Hey you guys! Just wrote a little something. A comedy this time.
Tom had this problem... a big problem!
He partnered up with Doug last week to solve a drug case in a high school. All was going well until this twelve year old, seventh grader started stalking him!
She was called Milly, had brown hair and blue eyes and was quite short. She looked much younger than her age. It didn't help the fact she wore her hair in pig tails most days, colourful dresses and dungarees. She was a loner ...Which could explain why she spent so much time and energy stalking him.
She was a major red flag the very first time their paths crossed. Tom was walking down the school hall with Doug, minding his own business, when she appeared in front of them. Just frozen. Cardboard stiff.
"Uh...is she okay?" Doug asked worriedly.
"I...don't know." Tom murmured back.
They scanned their surroundings to see if there was anything or anyone that troubled her... but the only person she was really looking at - was Tom.
Then... she screamed.
"Whoa, what the hell?" Doug blurted in surprise.
All the students stopped in their tracks and stared.
Tom however tried to act calm. "You okay girlie?" he asked, approaching her.
"Oh my god, you are sooooo cute!" she blushed at him.
"Me?" Tom asked, bewildered.
To make the scene even weirder, she just ran off...
"What... just happened there?" Doug asked, bewildered.
"I don't know," Tom replied, shaking his head. "Is it me or kids of this generation are getting weirder?"
But this situation... got weirder. From that day on, she popped up everywhere. And that meant everywhere. She slipped love notes, little gifts, blushed and cried. She even stole one of his bandannas to keep!
Tom found the whole thing disturbing and feared she was hindering the investigation by being in the way. Doug however, thought she was cute and completely harmless. But there had to be a line drawn between being completely harmless to being completely creepy!
Tom and Doug were having lunch in the cafeteria, when they realised she was standing not too far behind them. Doug was the first to notice because he was sat opposite the table, facing her.
"Guess whose here!" Doug smirked.
"Let me guess..." Tom grumbled. "Milly?"
"Yep."
He was sick of it. When was she ever going to stop? He was definitely going to convince Fuller tonight that it wasn't funny but serious!
He gritted his teeth. "I can't stand this any more."
Doug ignored him. "Aw, just look at her," he gushed. "She's wearing a dress with love hearts all over it!"
"I don't care..."
"Why don't you try being nice to her?" Doug suggested.
"I am nice!" Tom hissed.
"You told her to get lost this morning."
"I said it politely," Tom argued.
While they were talking, he didn't notice she become even closer until she was right behind him...
"Hello Tommy!" she said sweetly. "I made you a sandwich."
He almost jumped out of his skin!
True enough, she had a sandwich cut into a triangle and wrapped in cling film. There was no goddamn way he was going to eat that. It could be laced with something like a love drug recipe.
"No thank you..." he said (as nicely as possible). "I have my own food."
"Please, I insist!" she said, nudging it towards him, almost touching his shoulder with it. "I spent a lot of time making it this morning especially for you!"
Yeah, I bet you did...
"Be nice," Doug whispered.
"No thank you," he said more firmly - to both of them.
Milly stuck her nose in the air. "Fine."
He almost sighed in relief inside - until she slipped it onto his lap!
"You can save it for later in case you get hungry."
"Milly..."
She blushed. "Oh, I love it when you say my name!"
She then shyly touched his hair. "I see you later... Tommy." She then let out a sick giggle then finally, finally, turned to walk away.
Tom shook his head. "This has gone far enough!"
"Hey, I would love someone to make me a sandwich like that," Doug defended.
"Then you can have it," he said, slinging it to him.
To his surprise and disgust, Doug actually peeled off the cling film and started eating it!
"Mmmm." Doug voiced.
"Uh...how does it taste?"
"Really nice," Doug munched. "It's peanut butter and jelly."
"You let me know if you start acting funny later," Tom warned.
Unfortunately, Fuller still didn't take it seriously. He just found the whole thing damn funny!
"I can't make any progress with this case," Tom fumed. "If she doesn't stop, I'll have to pull out of this one."
"Just tell her to stop," Fuller put simply.
"You don't think I already tried that?" Tom snapped.
"Do it again until it becomes clear to her," Fuller said firmly.
He decided to give it a go as there was nothing else to suggest. He orchestrated an entire, lengthy conversation to convince her to stop almost half the night. When that time finally came to face itsy bitsy Milly... she wasn't there.
Well not quite. She was there. Only she wasn't sneaking up behind him or screaming or whatever. She was there talking to this boy her own age. He was small, like her too, and was one of those nerdy types with high waist trousers and glasses. Amazingly, they looked like they were totally in love with each other.
"Oh look, it seems Milly had met her match!" Doug observed.
He didn't know how he felt. It was difficult to believe it was over. He definitely felt annoyed losing sleep over figuring out what to say to her.
Days passed... and she still pretended he didn't exist.
It was hard to admit, even to himself, that he actually missed her!
