So, these are some short stories prompted by short head canons that I read online on stuff like tumblr, pinterest, instagram, etc (and you've probably seen them too). Basically, I'm taking the head canons that are only a few sentences to a paragraph and trying to make an actual thorough short story based off them. The upload schedule for this isn't anything planned, just more as I get inspired or bored with my other stories, I'll write and upload them. Let me know in the comments or send me private messages about any ideas you have for short stories or your own head canons and of course if you even like these. These DO NOT mean an end to my other stories, this is more just a "I'm bored and wanted to write something so here it is" kinda thing when I'm just not in the mood to write for my other stuff, which will hopefully keep me from getting bored with the other stuff. Also, I will probably try and tie all these stories into one another just to make them a bit interesting, but sorry if a few seem to deviate from that. Hopefully you like it enough to follow, favorite, review, etc… ENJOY!
Story #1 – The Sparring Session
Pain. Unimaginable, horrific, intolerable pain. Lungs burning, skin boiling over, hair singing, blinding pain.
"You will never leave this place," a distant voice called, but he knew that voice. "You will fail, like you always have." He couldn't get out a single word, a silent scream on his lips, as he fell into the darkness below…
Percy bolted straight up in bed, drenched in sweat, eyes bulging, gasping for air. He looked over at his alarm clock and groaned. '4:34 a.m. on a Monday, so much for getting any sleep. Wonder how Mrs. Jones will react to me falling asleep in Chemistry today?' he thought sarcastically, already anticipating another detention after school.
It was 4 months after the end of the 2nd Giant War, and Percy was back home enrolled in Goode High School. People had been a little weirded out that he had left for no reason and come back suddenly after so many months, but a little trick of the mist had cleared everything up. Luckily, he hadn't gotten expelled yet, actually managing to stay in one school for more than a year, but that didn't stop his frequent detentions for falling asleep in class.
The nightmares plagued him every night. Images and scenes of Tartarus flashing through his mind again and again. It had been manageable at camp with Annabeth there, but now that the school year had started and he couldn't be with her all the time, it was rather… difficult, to put it mildly.
Sighing, he got out of bed, getting dressed in a pair of sweatpants, t-shirt, and sneakers before grabbing his bag and heading to school. Exercise always helped him clear his head, and thankfully being the best swimmer in his school had the perks of getting him his own pair of gym keys so that he could get in when no one else was there.
It was 5:07 by the time he parked his bike at the side of the school near the gym entrance. Fumbling with the keys for a moment, he let himself in, letting out the breath he didn't even realize he was holding in. Even just being in the gym, where he knew he could take out his frustration with no consequences, was a huge relief.
Expecting no one else to show this early in the morning, Percy took off his shirt and kicked off his shoes like he liked to when working out. For someone who had so many body image and self-confidence issues, he admitted he had a toned body and it gave him a big enough mental boost when he looked in the wall mirror while working out that it helped.
He placed his stuff down next to the punching bags, giving himself a slight stretch, before hammering away at them. Right hook, left hook, jab jab jab, kick. Duck, jab, right hoock, kick. Smack, smack, smack, the sounds of his fists hitting the hard leather resonating in the otherwise silent gym room. As he began to go faster, he begrudgingly began to picture faces on the bag where his fists landed. Gaia, Tartarus, Echidna, Dr. Thorn, Kronos, Atlas, Octavian, Hera, Ares, Zeus. The last few faces, Percy had to admit, he didn't mind picturing on the punching bag. But he was so caught up in his reverie of flying fists and feet that he didn't hear the person calling his name, taking quite the shock to knock him out of it.
"WHAT TH-"
"What's up, Kelp Head." Percy smiled an actual, real smile. Something rare for him these days.
"Hey Pinecone Face."

"You're such a dumbass, Charlie." Charlie just winked back at Sofia who glared at him in return.
Three girls, Sofia, Emily, and Jane, and two boys, Charlie and Jake, were walking to the school gym early in the morning. The boys were football players and the girls played soccer, though they were using Sofia's gym key as soccer captain to get in this early. It must've been 5:30 a.m., the sun only a slight hint on the horizon as they made their way through the streets of New York City to Goode High School.
"When's your last game?" Jake asked.
"Thursday, and if we win that it's on to playoffs," Sofia grumbled.
"Jeez, what's got you in such a bad mood?" questioned Charlie.
"Nothing!" She shot back.
"OOO I think it's something…" Jane said with an evil smirk.
"What happened?!" The two boys were clearly intrigued.
"Don't you dare sa-"
"She asked out Percy Jackson on Friday and he said no," Emily just feigned an innocent smile to counteract the look of horror on Sofia's face.
A quiet "Damn" was all the football players could muster, sympathetic from knowing how much Sofia liked him but also a bit jealous because of it (and because of course pretty much every girl at school had a "massive" crush on the blue-eyed mystery boy).
"Did he at least say why?"
"Has a girlfriend."
"I mean, I'd believe that but I've never seen him with one."
"Actually, I'm pretty sure that's true." Sofia shot up at Charlie's words.
"WHAT?! I EMBARRASSED THE HELL OUT OF MYSELF AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME?!"
"Chill, sorry. We sit next to each other in Chemistry and he's always talking to me about this girl named Annabeth. Literally nonstop, it's actually kind of annoying." It was by now that they had reached the door to the gym. Letting themselves in, they nearly all toppled over each other running into a suddenly frozen Sofia. Looking up to where her eyes were staring, the boys all groaned while the girls all dropped their jaws as their eyes bulged, heat rushing to their cheeks.
Standing there, hammering away at a punching bag, was none other than the boy in question: Percy Jackson. And not only that, he was shirtless. The girls, though mainly Sofia, all felt their breath hitch; he was perfect. He was very muscular, sporting a defined six-pack, v-line, biceps, the whole package while also being lean like the amazing swimmer he was, sweat glistening off of his perfectly tanned skin, his hair messy in that beyond cute way, and the look of focus while throwing punches was scary but also VERY hot.
"Nonononono, no, this can't be happening," Sofia shook herself out of her sudden stupor, pulling the group into the side hallway where Percy wouldn't see them. "What do I do?!" she whisper-yelled.
"Chill, don't worry. Percy's a cool guy, he probably won't think anything of it. You'll be fine," Charlie reassured her.
"Fine," she responded, already on her way out after taking a deep breath with the others following when they all stopped at the sound of shouting.
"WHAT TH-"
"What's up, Kelp Head." The group of athletes could see Percy's dazzling smile from where they were hiding, peaking their heads around the corner.
"Hey Pinecone Face. What are you doing here?" They could see a tough looking girl with spiky black hair and a silver outfit on talking to Percy.
"Nothing. We're stopped in the city before heading to camp so I went to see you at your house but your mom said you probably left early for the gym, so I let myself in," she winked at him. Sofia groaned.
"Is that his girlfriend?" Jane whispered.
"Nah, his girlfriend is supposed to be blonde," he whispered back, relieving a little bit of the tension that had built up in her muscles. But their attention was drawn back to the two figures standing in the gym before them.
"Well, I'm bored. Wanna spar?"
"Oh, you're on!" They looked at each other with wicked grins, the girl kicking off her shoes. The both of them got into fighting stances, briefly bewildering the hidden group of teenagers watching them, before they suddenly launched at each other.
They were punching, jumping, rolling, kicking, moving faster than should have been possible; it looked straight out of some blockbuster action movie.
"I didn't know Percy was some sort of martial arts master," Jake whispered incredulously. The others could only nod. "And where did he get all those scars?" Looking closely, they gas ped as they began to notice Percy's entire body was covered in all sorts of scars. Everyone knew about the one on his cheek, but the fact that he had so many made them uneasy. Twenty minutes later, the two were still going at it, their speed only increasing.
"That is SSSOOOO hot," said Jane, taking out her iPhone to take a video. She took about five minutes of video before the two of them started to slow down.
"Shit! We should get out of here. If that's how Percy fights, I'm not sure I want him knowing we were watching." Sofia was the first one to react, jumping up while grabbing the others, dragging them into the hallway they were hidden in, further into the school which would start soon enough. 'So much for the morning workout.'

Percy was feeling great. Despite not sleeping much that night and it being Monday, it had been nice to see Thalia and their spar was exactly what Percy needed. He had taken a shower and gotten changed in the locker room and was now heading to class, not even on-time but early! 'Today might not actually be too bad!' he thought, unaware of what awaited him.
He realized something was off the second he stepped into his first period Chemistry class. As he walked through the doorway, all eyes were immediately on him. Percy tensed up for the moment but kept on walking to his seat. He put his bags down, feeling the peering of everyone's eyes on himself, so he went to talk to his friend Charlie. 'Oh Hades, this is gonna be awkward,' he thought as he realized that he too was staring at him, but also that he was standing next to Sofia who he had turned down right before the weekend.
"Hey Charlie, what's up?" asked Percy. He smiled to Sofia as well, nodding to her, but she just turned her head to avoid him seeing the blush creeping onto her cheeks.
"DUDE?! When were you gonna tell us you were some next John Wick or something?!" Percy stopped dead in his tracks.
"W-w-what?" he squeaked. Charlie just handed Percy his iPhone on which a video was playing off Percy sparring with Thalia earlier this morning. He tried to respond, to say anything, but he couldn't help but just let his mouth open and close like a fish, speechless.
"Percy?" this was a concerned voice now coming from Jane who had shown up behind him. "Where did you get those scars?" The whole class was looking at him expectantly. Percy gulped, just mumbling out the first words that came to his mind, no matter how much he didn't want to, no matter how much they hurt, even if it had more meaning that what it reminded him of.
"I wasn't really that much of a good kid growing up…"
