Bitter Rivals...

"Janne!"

Janne stopped and turned back in annoyance. Was he ever gonna learn?!

Yew clenched his fist and pointed at his former friend.

"You can't run away from a challenge!"

"I'm not." Janne replied cooly, "I just don't have time for it right now. This compass isn't gonna deliver itself, ya know. And the Kaiser has a pretty busy schedule, what with destroying the world and all that."

Yew placed his hand on his sword hilt. "I'm warning you, Janne… I'm at the end of my patience! I don't even care how or why this started anymore! We have to finish it! You and me! Here, and now!"

Janne scoffed, "You think that's how it's gonna be, huh? I'm warning you, you haven't beaten me yet. I'm still here, standing, ready."

"But I will beat you…" Yew said in a dark tone, "Yes, I will. We are mortal enemies, you and I. Now and forevermore. One of us is going to fall right here, while the other walks away victorious."

Janne examined his fingernails while leaning back on the wall. "You think so huh? Lemme tell ya something Yew. You haven't been trying. You've been LETTING me win, LETTING me get away. You gotta try, Yew! Put some bravery into your swings! Because the thing is, this is never going to be over if you just let me win. This will only ever end if you actually try, and try with everything you've got!"

Janne got into a battle stance. "So come at me, Yew! Come at me with everything you've got!"

Yew sighed and looked down, "If that's what you really want… alright. Here I come!"

"Wait Yew!" Magnolia cried, "We should support you! We need to be there to help!"

Yew shook his head. "No. This is between me, and him. no one else is to interfere, do you understand?!" he glared at Edea, who whistled innocently. "NO one." he added with firmness, and she nodded with a sigh.

Then, Yew turned back to his enemy and strode forward.

"Good luck, Yew." Tiz called after him.

Yew stood in front of Janne and gripped his sword, assuming a battle ready position. Janne did the same and they circled.

Then both, at the same time, pulled their hands up, revealing two 3DS's.

"I'm gonna be Star Fox!" Janne shouted, "Super smash bros go!"

"Hey no fair!" Yew shouted back, "Fine, Kirby for me."

The Super Smash Bros tournament sounds rang out.

"Ready? GO!"

Janne and Yew both began furiously pushing the buttons, Magnolia looked away, the scene too intense for her. Edea cheered Yew on, and Tiz just looked confused.

"I thought they were gonna fight." he said.

Edea laughed, "What does this look like? A picnic? Yew's been trying to beat Janne at Smash bros for years now! It's really become a bitter-rival sort of thing between them. But Yew always ends up letting Janne win because when Janne loses, he get's real upset… But this is for reals now, and it's AWESOME!"

"Watch out for my spinner blade attack, Yew!" Janne cried.

"you just gave me an opening to use my Kirby speciality! Bam! And…."

"Missed me. eat this, sucker! Hey! Stupid NPC…"

"Hah! Here I come! This is my coup de… wait… what? What!? It can't be…"

Janne laughed maniacally. "Whoops, looks like you lost. Wanna rematch?"

Yew threw his 3dDS down and stomped on it.

"WHY. CAN'T. I. WIN?!"

He stopped. Picked up his moderately damaged system and said: "I'm gonna take out my anger in Donkey Kong Country 2… I'll be right back…."

Janne shrugged, "Alright. Take your time." He sat down on the floor and looked at his game. After a moment, he glanced up at the other three standing and waiting right in front of him.

"You guys wanna play?" He asked, holding his 3DS up.

"Do we EVER." Edea cried and they all sat down to play Super Smash Bros Brawl.
