A/N: Disclaimer: I own none of the songs/characters used in this story. Also, this is heavily influenced by my favorite band, Waterparks (so yes, a lot (not all) of the songs are going to be Waterparks songs, and yes, the albums are going to be real albums (not necessarily Waterparks albums though) that you can find). Also, also: this is probably going to swear a lot. Also, also, also: I may have to change some lyrics since Clary is a straight girl in this story, so she most likely wouldn't be singing about a girl. I mean she could but I don't think she would? I'm rambling, but anyways… yeah.

Clary was not happy to be woken up by her phone ringing. Even if it was 9:00 a.m. on a Thursday over the summer break before freshman year of highschool by her best friend Jace Herondale.
"This better be important, Jace," she grumbled into the phone.
She had expected him to laugh and say something about how he knew that she needed her "beauty sleep", but instead all she heard was, "I love you. And not as a friend. Well, yes as a friend, but also more than that." He sounded so serious; not like he was joking at all.
"Jace, what?"
"I… I shouldn't have told you. I'm sorry, Clary, just go back to sleep."
"Umm… okay? Should I be worried about you?"
"No!" he exclaimed. "I mean, no. You shouldn't be. Just go back to sleep, okay?"
"Fine?"
"Good," and with that he hung up.
Present Day:
"Clary, c'mon! We're going to be late!" Izzy, her best friend of five years screamed, practically-no, literally-shoving her out the door.
"Izzy! Calm the fuck down. We'll be there in plenty of time!" Clary said.
"Well, Maia's waiting, and we can't keep her waiting."
"I hate it when you're right," she grumbled. "Alright. Let's do this!" she exclaimed. Clary, Izzy, and Maia were the three musketeers. So much so that they started a band almost immediately after they met, and (somehow) got signed by a record label. Unsurprisingly, Clary wrote the songs pretty much by herself, only occasionally getting help from Izzy or Maia. Mostly because she had a lot of pent up emotions that needed to get out somehow.
The Shadows were pretty much an indie rock band (though they did have a few other genres included in their songs), but ever since they got signed to their new record label, they had only gotten bigger, plus they had a song played on the radio. It was pretty dope.
Not to mention, Clary had always dyed her hair for a new album, and since they just released Fandom eight months ago, her hair was currently neon green. So, that was always a fun activity for the girls to do. Was it a dumb idea to do it themselves? Probably. But they never messed it up too badly, and if they did, she could always go to a salon to get it fixed. To be honest, she probably should just go to a salon in the first place, but it was way more fun for the girls to do it themselves, as previously stated.
"How are you holding up?" Izzy suddenly asked her. They both knew what day it was. It was the anniversary of the day that Jace had told Clary that he loved her, and then proceded to leave and then block her every way that he could-whether that be through text or social media. He eventually unblocked her, but either way, she didn't care. He was a complete asshole, who never tried to contact her (even after he unblocked her). Besides, it wasn't like she had an excuse to contact him anyways. What would she say? Hi, I'm Clary Fray, your ex-best friend, and I hate you and miss you at the same time. Wanna go talk over coffee?
To be honest, it sucked to know that he was out there, living the dream without even thinking about her. He probably even forgot that she existed. He was also famous, but he was a pop solo artist, and was doing much better for himself than the girls were. They made a good amount, but if she had the amount of money that Jace had, she would probably be swimming in it.
The other thing that Izzy could've been talking about was that her (now) ex-boyfriend Sebastian Verlac had been caught cheating almost a year to the day. Did that suck? Yes. And had she written multiple songs about it? Of course. But for whatever reason, it didn't feel as bad as when Jace left. And that just made her angry.
"I'm fine, Iz. You don't have to worry about me," Clary smiled slightly.
"Well, I feel like I have to. And also, we're here."
As soon as they stepped inside of the venue that they were going to be performing in that night (through the backway of course), Maia ran up to them,"Finally! It took you guys long enough to get here! Also, I like your hair, Clary."
"And I was right on both counts!" When both girls gave her confused looks she added, "That we couldn't keep Maia waiting, and that your hair looks cute straight."
"Oh," was all that they managed to say, which made Izzy laugh.
"So, are you girls excited for tonight? It's the last day of the Fandom tour!" Maia asked, pointedly changing the subject. The girls had just gotten back from a tour throughout the U.S. and Europe, and were glad to be performing back in their hometown of Houston, Texas. After this, they would get right back down to writing and recording and all that jazz.
"Of course we're excited!" The other two exclaimed.
"Well good," another voice added, "because if you weren't there'd be a problem."
"Magnus!" Clary exclaimed. If there was a fourth musketeer, it'd be him. He was their band manager, and other other best friend. Clary, Izzy, Maia, and Magnus together was a dangerous situation. They acted like maniacs when they were together for too long. And, because of this, they were not left alone in a room for more than five minutes.
"Wow Fray, don't get too excited," he joked, sweeping her up into a hug.
Izzy suddenly decided to join in with a, "Hey what about me?" and then Maia, and then they were in a group hug.
"So, your opening bands are in the back, getting ready. The concert starts in three hours." Which meant that they didn't go on for another three after that at the least, but it was fine, because they loved to watch the opening bands. They were actually pretty close with the two they were working with on this leg of the tour.
"Thanks, Mags!" they exclaimed as they ran off.

He missed her. Clary. She was everywhere all at once. He could still hear her telling him that she couldn't have a favorite color because it wouldn't be fair to all the other colors. Telling him what kind of music she liked. Who she liked. Anything and everything.
He knew it wasn't fair what he did to her. It never would be. He wasn't sure why he told her, and then blocked her. He knew he should've told her the truth. Told her that he wanted to cut ties to make things easier on the both of them. But instead he went and fucked it up big time.
"Yo. Jace!" Alec called. He was his best friend of five years now. Apparently he had a little sister that was in a band called The Shadows. He'd heard of them before. They had been around since about a year before he was, but for whatever reason they were still Indie. He hadn't actually seen them or heard their music before, but he was still going to see them tonight, and Jace and Alec were going to meet with the band for an extremely late second dinner after the show.
"C'mon! The show's going to start soon, and since it's general admission, I want a good spot!"
"Whatever," he muttered. Clary would've loved them. She was all into indie rock and that stuff, even dragging him to a show once. It wasn't necessarily his type of music, but he had fun.
"C'mon, Jace, lighten up. It's in Houston, so I'm sure you'll get to see her again, right?" Alec said with a conspirator's grin. They were staying in a hotel there for a little while, because he wanted to catch up with Isabelle, as well as support them at this show.
"Right," he grumbled. "What's really going on, Alec? Because you've never even brought them up before you asked if I wanted to go see them in concert."
"A couple things, but the main one is that my boyfriend is their manager."
"At least you get to be happy."
"Jace," he sighed. "You'll see her again soon, I'm sure of it."
"You don't know that."
"Whatever, let's just go," Alec sighed, clearly upset with him. Jace could see why though, since all he ever really did was mope about Clary, and then write songs about the good times they had together.
"Yeah, let's," and with that, they were off.
