I don't know how, but I will make it to the top! Anyways, here's a new story, and anyone coming here because they favored me saw something pop-up and thought I'd updated 'A Lost Soul' I'm sorry. Right now, or rather, for maybe the last 2 years I haven't put out the 4th chapter. Was I working on it? Yes. Did I get writers block two-sixths of the way through? Also yes. I hope no one's too mad. Anyways onto the story.

Ch.1: Random chance

"People are not born equal." That was the hard truth of the world. At the end of it all there was only one thing that could compare to that truth. The world didn't care about 'equal'. There were no certainties, in the end, it was all based on chance. All that mattered was that you took advantage of that randomness when it set itself up perfectly for you.

The first I realized when I was four.

The day I was diagnosed as quirkless.

It all began with a bioluminescent baby born in a hospital in China. After that people with exceptional abilities began to pop up everywhere around the world. What was once a dream to most became a reality, and as time passed the extraordinary became the ordinary.

When the strange abilities became common enough they were dubbed quirks, and with the rise of super-powered individuals came the chaos and destruction of society as it had been known. Entire nations had to overhaul their governments from scratch, having to now take into account quirked individuals.

At present an estimated 80% of the world's population consisted of people with superhuman abilities. And with the rise of those abilities came a new profession.

That of heroes.

It wasn't until I turned fourteen that I understood the second.

The day a strange meteor crash-landed in the woods at the edge of a park anyone rarely visited.

A young boy who had been told to give up on his dreams by his idol.

And the unconscious decision to go for a stroll to clear his mind.

So many more unknown variables that had to be just right for the story to turn out the way it did.

The story of how I, Izuku midoriya, became the hero of heroes.

"No. There are some villains that can't be beaten without powers, it's good to have dreams, but they have to be realistic."

Those were All Might's words to me when I had asked him if even someone without a quirk could be a hero.

Although I'd already known that beforehand hadn't i. I'd spent my entire life pushing myself forward despite what others said. Ignoring that deep down id known all along I could never be a hero without a quirk.

Somehow it had hurt far more than anything else hearing those words from his idol, the man who he'd placed on such a high pedestal, the one person who he thought would never let him down.

And yet he had. He told him what everyone else had told him since he was four.

"I'm so sorry Izuku!"

"Damnit!" Those weren't the words he wanted to hear.

"If you really want to be a hero that badly, take a swan dive off the roof and hope you get a quirk in your next life!"

"Damnit!" Who the hell told someone to kill themselves!, if he'd actually gone and done it Bakugou would have been an instigator!

"God damnit!" And here he was, breaking down.

He had spent his entire life hoping that someone would tell him that he could be a hero, to hear that someone truly believed in him.

Even the person he thought would encourage him to reach his dream had told him it wasn't possible.

"I really am just a deku."

BOOM!

"W-what was that?!" As he looked up to try and find what had made the noise he managed to catch a glimpse of a streak of light above the treeline.

A meteor?!

KABOOM!

He watched as the streak of light crashed in the woods and shook the earth. Despite his fear, a part of him was still curious as to what it could have been. Was it a quirk? Was there a hero patrolling around? Why did it matter to him? The number one hero had told him that he couldn't be a hero, so why was he so adamant about still studying them?

Because against all logic, I still want to be a hero!

Without thinking his feet began to lead him towards where the crash site was. Despite everything he'd been put through, a part of him still wanted to be a hero, and that part of him pushed his feet forward hoping to catch a glance at the possible quirk or hero at work. He'd always enjoyed studying quirks, detailing their possible weaknesses and applications under certain situations, and even after being put down by his personal hero, he still held onto a speck of hope that somehow it would help him achieve his dream.

"What is that?" As he stepped forward into the brush he found a crater where the meteorite had landed, forgetting everything that had happened to him earlier that day he looked over the edge and saw something lying at the bottom of the crater.

It looked like some sort of metal pod.

It didn't look like it had been produced by a quirk, and it definitely didn't look like it had been the result of some battle between a hero and a villain. That just left the question of what exactly it was. He'd originally thought that the initial sound he had heard was whatever it was being hit by something else.

Looking around showed him that wasn't true, now that he actually took the time to see if there was anyone around he noticed a distinct lack of heroes or villains. Whatever this thing was, no one had heard it crash, and he wasn't sure if anyone was coming to investigate it. Taking his chances he decided to jump into the crater to get a closer look at it.

As he jumped down into the hole and landed next to the pod he heard a sudden hissing noise, as if air was being released from something, and noticed that the pod seemed to have opened up when he got near it, and lying inside of it he saw a strange watch.

What's a watch doing inside something like this, and in the middle of nowhere no less.

As he reached forward to grab the watch, it suddenly jumped from the pod and wrapped itself around his wrist.

"W-what the hell?!, what is this thing?!" Panicking he began to look around to see if anyone had suddenly appeared and was trying to freak him out. Seeing that he was still alone he calmed down a bit, but he was still worried over the watch that had suddenly latched itself onto his arm.

"C-calm down Izuku, think, think, there's no one around and some weird watch just jumped onto you" Taking a few deep breaths he managed to finish calming himself down.

After his initial panicking he started to look to see if there was anything else inside the finding nothing else inside, and remembering that the watch was still attached to his left arm, he began to fiddle with it to see if there was any way to take it off.

"Okay, so this thing came out of nowhere." Suddenly one of the buttons that he had pressed did something.

After pressing the button something had popped out of the watch. Fiddling with the watch a bit more he realized that he could twist the cylinder. He also noticed that every time he turned it the silhouette inside of it changed. Studying it a bit more he couldn't seem to find anything obvious. Realizing he had no other option he stared at the cylinder.

"Well I've tried everything else and nothing's worked, so here goes nothing." Without giving it a second thought he pressed the cylinder down.

Suddenly an emerald flash of light blinded him. He began to panic again, but almost as quickly as the light had appeared it disappeared. Looking around after he'd calmed back down, he noticed that nothing around him had changed.

"O-oh, guess I'm still a bit jumpy, and it doesn't look like that flash of light did anything." Suddenly as if hed accidentally touched a hot stove he jumped, falling onto his back and hit his head.

"What happened to my voice?!" Reaching up to feel his neck to see if it had somehow been hurt, he realized that his voice wasn't the only thing that had changed.

"AAAAAAHHHH! I-I'M ON FIRE!" Izuku started to flail around trying to put the fire out.

After about a minute or two of shouting and running around he realized something.

"Wait a minute, it doesn't burn." After realizing that the fire covering him was in fact not burning, he noticed something else.

"I-i'm made of rock?" What had happened to him? One moment he was normal and the next he was set on fire and turned into some kind of rock monster. Was it some type of quirk?

"Okay, so it started with that flash of- wait no, that's not right, the light only appeared when I pressed the face of that watch." That was another thing Izuku had realized while examining his new body. The watch was gone, or more accurately most of it was gone, the only thing left of it on him was the face of it, which was now directly at the center of his chest.

"If pressing it once turned me into this thing, maybe pressing it again will turn me back?" With that decided he pressed the face of the watch again, the results were instant, with another flash of light he was back to normal.

"I'm back to normal, that's good." Checking his entire body to see if there were any lasting side effects, he seemed to be completely fine.

"Initial recalibration complete."

"W-what, whats going on?" It took him a second to realize the voice seemed to be coming from the watch.

"Wait, you can talk?" He watched the face of the watch pop up.

After popping up it produced a yellow light that seemed to quickly scan his entire body. Then it started to talk again. "Users species identified as Homosapien."

Did this thing just scan me? And from that single scan it determined what my species was, just what exactly is this thing?

"Users codon stream initialized, users DNA sample cataloged, rebooting information matrix, user identification required." After finishing, the face of the watch fell back into its position.

For a second he was confused. "W-what?, what exactly are you?."

Then the watch started talking again. "User identification required."

With a bit of confusion he finally replied. "U-um… Izuku midoriya?"

It took a few minutes before the watch replied to him. "User identified as Izuku midoriya. Would you like to begin the Omnitrix Navigation System?"

Omnitrix? Is that what this thing is called? "Um… Yes."

"Omnitrix Navigation System initialized. Welcome Izuku Midoriya."

"Uh excuse me… but what exactly are you?"

It took a few moments, but after the watch blinked a few times it responded. "The device you currently wield is known as the Omnitrix, the Omnitrix was created as a tool of peace, designed with the intention to promote inter-species understanding by allowing sentient beings to experience different ways of life through various transformations into other sentient lifeforms found throughout the universe."

To say that Midoriya was shocked would have been an understatement. "Wait, you mean aliens!?"

Aliens. Real-life aliens! Wait it said transformations, so that means that that thing I turned into was an alien.

He began to think of his next question, there were so many things he wanted to know, but before he could ask them the Omnitrix continued. "In this planets colloquial terms you are indeed correct. The Omnitrix currently stores the codon streams of over one million distinct sentient life forms spread throughout the universe."

"As previously stated the Omnitrix's creator created it with the intention of bringing life forms together by, as your species would put it, " Letting you walk in another's shoes."

Suddenly he felt his stomach drop, and he heard it, the voice he tried so hard to ignore.

A device meant for peace, a device meant to bring people together, a device with the ability to turn anyone into anything. So much power in such a small device, and it fell into the hands of a nobody, a deku.

"No! I can't think like that, I've just been handed the ability to help people, and that's exactly what I'll do! Omnitrix could you tell me how the transformations work?"

Again the Omnitrix blinked and began to reply. "The process of transforming requires that the Omnitrix completely rewrite the users' DNA, replacing it entirely with that of the chosen species as well as the appropriate amount of mass, in cases where the users mass is insufficient the Omnitrix will produce said mass. The Omnitrix shall also provide rudimentary knowledge over how a species functions, having it imbedded directly into the users DNA, as well as reading the users' thoughts to procure the species the user sees as a fit for a given situation as well as various voice commands."

He was stunned, and he guessed with how there was an AI installed into the Omnitrix, there would be more functions to come. "W-wow… that's a lot to take in, and those are only the functions of the transformation feature?"

"Correct."

Yup still more.

Activating the Omnitrix he flipped through the set of ten he had been given, taking the time to look at each silhouette. Finally, he landed on the one he recognized. Pressing the faceplate he was blinded by green again, but unlike before he was able to feel his body transform, where before he had been panicking, now he felt his entire body being replaced with rock, and a heat unlike any before springing forth from his body lighting it ablaze. It wasn't a bad feeling, no, it almost felt natural, like exhaling after holding your breath for too long.

He finally settled on what he wanted to ask. "Omnitrix, what species is this one."

"Current species identified as the Omnitrix's DNA sample of a Pyronite from the star-like planet Pyros." It paused before quickly continuing.

"Would you like to name this sample."

That confused him for a second. "What do you mean name, I thought this was a Pyronite?"

"Correct, the species this sample was derived from call themselves Pyronites, however, for ease of access the user is allowed to name each transformation, as to make it easier to call upon in future situations."

Raising his hand up to scratch his neck in embarrassment he replied. "O-oh, guess that makes sense. Alright so what should I call you."

Okay, so it's made of rocks and produces flames, but can it shoot those flames? It would make sense, but how would I go about doing that?

Almost as if instinctual Izuku raised his hand in his concentration, and as quickly as he thought about shooting flames a ball of fire launched out of his hand.

He looked on in awe as he stared at the crater he had created. "Mended into my DNA."

He turned to the device on his chest and decided to find out what he could do. "Omnitrix, would it be possible to tell me what abilities this pyro-"

That's right, he still hadn't come up with a name for his transformation, but what could he call it? Endeavor? No, that one's already taken. Pyromaniac? No, I want to make people feel safe, not scare them. The Human Torch? No, that one was a bit too long, and he was pretty sure it was also taken.

Something simple, come on. He produces immense heat, produces large amounts of fire, and is able to blast-

That was it. "Omnitrix, I'd like to call this one Heatblast."

It flashed before responding. "Transformation designated Heatblast."

"Would you mind giving me a rundown on what kind of abilities Heatblast has?" Yup, he was definitely sticking with that name.

"Information transfer initialized."

Wait, why would it need to transfer the infor-

In an instant, his train of thought was cut short as he felt information flood into his mind, whereas before he knew the ability through instinct and would, therefore, have to try everything out himself, now it was like the information had been described in a detailed fashion to him by someone else.

And with each ability filling his mind his smile grew bigger.

"A Deku like you could never be a hero!"

Slamming the dial on his chest, he transformed back. And as he began to walk out of the forest only determination and conviction filled his mind. And only one thought, one voice, filled him with a fire he'd never felt before.

I can be a hero.

Well, this is my new story hoped you all like it. Please review when you finish reading this chapter, it should be a sort of prologue for this story. I'm hoping that it gets those creative juices flowing, and hopefully this is the start of something. Other than that, please leave a review stating three things you think I did well and three things that I can improve upon. If you have any questions leave a review or PM me.
