, I wanna..." Grrrrch, wrrrch, clank, putt, putt, errreh, spiff, spiff grrrrgh. The raven haired female stopped singing when her car just made funny noises and everything sounded like spiff grrrrgh and the car just died on her.

No matter how many times she tried to restart the car while in the first lane of traffic it just erred and ticked, so before she got stranded in traffic she slowly rolled to the side of the road out of harm's way when her car finally rolled to a stop with a sppprrriiggsh. Putting the car into gear she tried to start it again.

"Oh come on start." The young female tried and tried again but no use. The car would not start.

"No not now, come on I'm going to miss my business meet with Mr. Tatsuhisa." The playgirl image of Kamijo Tatsuhisa appeared within her mind. Tall handsome boyishly styled brown hair, sparkling hazel eyes and cute ass. A car horn sounded in the road breaking the female from her reverie.

"No, no, no, no! Not today, how could you fail me now of all times." Getting out of her car she popped the hood open to look and see if she could figure out what went wrong.

"OMG, what is that burning smell? What happened to you 'Baby Blue'?" The female couldn't see anything but the engine and the burning smell of oil and motor.

The young female decided that she wasn't about to figure this out on her own and she needed help quick. So with a sigh she left the hood up and walked back to the driver seat of the car dipping in through the open window she grabbed her cellphone from the hands free holder pressing the two digits on the phone she waited as the other end rang several times before being picked up.

"Hey, I thought you had a business meet with that hunk Tatsuhisa?" The female heard her best friend Sango speak before another popped on the phone saying.

"Ya Kagome, you need to get laid sometime or you'll end up and old prune." Turning red the female now known as Kagome fumed hearing what her friends brother had to say.

'The nerve of that kid.' Retorting back she said the only thing she could.

"Well, I'm saving myself for Mr. Good'N'Enough!" She said into the phone. Kagome could hear the squabble over the phone when she heard a thwack which meant the phone hit the floor seconds later she heard the 'Ow, ow, ow leggo my ear Sango. Hey not the arm, not the arm ouch Sango that hurt!' Then the door slammed shut cutting the brother off during his cry of pain.

"Ugh, sorry about that Kagome." Sango added as she picked up the dropped cell phone.

"I don't know what's gotten into him lately. He's been like that for almost a month now." Tugging her brown hair into a twist Sango grabbed a hair tie to pin her hair up so she could get ready for work.

"It seems like his hormones are acting up. By chance a new girl turned him down?" Looking in both directions Kagome checked for any vehicles coming down the road before she opened her door to get in the drivers seat.

"Never know but I don't like it. But never mind that why the call? Shouldn't you be nearing your business meet?" Sango the ever curious wondered why Kagome would call her when she had just spoken to her an hour ago.

"Ugh... My car literally died on me while on my way to the meeting with Mr. Tatsuhisa. Fate must have it in for me Sango, I swear its been one thing or another when it comes to gaining this account." Sango listened to her frazzled friend as she poured her heart out.

"You should call him and explain what happened perhaps he'll wait until you get there." Hearing a sigh on the other end, Sango knew it was not going to be easy with getting the male to agree to staying if Kagome already had a hard time catching his business account.

"I will, but I was wondering if you could get Miroku to pick me up. I'm going to have my car towed to the nearest repair shop. I can't mess this up Sango, I worked so hard to get this account." Tears leaked from her misty blue-gray eyes as she recalled all the hard work. Sango listened wanting to comfort her friend.

Two months of research, coding, cataloging, devising plans and security had to be for nothing. Days and nights she worked diligently having missed time with her family and friends when all she could think of was winning this consignment for it would be the push in the right direction to open her own company.

"I'm gonna put you on hold let me call Miroku and you call Tatsuhisa. Oh wait, you didn't tell me where you were!" Sango almost panicked for a second there.

"I'm on highway 291, between... let's see. The sign ahead says S26 so that means S27 is behind me Sango." Kagome squinted her eyes blocking the sun with her left hand as she looked ahead. Checking the time on her watch she was still relatively early hardly any traffic at all.

"Okay, putting you on hold for a moment." Without waiting Sango switched over calling Miroku for a favor. Meanwhile Kagome huffed deciding to call Tatsuhisa's office to let his secretary know of her situation and that she'd be no more than twenty minutes late knowing it was inconvenience to her boss but she appreciate the time he could give her.

"Good morning, SANA Enterprises. Mrs. Gima speaking, how may I be of service?" Kagome waited for her entrance once the secretary finished her friendly and optimistic opening.

"Hello and good morning Mrs. Gima, this is Kagome Higurashi..." The secretary cut her off.

"Oh, Ms. Higurashi, have you retrieved the message I left for you earlier this morning at your residence." Kagome blinked in surprise she sputtered for a second giving the secretary time to understand.

"As I am now aware you have not retrieved that message. Please allow me to explain that message." Now Kagome was at a loss. She didn't know what to think. So what about their schedule meeting?

"I'm afraid that Mr. Tatsuhisa had an emergency meeting with the board. I am sure you will receive a call to rearrange the meeting for another day." Kagome was dumbfounded here she was about to confess her inability to meet with her client when it turns out he couldn't meet with her. What were the odds.

A happy Kagome spoke. "I see, very well please give me a call when another meeting can be arranged then. Well have a great day Mrs. Gima." Kagome listened for the soft click on the end when tears of relief and frustration pricked at the corner of her eyes. Hearing the double click she switched the call back over waiting to hear what Sango had to say.

"Kagome, you there..."

"Yeah, yes I'm... here."

"I take it you made the call then."

"Yes, but apparently Mr. Tatsuhisa had an emergency board meeting. So we won't be meeting today..." Sango blinked hearing her friend sound sad however, relieved giving her another chance with the meeting.

"Well that's good, at least you know your not going to be late." She tried to cheer her friend up not being able to see her friends feelings over the call.

"Yes, but I feel that something is still off balance."

"Kagome, don't think into it, you have a habit of talking yourself down now just allow yourself a sigh of relief. Okay. Besides Miroku is on his way to get you and help with your car." Feeling bad that she upset her friend Kagome did as told. Taking a deep breath then letting it out slowly, did make Kagome feel a bit better.

"See, so how do you feel now?"

"Better, what would I do without you Sango."

"You'd sit in the car and cry your heart heart knowing I was not there." Kagome giggled as did Sango the girls talked of nothing and everything while Sango got ready for work and Kagome waited for Miroku to show.

"Oh, I see Miroku coming."

"About time he drives so slow."

"Wouldn't blame him the road is icy."

"True, but he takes it to new levels." Sango laughed knowing Kagome got the inside joke.

"Oh, your so bad Sango. But I do admit he does drive like old Mushin." Both laughed once more before Sango gave her best and that she'd see her later.

"Bye, Sango have a good day." Kagome stood watching as her childhood friend Miroku pulled in behind her. Walking over to him she gave him a hug and he returned the gesture with his hand moving slowly lower before he yelped due to his hand being zapped by the female he was currently hugging.

"Ouch that hurt..." Releasing the female he looked to his hand. Damn, that was going to leave a mark. Sango was going to kill him.

"You used your reiki, how on Earth did you learn to harm a human." Kagome laughed.

"Practice, but it only works in small doses." Miroku gave her a look of disbelieve. It shouldn't be possible. But then again Kagome was an enigma even for him and they grew up together going between shrines and temples to learn all they could about being a miko and monk.

"You gotta show me that. It would come in handy at one point of time." Kagome smiled watching him try to remove the reiki burn. Feeling sorry for him she told him to lay his hand in hers. He wagged his eyebrows causing her to spark him to gain his attention.

"Un... Man, that bite does get ones attention." Kagome looked at him with that goofy smile she gives when being playful.

"You'd break every heart with that look Kag's." The looked wiped from her face hearing what he said.

"It's not my intention to break hearts Miroku. But I do understand. So thank you anyways. Now watch and feel what I'm about to do." Miroku nodded watching Kagome call back her reiki she zapped into his skin. The blue glow of her reiki at her fingertips barely touched his skin. Warmth flooded his senses he could read all that she was in that small touch and then he knew. She gave him a gift meant to use wisely.

"Incredible, seriously you have done the what others only wished they could do. I thank you for teaching me that little trick. I'm afraid if others tried most would just like to purify than give a little zap." Kagome nodded in agreement these days it was rare to find a true miko or monk which is what Kagome and Miroku were.

"Thank you again my dear sweet Kagome for that that gift but lets see what's going on with your car, shall we." Kagome followed telling him what she heard and the smell when she opened the hood of the car.

"I hate to say this but it looks like a gasket is bad! Which one I don't know but this car definitely needs some TLC." Kagome looked at him with narrowed eyes.

"No, its not what you're thinking Kagome. I know you take very good care of Blue" Wiping the invisible sweat away from his brow.

"Hm. Now where could we tow the car?" Kagome just shook her head not knowing where to go. She'd call her old mechanic but that shop moved across town. Miroku took a good hard look in either direction then he knew where to have the car towed.

"There's that chain of gas marts that work on cars and from what I heard from Jiji they did a great job on his engine and paid a decent price for it to be fixed." Kagome only knew a few things about vehicles repairing them was not one of them. Hearing what Miroku just said about the gas mart, sounded great for her little Baby Blue.

"Then its settled we'll have Baby Blue towed to this Gas Mart place." Miroku smiled at Kagome while closing the hood of the car.

Pulling out his cell phone he looked up the nearest shop. Finding one a few miles down the road he then proceeded to call and have them come to pick up the car. An energized Kagome lightly bounced on her feet. Miroku could only smile as his friend. She had a way about her that defied what she was making her irresistible to the opposite sex. While waiting Miroku and Kagome talked about their jobs. However when Kagome mentioned SANA Enterprises the look Miroku gave had her worrying.

"What?"

"You said SANA Enterprises"

"You know I did Miroku... Why? What do you know? Spill!" Kagome demanded. With a smile Miroku knew this was the time he could get a much needed favor from his dear sweet little Kagome.

"Its going to cost you..." Kagome narrowed her eyes.

"I do know something HUGE... But if you don't want to know then I won't ask the favor I need from you." Kagome knew he wasn't lying but why was he asking a favor now unless he did something stupid again and didn't want Sango to find out.

"What did you do?"

"Oh my poor abused ears, I did not just hear you say I did something, Ka-go-me..." Throwing her hands up Kagome and gave a pointed look.

"Ugg. Fine... Better not involve a blind date or a cover story for your wandering hand." Miroku explained that the stock market was holding on the shares of SANA. Kagome frowned that was the big news. Some help he was. Miroku also told Kagome a secret he's been hiding a secret from Sango and her for the last four months. He Smiled down at the petite female as he explained what he needed. Kagome stood in shock, she thought it was romantic.

"So that's the story, I've waited until I got my promotion to finalize the purchase of the ring. Sango's going to love it I'm sure. It cost a pretty penny but nothing is too good for the love of my life." Kagome's tears ran down her face putting her fist in her mouth to keep from shouting in glee.

Miroku kept speaking to Kagome all about the engagement getaway he had planned for Sango and him. It was no wonder Miroku asked of this huge favor. To take a day off of work to help her two cherished best friends for their special day. Kagome didn't need Miroku to ask for the favor, hell she'd do it just to see the look on her best girl friends face when she found out she helped with it. Oh the joy.

"You know Sango would never go to Honshū let alone the Palace Hotel, if she didn't have a good reason. How can I surprise her with my marriage proposal if I can't get her to go." An exasperated male waited for the outburst his friend would make after a few seconds hearing nothing he looked between his fingers that covered his face from view and almost laughed at what he saw.

Kagome blinked while biting on her fist. Gathering her bearings she owlishly looked at him. Taking her fist away from her face the smile she wore could have blinded him with how she sparkled when happy.

"I am going to propose to Sango but I need your help to get her there at a certain day and time. I want it to be romantic take her out to the one place she's been wanting to go for years but never had the time."

"Oh my gosh I can't believe it. My Miroku has grown up. Sango will be so thrilled."

"So I take that as a yes." He looked at Kagome with a knowing grin that was no longer boyish.

"Yes, how can I not be there for my two best friends." Wrapping her arms around Miroku Kagome hugged him thanking him for confiding in her.

"Hm... How to get Sango to go there with me. What would be a good excuse?" Miroku pulled away watching Kagome as her thoughts ran full circle knowing she'd come up with something.

"I could say I have a business meeting and I didn't want to go alone, and that it would give us a girls day out." Kagome happily chatted giving him information that would impress Sango. Miroku nodded in agreement, leave it to Kagome to come up with the right answers.

"Just get everything together and trust me she'll not have a clue. Oh and be prepared for her to go clothes shopping for the right outfits when I tell her. Dress to impress baby." Miroku just laughed causing Kagome to giggle in return.

"She will be so happy, I'm proud of you."

"I know you are. I've become a grown up. Hard to believe."

"True, true. So are you going to have an engagement party after you guys come back?" The look on his face said it all. Of course they would how could they not. How could he say no to a party...

"Hey. Come on you know me..." Miroku teased making Kagome smile even more.

"That's a yes oh I'm so stoked I can't wait." Kagome was just so happy Miroku didn't want to burst her bubble yet as she hugged him once more crushing his form as she cried happy tears.

Kagome was just so happy Miroku finally got the balls to propose to his girlfriend of three years. Tears of happiness began to fall, Miroku using a hankey dried Kagome's tears when they heard the honk of a truck. Looking over Miroku's shoulder Kagome spied the name on the tow truck being from the One Stop shop Miroku called to pick up her car.

Pulling away from Miroku lest his cursed hand decided to roam even after his declaration Kagome beamed at him with a smile so bright it could blind someone. Looking at the tow truck back up to her car Kagome spied someone through the back windshield that had ONE STOP across it. Was that silvery-white hair.

Ahh man a cliffhanger …..
