"Go shoot!" Valkyrie shot into the stadium effortlessly gliding across the stadium with unpredictable movements. Its owner Valt Aoi stared at his bey uncomfortably, he felt..so cold. Even with a shirt underneath his vest he still felt the goosebumps and the small hairs on his neck would stand up with no signs of staying down. While it was admittedly annoying, he continued with training. Picking up his bey and reattaching it onto his white launcher, Valt got back to his stance gritting his teeth because of his cold body temperature. It was like a game he and Xander played back in kindergarten "hot and cold" but he never thought about it in the literal sense. "Go shoot!" His grip on his launcher wasn't as tight as it normally was and as a result, his launch wasn't as strong. Valkyrie wobbled as it spun around the edge waiting for the perfect time to hit the imaginary opponent in the center; it was like Valkyrie was making up a battle right before his eyes.

Valkyrie just stopped like a spin finish on its side. A small groan of frustration ripped from his throat as he picked up his bey for the last time that day. He stared at his beloved bey like it held all his answers to his seemingly bizarre questions. Is he sick? Maybe I should ask mom to take me to the doctors office or something. 'Valkyrie..what's wrong with me?' The normal blue hue that emits from the bey never came to be. Gently gripping the bey, he put it in his bag along with his launcher and walked away from the beypark, an uncomfortable aura wrapped around him.

"Soulmate?" Valt looked up at his childhood friend Shu Kurenai in confusion.

"Yeah. Essentially that person is your one true love. It's something that is predetermined sorta like destiny." He explained as they walked. "Though it may take a long while but you'll eventually find your soulmate." He chuckled "It's like something out of a movie"

Valt's chocolate brown eyes lit up at the explanation. "Did you find your soulmate? Who is she? Wait" Valt scratched his head "How do you find them?"

Shu chuckled at his childhood friend's barrage of questions "I haven't found them yet. There are multiple ways to find or communicate to them. Some can just draw or write on their bodies as a means of communication, some have marks on their body and would light up when they meet. Others have their names written on any part of the others body." As Shu explained, Valt felt a shiver go down his spine. 'Ahh! So freaking annoying! Why am I so cold? It's summer for god sakes!' He yelled internally. "Sometimes it takes a person a lifetime or they can find their true love right as we speak. Quite odd don't you think Valt?" When Valt sighed, some red flags went off in the esteemed bladers head. "Valt you okay?" His face contorted to a concerned expression.

"O-oh I'm fine, just a little cold. Yeah it sounds really weird." He smiled but of course Shu saw right through it.

"Maybe it's the universe trying to tell you something."

"My soulmate?! That explains everything!" He exclaimed a new found surge of energy went through the boy. "Whoa! So if I'm with my soulmate I'll feel fuzzy and warm inside? Time to search! I'm coming!"

"Hey wait a min-" Valt ran off, Shu yelling at him to wait but to no avail. 'M-maybe I said too much.' He sighed walking back to his apartment. 'His soulmate is gonna have a ball with him' He took off his fingerless red glove seeing a black 'K' engraved in his palm. Tracing the letter, he looked up at the sunset before closing his eyes wondering when he'd find his.

Time skip

"Valt! What the hell, you're never late!" Rantaro yelled in exasperation while Valt awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck mumbling an apology still feeling cold. "Hey Valt let's battle." Daina grabbed Deathscyther the bey dully glowing. Not wanting to pass up a battle, Valt grabbed Valkyrie and made his way to the stadium. The closer Valt got his body temperature increased with each step he took. Thinking it was a mere coincidence, he stood on the left side of the stadium. With hesitation, Valt backed away from the stadium and his body heat turned colder and colder. It was like a see-saw. Hot to cold and cold to hot. But...there's no way in hell it meant anything.

'Maybe the universe is trying to tell you something.' Shu's voice echoed in his subconscious but he shook his head in denial. Shu couldn't have been referring to a soulmate. No way in hell. 'Me and Daina? Soulmates?!' He scoffed 'There's no way'

"...Uh Valt are you okay?" Daina raised an eyebrow as Valt squeaked at getting caught. The bladers got into their respective stances and Valt's brain screamed at him to look at the stadium but his eyes decided to rebel and stare at his opponent. "Ready? And set!" Rantaro's fan brought the bluenete back to reality. He glared at the stadium, gripping his launcher so hard Rantaro thought it would shatter. His knuckles turned sheet white and numb, his blue veins became more noticable. He didn't know why but it certainly worked. It was like a dumb kindergarden game. For how long can Valt Aoi avoid Daina's gaze?

"Go shoot!" The two males shouted and almost immediately the sound of beys being launched into stadiums filled the ears of the beyclub. Deathscyther glides across the stadium with elegance in contrast to the wobbling Valkyrie hitting the walls of the stadium. "Hey! what's up with that launch?" Besu asked, its owner Kensuke looked at the Valkyrie owner in surprise, Rantaro the same. With one strike, Valkyrie was flung out of the stadium with a 'ting ting ting' and leaned on its side right beside his right foot. Silence filled the rooftop for a couple moments but a stuttering Rantaro called the score "Deathscyther wins with a ring out finish. The score is 1-0"

"H-hey guys I'll be right back, I'm not feeling too well." Valt rubbed his arm sheepishly smiling. As he said this, he breathed out and stepped out of the rooftop. His back made contact with the wall behind the door as he slid down putting his face in his hands but no tears fell from his brown eyes raw emotion gnawing away at him both mind and body, mainly confusion, and the constant chill due to his body temperature. He felt stiff for lack of a better word. Also heavy, chilly. Well you get the point. "The door creaked open but Valt didn't bother to turn his head to see who it was. "Valt what's the matter?" The unmistakable voice of Daina Kurogami caused Valt to flinch. Red flags filled the Deathscyther owner as he opened the door fully to enter. He closed the door taking a seat beside him not before closing the door. Valt in response, turned his head so he was facing the brick wall simply saying "Just feeling confused. But you wouldn't wanna hear." He muttered.

"Try me. So spit it out." The two bladers maneuvered themselves so they're facing each other as Valt ran a hand through his messy blue hair moving his bangs away from his field of vision.

"So for the last 5 months, I've just felt so cold. Just thought something was wrong with me. D-during our battle, I felt warmer when I was around you. Though it was a coincidence, Shu told me about something called a soulmate." He air quoted soulmate "And now I'm just confused. There's no way in the world it could be you. I don't think you're feeling the chill." He laughed with a hint of bitterness "See, now I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Life is playing games with me.."

"It's bad to assume things. I don't think it's a coincidence we're feeling these things more than once. Did Shu tell you anything else?"

Valt forced his brain to recall what he told him. "He told me how people find their soulmate. Never mentioned anything about feeling hot and cold around someone." He snapped his fingers

"Looks like Shu hadn't told you about another way of finding your soulmate. Hot and cold. A see-saw. You feel cold when you and your soulmate are far apart and you feel all warm and fuzzy inside when you're with them. It isn't a coincidence at all." Daina mumbles the last part "S-so...it looks like we're soulmates life is full of surprises huh?"

In a dejected manner Valt muttered "So you aren't happy I'm your soulmate?"

"Again you shouldn't assume. I'm not complaining aren't I?"

Valt's espression turned to happiness as he tackled Daina onto the floor, said boy sputtered his face and body heating up from the contact with his soulmate. "Okay okay you can get off of me." Suddenly, soft, warm lips slammed upon the

Deathsyther owner's cold ones. Stunned coal eyes bored into warm chocolate brown which were shining with a new found confidence. He's ecstatic to see the normally stoic, frowning Daina with blood rushing to his cheeks to the tip of his soon part, a thin saliva connecting their lips as a reminder of what just happened. "I'm happy this whole mess is finally solved." Valt nuzzled into him while Daina felt a tad uncomfortable by the sudden display of affection but nonetheless he returned the gesture. "We should get back out there." He stood up extending his hand to his soulmate which he took. Hand in hand, they walk back out to the roof. Shu noticed the two holding hands but didn't say anything. Valt can confidently say that the cold feeling he previously felt was annoying as hell but it was 100% worth it now that he- no. They're together with this eternal warm fuzzy feeling.
