A/N: I am not really a fan of Dumbledore, Molly and Ron Weasley, though I love Gred and Forge as well as Ginny as a character, there is so much potential especially with the last one to evolve them. This is going to be an H/HR fic with side pairings made up as I go along. What you can expect in terms of bashing for sure: Dumbledore, Molly and Ron. I am rather sure I am going to reshape some characters from the cannon version. Keep in mind this is going to be a significant AU story.
Credits: The idea I got from reading a drabble of tweety-src-clt9 posted here on fanfiction in their collection of drabbles called: Harmonious Drabbles, Chapter 29 ( s/13383712/29/Harmonious-Drabbles). About this potentially conflicting with me reserving the right on reposting, as far as I know you cannot copyright an idea.
A/N 2: I am no native english speaker. I welcome any and all advise and criticism on how to improve my english, writing, storytelling, etc. If you dislike the path my story takes or the pairings I decide upon, I kindly ask you to stop reading, I do not want this story to be a chore for anyone. There might be certain things that you will dislike because of the amount of times they are used (for example love potions, soul bonds), I am not yet a hundred percent sure what I will use for this story as I write it without layout. Now coming to a close of my monologue I hope you all will enjoy this story and give me some kind of feedback on how to improve and/or what you like about my writing and/or what you dislike (but please no outright hating and flaming, I am open to criticism but what I do not like are trolls that do nothing but hating and flaming, yes, this might be my first story, but as I have read other fanfictions previously, I have read authors complaining about this issue countless times). Oh, and please in your reviews try to avoid spoilers. I will try to reply to all messages that find their way to me, but I cannot guarantee anything, I do not deliberately ignore you (unless you fall into that troll category I previously mentioned) but I might miss you, either because I did not check the messages or because I simply forgot to write a reply. I will also not reply to any questions about what is to come, this is simply because as said, I do not use a layout, I have a few ideas how this story will develop, but I will pick them as I go.
Chapter I: Changing History
November. It was a cold night. At least there was no snow, but that was to be expected in the south of england. So far nothing out of the ordinary. It was just like any other November night. But that was were the normality ended. This was the night Harry James Potter was placed with his relatives, the Dursley.
Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall and Rubeus Hagrid slowly walked towards the doorstep of number four, Privet Drive, Little Whinging having a small bundle with them. As they reached the doorstep they placed the bundle there. Dumbledore pulled an envelope out of his robes and tucked it into the bundle. Then a few minutes later the three left after some teary and heartbreaking well-wishes from McGonagall and Hagrid. Then a sound like a care that backfired.
A small, petite woman melted from the shadows. She had long grey hair with streaks of the blond that grazed her head in her youth. She walked over to the bundle and picked it up. In that bundle the one year old Harry Potter laid. The saviour of the wizarding world left discarded on a doorstep only with a letter for company. Of course, they did not know what she knew. They did not know what was to come. They did not know what would happen in that house. They did not know how it would shape Harry Potter. But she knew.
She was fourtytwo year old Luna Celeste Lovegood. She probably had the most extraordinary history of all. She came back through time with the knowledge and experience of a future that she had to avert at all cost. Her experiments with time caused her to age prematurely, not that she cared. When she began her experiments she was long beyond the point of caring what happened to her. She knew she had to succeed or die trying. Luckily for her, and the world, she succeeded.
Now she had a purpose again, she had a mission to complete. A mission vital to the survival of the world as it is known. She wasn't delusional, she knew that live would find someway to prevail, no matter what they did. No matter if they tried to destroy the entire planet. She knew that it would not mean the end of life, not the end of the world, but the end of all they knew. And she set out to change the course of history, to prevent all that what happened.
The ritual she developed to send back her body, soul and magic worked, though it actually had a minor flaw. She hoped to arrive two days prior, so she could make preparations, so she could take Harry before Dumbledore got his hand on him. But she would work with what she had. Not that she had much of a choice anyway. The ritual was risky enough when undertaken once, there is no need to tempt fate by undertaking it a second time.
She knew what she had to do. She would save Harry Potter from the lies, the manipulations, the endless suffering, he would experience, that would eventually lead to his demise way before it was his time to leave the mortal plane and go onto the next great adventure. She would ensure Harry would fulfil his destiny. She would ensure Harry would live his life to the fullest. She would ensure Harry got his happy end.
And with those thoughts she snapped her fingers of her right hand while holding Harry on her left. As she snapped her fingers a piece of wood shot into her hand. And while cooing to the young child she waved that stick over him. Multiple times before being satisfied and putting it back to where it had sprung from. Then she twisted on the spot. And pop she was gone with the child still in her arms.
~ 9 years and a few months later ~
'Mum! Mum! Look what I got today!' shouted an excited ten year old Harry James Potter as he ran inside the house waving his own wooden stick like crazy. 'Look, I got my own wand today, Maester Galendin made it for me.' He proudly presented his wooden stick, a so-called wand, to her.
'That is nice of him, isn't it? Did you say thank you?' She inquired from him, as he shook his head she sighed, she could fully understand how he felt, she remembered how ecstatic she had been when she first got her wand, but she still had her parental duties to fulfil, in this case it meant scolding him because of his lack of manner. 'Then we, young man, should go to Maester Galendin and thank him. Come on, off we go.'
Just as they left the house a tall man that had this air of eternal youth about him arrived at their doorstep. 'No need, I wanted to come over anyway. And you are welcome, Harry,' the man replied laughingly about Harry's expression. While she never punished Harry, she always made sure that he would feel that she was disappointed with him, she had realised it was way more effective than grounding him. Whenever he saw her being disappointed in him, he felt like he had led her down, like he had failed her. Not that he could, but that isn't something he needs to realise.
'Come in, Maester Galendin, come in.' She invited the man inside their house. 'Is there something I can bring you? A cup of tea?'
'Yes, yes, tea would be splendid, Lady Celeste,' he replied while walking inside the house. Celeste Sol, the cover name she had taken when she had traveled back in time. She had taken it so that Harry would not feel awkward around her younger self once he meets her.
Once she had served them all tea and they were seated around the small table in comfortable couches she decided to start the conversation, 'So, what brings you to our humble abode, Maester Galendin? Is there something we can do for you?'
'Well, seen as the two of you are going to leave today, I wanted to have a chat with the two of you, wish you good luck in your endeavour and hope we will see each other again soon, Lady Celeste, Harry' Galendin replied smoothly, 'About doing something for me? Yes. There actually is something. Staying save, alive and well that is. Now please keep in mind that Harry needs to buy a wand in Britain as well, we don't want to raise suspicions just yet, do we?'
'Mum, what is he talking about?' Harry asked. He never had been told about Luna's past. She feared it would influence him too much, she feared her story would manipulate him.
'Sweetie, I know I never talked about my past, but I think it is about time. My real name is actually not Celeste Sol. I will not tell you my real name so as not to make it awkward once you meet her, it might still be awkward simply because of how she, me, us, whatever looks like. I came from the future back to save people. And sadly you are the key to changing it. Now, don't get me wrong, I love you, I always had, since the very first day I met the you in the other timeline. You showed me acceptance where everyone else ignored me, excluded me, made fun of me. And for that I loved your other you. And this love never stopped, even after your other you died. It was you that empowered me to travel back in time, to help you. To save you...' she trailed off as she remiscided about the past.
'Save me from what?'
'From Albus Dumbledore and his lies and manipulations that cost you so much. It cost you your one true love, it cost you your happiness, your childhood, your parents, your godfather, your godmother, and so many more, but ultimately it cost you your live. But Dumbledore was not the only one who ensured all of that, he had allies.
'Molly Weasley was his biggest supporter and prime ally. She dosed you and your one true love, your soul mate, with love potions, jealousy potions and even mild hatred potions. All of that to ensure you two would never start anything. That you two would not establish your soul bond by confessing your love to each other.
'Now she had the support of Ronald Weasley, her son, he is a bit older than you, you will be in the same year group at Hogwarts. You used to call him your best friend until you discovered what they were doing, well at least partial. You only discovered the love and jealousy potion part and only that it concerned you, you never thought it would also concern your soulmate. You broke with most of the Weasleys, don't get me wrong, the Weasleys with the exception of these two and Percy, are actually nice, honest and friendly people. After you broke with them you set out.
'You hunted all those who ever dared to lift a wand against your soulmate, you managed to take them all down, but the last one laid an ambush. You fought alone against thirty men or so. You managed to beat them all, but you were so badly wounded you succumbed to your wounds.
'A lot happened over the years, but then twenty-three years later your soulmate died. Since your death she never experienced happiness again, that is the issue with having a soulmate. If one dies the happiness of the other dies with them. If they formed the soul bond actually both would die if one died. That is not bad because you would feel like an empty husk devoid of all that is good in live. You would wish to die. The bond therefore provides the optimal way out. Both of you die only to be reunited on the other side, at least that is what the theory says. We only were able to study the part of what happened on this side. We don't even know for sure about the synchronised deaths or the loss of all happiness. That is only what our arithmancy says is what will happen.
'But back to the important topic. She didn't die naturally, she was killed by her husband, Ronald Weasley. As he wasn't prosecuted sentient, magical beings all over the world started an uprising, they decided to bring hell upon wizarding Britain, it cost a very big and very devastating war. You have to understand, she was seen as an honorary member, like us with the High Elves, by many races. Therefore it was as if someone has killed one of their own.
'Now, you might understand what I try to avoid, and don't try to get names out of me, I do not want to manipulate you by giving you the name of your soulmate and therefore putting you under pressure of getting together with her. But you will know who she is, and don't be afraid to tell her how you feel about her. Now about raising suspicions, we do not want Dumbledore on our path just yet, let him walk a bit in the dark until all our preparations are completed, then it is more than acceptable for him to know we led him around in the dark.'
'Okay, now that you have told him could we get to making plans?' asked Galendin impatiently.
'Yes, yes, of course. So where do we start?' she in term asked the other two.
'We should make him see what he expects to see, shouldn't we?' proposed Harry, this was not the same shy, push around Harry she knew from the other timeline, this was a Harry that was somewhat open, a Harry that had his own will and stood for it, a Harry that used his brain and spoke about what it came up with even if it seemed so small, so insignificant.
'We should...' And so they made their plans.
A/N 3: I already have plans (or rather ideas) for Galendin, therefore expect him to reappear and not be like a one-time plotting helper (and wand-maker).
