"Do you think he can hear us?"

Two gray she-cats with starlight in their fur whispered to each other while watching a third cat, a massive pale tabby tom, looking down into a pool of water.

"Willowbreeze, Graypool, your mews are as loud as the river. Come out now!" he meowed.

"Yes, Crookedstar."

The sisters came out of the bush they had been hiding in prior.

"Have you found the right cat to sway the code?" Graypool asked softly.

"Yes, this kit," Crookedstar said grimly, pointing into a pool showing three kits: a brown tabby she-kit with white patches, a pale brown tabby tom, and a white and gray spotted she-kit.

"Which one?" Willowbreeze blinked at the three kits.

"The tabby she-kit" came her reply.

"I'll deliver the message." Willowbreeze whisked out of the clearing.

"I hope this works…" Graypool glanced anxiously at Crookedstar.

"It has too," he replied "or this will be the end of the clans as we know them."
