Percy and Annabeth weren't on the best of terms. Actually, they were total enemies. Annabeth was a well-known hitman and Percy had been on her tail ever since they gave him the case. He won't lie; he was surprised when he found out that Owl had been a woman. Being a hitman wasn't a career that women went for. He only says that because every hitman ever caught has been a man.

Percy figured out Annabeth's identity a year ago on accident, he remembers that night as clear as day. His unit had been following a very infamous drug lord named Luke Castellan and Percy had gone undercover. He wasn't able to become super close with Luke, but that didn't matter because he just needed Luke to let his guard down a little bit.

Luke invited Percy to Princess Andromeda, Luke's boat. No, calling it a boat would be disrespectful. It was a full-on cruise ship. It was no secret that Luke had a love for the finer things in life, so he threw a ball. Yes, a ball in the 21st century. It had been quite the event, Percy felt as if he stepped into the Palace of Versailles, that's how grand and beautiful the grand hall was.

At the ball Percy had met Annabeth, he didn't know that she was Owl at the time. He had to mingle with the crowd, so he asked her to dance and she accepted.

"My name is Jack," he introduced himself.

"Nice to meet you, Jack," Annabeth flashed him a small smile, "I'm Bethany."

Percy decided to get intel, so he figured he'd ask her some questions. "So, Bethany,"

"Please call me Beth," she interrupted.

"Alright then, Beth, how do you know Luke?" He kept his tone innocent.

"You could say we're childhood friends," there was a long silence before she decided to speak again, "What about you? How do you know him?"

"Mutual friend." He lied. There was never a mutual friend, but Luke didn't bother checking with said mutual friend that Percy name-dropped.

They danced in silence for the rest of the song. "Well, it was nice dancing with you, Jack." She mocked a curtsey a slipped out of the grand hall.

Percy knew he had to convince Luke that night to make him one of the guys. It was the only real way they would be able to get Luke arrested. He decided to make use of the finger food and devour it then he made his way towards Luke's office.

He wasn't ready for what was waiting for him at Luke's office. The front of Luke's office was empty, which was very strange. Luke never stepped into a room without at least one muscle man standing guard.

He heard a familiar female voice coming from the office along with Luke's.

"Cut the bullshit, Luke." It was the woman from earlier, Bethany.

Luke laughed, "Ok you got me. I killed her on purpose."

Percy only hoped that his mic was picking up on what was being said.

"What did Thalia ever do?" Bethany sounded as if she was on the brink of tears.

"She was going to snitch," Luke said matter-of-factly.

"Do you regret it?"

"No, in fact, I enjoyed every minute of it."

Then there was another long silence before Percy heard a click, a silencer. He ran inside only to find Luke's body on the floor, decorated with the signature that had haunted him ever since he got promoted, the feather of an owl.

It had taken him a while to find her actual identity. Since they had no definitive proof that she was Owl the next best thing they could hope for was to catch her red-handed or hope that she slipped up.

That's how Percy ended up at her heal. Annabeth had always been one step ahead of him. It frustrated him; he knew that it would be no easy catch. He did, however, think that knowing her real name would help.

Annabeth even once snuck up on him while he was off duty. At this point, their relationship was interesting, to say the least.

"It's rude to follow," Percy had said without looking up from the apples he was picking.

Annabeth chuckled, "Now you know how it feels."

So yes, he knew her real identity and she knew his. What bothered him so much is that outside of her job she was a decent person. Or at least that's what Percy had gathered from the times where she purposely bumped into him. He knew that humans were multi-dimensional, he didn't expect Annabeth to only care about killing. That's what made it harder, knowing both sides.

It has been a peaceful night; he had been binge-watching Sons of Anarchy when he heard someone knock on his door. It was 2 am and he couldn't imagine anyone being up. Let alone be outside. He checked through his peephole to see who it was. Annabeth.

He quickly opened the door and she nearly fell over.

All the times he'd seen Annabeth was looked like a force to be reckoned with. Nothing like what was standing before him, she was badly beaten. Her hair was a tangled mess, a busted lip, and what looked like was turning into a black eye. She sported cuts on her arms. Her clothes were even worse. The shirt was being held together by a miracle and her shorts looked like they'd been dragged through the mud. He looked down to realize she was barefoot.

"Hey," she mumbled.

"Annabeth," he wanted to ask if she was ok, but he knew it was pointless to ask.

She swayed a little bit, "I didn't know where else to go." She stumbled forward and Percy managed to catch her.

A/N: Seen a textposts about the hero being assaulted and going to the villain's house prompt AU. I loved it and decided to put a whole new ass twist on it. Made it less dark, kind of lol. It's been a while since I've written anything for Percabeth so this was nice.
