Hello guys, have you ever read the manga Pulse? I recommend it to you :) I brought it here as Brittana story, it changes a little bit, but stays pretty loyal.. I'm still not english so I apologize for my eventual mistakes. Hope you like it.

Heart.. One of the most important organs in our body, if it stops beating then you're gone, it's concrete.. Real.. Then how did it got involved with something abstract as love? How can people assume that someone can make their heart stop as they see for the first time? Or that you can chose with your heart? It's impossible. A heart is a heart, and does nothing more that its real function.

How can one organ change two people life?

Cardiologist Brittany Pierce gets out of the OR, taking off her mask, she walks to the relatives of the man she just operated. She doesn't hear some of the nurses and doctors around the desk talking about her, but she knows what they're saying anyway.

It's not a secret that doctor Pierce is a player and a lesbian, she fooled around with some nurse in the hospital and also with some doctor, but she made clear what she wanted from them. Even so, she attracts people around her, maybe its her piercing gaze, or her appearance, or just that people wants what they can't have. She's not ashamed of her acts, she's doing nothing bad, she just doesn't want to get in a relationship.

After she spoke to the relatives she goes on the cafeteria to eat her usual apple, a red hair intern sits on her table, they start chatting but it's pretty clear where this is going to end up, smiles, flirting, closeness.. Brittany gets up and walks to a room, the intern follows her, she locks the door and pins the girl against it.

Once she has done, she lets the girl get dressed while she only puts her white coat back and walks out like nothing happened. That it's what it's for her, sex and fun, she doesn't want to fall in emotions, she stays in control of the situation, of her feelings. This is what her day are mostly, work and sex.

After work she goes to her apartment, it's close the hospital, nothing too big or small, she puts on a pair of jeans,a shirt and her leather jacket and gets out, it's time to chill out, she drives her latest red Audi TT to the usual club..

Some drinks and she starts looking around, people are dancing around, some people got eyes on her and she eyed some girls too, but only one of them gets the courage to go to her, she finishes her drinks in one sip and smiles to the brunette in front of her.

"It's loud here, would you like to go to my place?" It seems the girl was searching for what exactly Brittany was searching too.

Her phone rings, covering part of her face with her hand she looks at it, emergency case, she turns and realize she stayed over last night, a night full of sex where she barely got touched, she usually "does the work", she likes to be in charge, it' not like she dominates or things like that, but she takes the lead.

She drives fast to the hospital, she walks to the OR while giving her things to one nurse, the other one is telling her all the details reading the chart, she ties her hair and enters the room while the nurses look her in awe.

She loves her job and she's really good at it, but not always you can succeed, like in this case things gets difficult but she stays calm and does whatever she can to save the patient's life, but sometimes it's not enough. She leaves the patient and goes to wash her face, letting frustration go out of her self, the other doctor joins her and tries to reassure her, it was a long operation and he was really badly injured from the accident he got into, she thanks him for his words and leaves.

She changes her closes and puts on her glasses before going to the waiting room searching for the relatives, she talks to them following the usual "script" you should use in this case, she stays calm and stiff.

She doesn't notice a girl watching her with curious eyes.

Brittany is relaxing near the stairs drinking coffee she watches people walking by downstairs, she had her professional suit on, a skirt with a shirt and little heels under her feet, the girl who was watching her walks by her when she notices her, she walks back..

"Do you feel any empathy for the families you talk to?" She was not judging her, it was just a question, but since Brittany didn't even noticed her .

"Wh-what?" She asked confused making a funny face, this girl popped up from nowhere talking to her, she looks at her and see she's wearing the usual patient gown suit with a sweatshirt on.

"Sorry, my name is Santana, I noticed you this morning and I wanted to ask you something, are you free doctor ..?" Santana says getting really close to her to watch the badge under her shoulder "Doctor Brittany?" She says cheerfully, giving Brittany a huge smile, but Brittany is still confused by such appearance.

"Okay, I think.. I didn't get what you said, you wanted to ask something?"

"Yes, I wan-" She gets interrupt by Brittany's phone.

"I'm sorry it's an urgent case I really have to go" Brittany runs away leaving the girl in the hallway.

"Busy busy doctor" She murmurs taking Brittany previous place thinking about her situation.

Santana is a really cheerfully girl, but sometimes when no one is looking at her she gets lost in her thoughts, her face can conveys peace but also some kinda sadness.

Brittany enters the room checking the radiography, she sees nothing good, she informs the nurse to prepare the patient, she has to operate, on her way out she meets another doctor who asks her opinion since she was there. Looking at the chart she finds the case interesting and sad too, the patient is so young for having a heart disease, then the other doctor takes the photo that fell from the chart.

It's the girl from the hallway, Santana, a young and cheerful girl who has to spend her life in hospital if she doesn't get a heart transplant and maybe even later. What surprised Brittany even more is that she didn't sign for the transplant operation, she leaves the room and walks away, on her way she still thinks about it, not even knowing why. She doesn't even know her, she's not the first young patient she has met in a hospital, so why? Why think about her?

She hears some noise and go toward there, she seems some nurses near the room, she opens the door and a pillow smashes against her face.

"You're on your own now, sign that stupid thing!" A girl says running out the room.

"RACHEL WHAT THE HELL, COME BACK HERE!" Santana shouts from the bed.

"Umh, what's happening here?" Brittany asks, she hears lots of murmurs and turn, all the nurses are watching them so she closes the door.

"My stupid cousin happens"

"This is a hospital you know?! A quiet place?!" Brittany trying to keep her face straight, but anyone could see she wanted to smile.

"Why exactly are you here? You're not my doctor"

"I'll check up anyway"
"But I'm so sick of it, I'm tired" Santana says covering her face with the pillow. Brittany takes her chart to take a look, then she looks up at her.

"You shouldn't fight, it's not good for your condition" Santana rolls her eyes.

"Well if you knew Rachel.." She murmurs

"She probably cares about you, relatives usually do that" She looks down again at the chart.

"Just because she's the only family I have it doesn't mean she has to harass me, I have my reasons, are you trying to making me feel bad?!" Santana says putting on a sad face!

"What?! No! I was jus-" Says looking around nervously.

"Because you're a doctor, your work is to make people feel better not worse, are you a bad doctor?"

"No I'm not, in fact I'm one of-"

"Well, then you could apologize to me maybe with a lunch?" Santana says daring her with her eyes.

"Fine, I'll treat you a meal to shut you up someday .." She sees Santana hopeful eyes " Soon, now remove your shirt, still checking you up"

As soon Brittany takes the stethoscope near her, Santana's face changes, she gets almost blank, she opens her shirt holding it tight so it wouldn't slip and shows all her breast and looks away, she gets shy and Brittany gets surprised, she doesn't even seem the same girl. She hears her heart beats and asks her for deep breaths, after awhile she looks up at her face and when she sees Santana looking back she immediately looks away and steps back.

"You seem fine, I'm gonna go now, try to not exaggerate" She opens the door.

"Don't forget the lunch!" Santana says smiling to her, it seems she's back.

Brittany smiles to her and closes the door, she leans against and looks down, she felt weird, what happened? What's wrong with that girl? What's wrong with her? She looks around and then walks away.
