I'm back with another My Hero Academia story!
This one is set in the future and how being a hero is getting more difficult over the years, so buckle up for the ride.
Also, You don't really have to read the side story, "My Beloved Flower", to make sense; but keep in mind that there may be some small references to it in future stories.
(Note: The title's based on two songs by Purity Ring. If your confused on the choice of the title, just listen to the songs' lyrics and you'll understand. ;D )
Chapter 1: Somewhat calm before the storm
Six years. It's been six years since they graduated from UA high; It's been five since the hero Deku defeated All For One, it's also the day since their beloved Symbol of Peace passed away.
His death sent a wave of people into grief and pain, sending the world into glum, making it even harder for heroes to do their jobs and the villains having a bloodlust wonderland. No one barely believes in heroes anymore, and the percentage of students in hero-ing schools are going down; Parents are fearing for their children's lives and refuse to let them go off into the battlefield, because the villains are out and about, ready to play, ready to kill.
The League of Villains are a lot stronger than before, wilder and more crazier than ever, and there's even other villain leagues that no one knew of until they made their appearances. It's a mess. The world's in disarray right now, but the heroes just have to smile and stay strong even when they're breaking down inside; They have to pretend to be fine, because they are the last hope for peace, to be the people's own Symbol of Peace. But how long will this last? This facade of a game they have to play, how long will it last? How long until one of them can't do it anymore? Till they break down and cry? What will it take for just one of them to shatter completely?

-September-
"Creati! Look out!" yelled a civilian.
Something sharp went across her arm and she hissed, pulling it away from the claws of the villain.
"Are you okay?" another asked.
She bit the inside of her cheek, keeping her cool. "I'm fine. Keep heading for the exit." she replies, creating a shield for herself.
The civilians ran for the exit, out into the streets where the police were. Momo faced her opponent, holding a good stance. The Villain's venomous claws extended at the sight of her, while licking his chapped lips. She cradled her injured arm at the sight.
"Creati, what a pleasure; I didn't think you'd be the one I run into." The villain said, smiling creepily. "I'm sure going to love to turn you into pieces."
He then lunged, his claws colliding with her shield repeatedly. She ran backwards as he kept coming, analysing a plan in her head while they fought. The claws came for her head, she ducked and rolled out of his way, back hitting the wall. She hissed when her bare arm made contact. She could feel her blood boiling and bubbling inside the cut.
"Not good. His claws are venomous, I'm going to need treatment as soon as I'm done with him." Creati thought, keeping her onyx eyes on him.
His claws made contact with the shield again, this time knocking it out of her hands. She quickly makes two things, another shield and a staff, blocking his attack before hitting him point blank in the head. He cursed, but she smiled, because her plan was coming into play.
She could feel the hallway of the city's bank getting colder, A kind of cold she knew too well.
"All I have to do is wait."
He came after her again, claws even longer than before, as she battled him with her weapons, waiting for a perfect moment to strike, which it did. The room got colder, and she knew it was time to set up the grand finale. Her eyes saw an opening, which resulted in her swinging her staff at legs, and upcutting him in the jaw with her shield.
He spit out blood, throwing his head back and cursing. "YOU BITCH!"
With a crazy look in his eyes, he came running,a green ooze producing from his claws. All Creati could do was smirk, simply stepping out of his way at the very last second.
A flash of confusion on his face, before a wall of ice came from behind, engulfing him. The heroine shielded herself, letting frost cover the walls and floors around, giving her the feeling of goosebumps on her exposed puts the shield down slowly to see the hallway, now looking like that winter had just dropped by and covered everything in its way. She sighed in relief, seeing her breath in the cold air along with the villain who was struggling to get out.
"Creati, are you alright?"
She looked where the voice was coming from, it was coming from her partner-in-crime, and husband, Shoto Todoroki.
"I'm okay. Did you get his brother?" she asked him as he came closer to her.
He nods. "Yes. The police are handling him as we speak." Shoto said.
The villain stopped what he was doing, an angry look on his face. "What?! Are you serious?!" He yelled, and let out a frustrated sigh. "See? This is why you don't go into business with your family! Dante always was the weakest when robbing banks! Damn you!"
Micheal and Dante Rameriz, both villains from out of the country. They both were known as the 'Razor Twins' due to their both sharp and venomous claws from their fingertips. Apparently, they thought they could outwit some of Japan's greatest heroes, which they failed at (horribly).
"You should have just stayed in the United States." Shoto said, earning another frustrated groan from the villain. He smirks looking back at his wife, before his face falls. "Your arm." He reaches out and examines it.
"I'll be fine, we still need to clean up." Momo said, ready to take the villain to the cops outside.
He shakes his head. "No, you're not. Those claws have venom in them, we need to take you to the hospital." He starts pulling her away from the crime scene, ignoring her protests on staying till their job was done.
They arrived outside, Shoto managed to tell the police where the villain was before they were swarmed by the press.
"Creati! Winter Inferno! We need to know, how was the fight?" One reporter asked, while shoving a few cameras in the couples' faces. Both of them were getting overwhelmed, but the pro heroes somehow kept their calm composers.
"The fight went well, the villains are captured and everyone in the bank is safe. No more questions." Shoto replies, pushing his way through with his wife in tow.
They somehow managed to get to and inside their car, driving off. Both exhaling heavily.
"Damn, Press." She mumbled, before noticing he was driving a bit fast. "Shoto, don't drive too fast." She warned him, watching his tense body relax.
"Sorry." He replies.
"It's okay."
"I'm just worried, I want to make sure that the venom hasn't gotten into your system too much." His eyes widened. "Oh crap! Maybe I should have put ice on it!"
She touched his shoulder to calm him down. "Shoto, I'm okay. It doesn't even hurt that much." She smiles and he raises a skeptical brow. She sighs. "Fine. It stings."
"I knew it." He replies quitely.
"Shoto." She says with a warning tone to her voice.
They eventually arrive at the hospital, parking the car and heading inside. From there, the pros strolled right up to the desk, Shoto being quicker than Momo.
"Excuse me, ma'am, my wife's hurt badly, she needs a doctor." He said, quickly, nearly scaring the poor receptionist. Momo face palmed.
"So much for calming down." She thinks. "This is embarrassing."
The woman behind the counter stared in surprise. "Uh… Mr. Winter Inferno, this is for Creati, correct?" She asked.
Shoto nodded. "Yes."
"Uh, Okay, here. Fill this out please." She hands him a clipboard (which he gladly took) and waved over a nurse.
A nurse came over to Momo and gestured her to follow. "Mrs. Creati, please follow me."
"Okay." Momo said, looking back at her husband. "Shoto, I'm going to head back."
"Go ahead, I'll finish up." He replies, sparing a quick glance before continuing to fill out the paperwork.
*Break*
"Well, everything seems pretty good to me." The doctor replies, after he finished bandaging her arm.
She smiled and gave a reassuring look to her husband, who was standing next to her. "So, I'm okay?" Momo asked.
"Yes, you are. I don't really see an infection and the stinging feeling will go away soon, so you should be fine. Although,I'm going to run a blood test on the sample I took today just to be sure."
She stands up and gives him a bow. "Thank you, doctor."
He gives her a small wave, chuckling. "Don't mention it, it's the least we doctors can do, you heroes are the reason are streets are safe to walk in."
The older man missed the way the two heroes glanced over each other, frowning worriedly. "If only he knew how bad it was getting." they thought.
"You should be getting a call from me either tonight or tomorrow at the latest. So just go home and get some rest, and make sure you keep the bandages clean." He continues, walking over to the door.
"I'll be sure to do that." Shoto replies, smirking, making Momo blush.
"Shoto." She pouts.
The Doctor laughs again, opening the door for the couple. "My granddaughter's going to be so jealous I met you two. She just loves superheroes."
"Well, tell her we say, 'Hi." Momo replies.
"I sure will."
*Break*
"I think you were being a little overdramatic." Momo said, drying off her wet hair with a towel.
"I wasn't." Shoto replies from their master bathroom.
She rolled her eyes, shifting her position on their bed. "Whatever you say."
"I am not. And I can hear the sarcasm in your voice."
She laughs and the door opens to reveal him in his boxers. The steam from the shower coming into their room only to dissolved into thin air.
"I love your annoyed face." she said, tossing her towel at him.
He catches it. "And I love your mischievous smirk." He says, throwing her towel into the hamper in the process of drying off his two-colored hair. After somewhat drying it, he disposes it and comes over to her.
"Still protective as always." Momo touches his chest as he leans down near her face.
"And you're not?" He raised a brow before kissing her.
She pulls him down onto the bed, giving him another passionate kiss before lying down together. "I love you."
"I love you, too." He strokes her cheeks, eyes softening. "Promise me you'll be careful when I go out of town on Thursday?"
"I will, don't you worry." She says, taking one of his hands into one of her own. But his eyes began to wander.
"I don't think you'll get those test results tonight…" He said.
"I thought I told you not to worry." She gives him a tiny flick to the forehead.
He blinks. "Yeah, I know…. Sorry."
She giggles. "Get some sleep." And she rolls away to her side of the bed.
"Aw, I don't want to." he whines, pulling the blankets over him.
"I do, I'm tired." She crawls under the covers with him.
"Okay…" He sighed in defeat, coming closer to her to cuddle.
She hums to herself, feeling him close. "You're warm…"
"You're laying on my fire side, what did you expect?" He asks, tucking a strand of her black hair behind her ear, watching her eyes close to his touch.
"I know, it's perfect. I'm kind of cold." She admits, cuddling closer.
"Cold? The fall winds haven't even picked up yet."
"I know, but for some reason I am. It's perfect though."
"Whatever you say, honey." Shoto reaches over and turns the lamp off, engulfing the married couple in darkness. He quickly wrapped his arms around her form, eyes drifting closed as well. "I'm so glad I married you…" he whispers, burying his face into her hair.
"Me too. Goodnight, Shoto." She whispers back.
"Night, Momo."
*Break*
Shoto woke up to his wife puking the next morning. He stood behind the closed bathroom door, knocking. "Momo, are you alright?" He asked, waiting for her response.
Eventually he heard the toilet flush and the sink turning on, but soon after, Momo opened the door revealing her tired eyes and bed hair. "What happened?" He asked, concerned.
"I just threw up a little." She replies.
He brings his hand up to her forehead. "You don't feel like you have a fever."
"I don't feel bad actually. Maybe it's something I ate last night?"
"Are you going to be okay? I'm going to head off to the store to get some things for my trip, do you need anything?"
She shakes her head. "I'm good, I'll probably take a shower since I'm up."
"Okay." He leans for a quick kiss. "Love you. I'll be back soon."
"I know you will. Love you."
They part ways as he goes to his closet to find something to wear, as she slips into the bathroom, closing the door. She lets out a small, tired sigh.
"It's weird, I don't feel sick, then why did I puke?" She brings up her bandaged arm into view. "Could it be from the venom?" She shakes her head. "Great. Now Shoto's got me thinking that."
She quickly gets undressed and hops into the shower. She lets the warm water cover her naked form, getting her bed hair drenched.
"Maybe I just caught a bug… but then I would have a fever, right?" She rests her forehead against the cool wall. "I'll just have to wait for my test results then."
*Break*
It was late in the afternoon, and the Half-cold Half-hot hero was packing for his business trip tomorrow. Suitcase laying open on the bed, half filled with his things.
"You've got everything you need?" Momo asked, sitting on the bed.
"Yeah, I've got everything I need for the week." Shoto replies, folding some clothes and laying it in there. His phone suddenly rings and he pulls it out of his pocket revealing a picture of his green haired friend. "Oh, It's Izuku. Probably about the trip, excuse me." He swipes the button and lifts the phone to his ear. "Hello?... Oh, hey Izuku… Yeah… The trip of course…"
Shoto kept talking while packing his suitcase, but not long after that, Momo's phone rang. She crawled out of bed, swiping her phone to leave the room to hear better, But only shutting the door halfway before answering it.
"Hello?... Oh, Hi Doctor Hosu. Did my test results come back?" she asked, waiting for his response. "-They did? Great. What are they?..."
She nods, listening intently. She smiles. "-They're negative?... Oh, that's good. Thank you, Doc-... Something else? What do you mean?"
Momo listened carefully, her smiling face turned shocked and scared. "I-I'm what?" She looks back at the door, catching a glimpse of her husband back who was oblivious to her panic look. She turned away from the door, responding to the Doctor again. "Are you sure?... Oh, Thank you. Bye."
She hangs up the phone, biting her bottom lip, mind racing.
"-Okay. See you tomorrow,Izuku." Shoto finishes, hanging up. He slides the phone back into his pocket and notices his wife's absence from the room. "Momo, who was that?" He calls out.
She nearly jumped at the sound of his voice, turning to open the door fully, keeping a straight face. "Doctor Hosu, my test results are negative." She replies, with a small smile.
There was a sense of relief on his face. "That's good. I was getting worried." He turns his attention back to packing the remaining space in his suitcase, missing her sad face again.
"Yeah…" She looks at her reflection in the freestanding mirror, frowning and touching her flat stomach. "Me too…"
Oooh... Well Momo beable to tell Shoto? Stay tune to find out!
