After crashing down on Earth and being left all by herself, without a ship or a crew, Peridot decides to finally complete her mission, the only thing she can do right now. However, her escape pod is not of any use in the state it is at the moment. It can still move for sure, but it would be more troubling to pilot it than going to the kindergarten by foot.

It's not like she is obsessed with completing the mission, far from , her main goal is to find something to keep her busy while she figures out what to do next.

Of course Peridot has lots of things to think about at the moment, but she simply doesn't want to deal with all of that right now.

The technician just wants to feel like something is working like it should be, just for once. However, things are never that easy.

"I just want a warp pad." The green gem says while looking at her screen. "Or a functional ship… Either would be fine." She writes a few data down while analyzing the field around her. "At least this place is full of resources. I can collect some data from this planet and keep myself distracted until I get to the Prime Kindergarten." She stops to look at the sky above her. "The sky… it has been a while since I saw that."

The green technician looks at the direction where her home is supposed to be. Homeworld… the place she wants to return as soon as possible. She definitely doesn't want to be around once the Cluster emerges because the moment it does Earth will be doomed. That is why she needs to leave before that happens.

It is not like she misses Homeworld that much, not after that awkward moment with the diamonds before she left, it is more of a survival instinct than any other thing. She can't even imagine facing Yellow Diamond, it would be a nightmare.

"I didn't think I was going to say this at any time soon, but I need to call for help after I check that weapon and Yellow Diamond's experiments." The green gem sighs. "I don't wanna call her… or him, but I don't have another choice. I can't stay here." The green gem looks around her and then at her screen. "Now that way." She points at the north.

It takes some time, but Peridot finally finds her way. Not the right way, but one to start. It actually took her forever to finally get out of the wheat field, but she managed to find the road after an hour or so.

The first place she finds herself at is a mountain, one from where she can see the sunrise clearly. It is a beautiful view, but Peridot can't see the beauty in it. She doesn't even bother to look at the Sun. It is just another star to her, like the ones she saw on her way to Earth.

On the bottom of the mountain there are a bunch of places where humans live, so, she walks the other way. She wants to avoid them as much as she can. All the reports told her the humans are annoying, bothersome and kind of stupid. They don't even have the type of technology that is needed to reach Homeworld's galaxy. Nothing they have available can help her in the mission she is in, that is why she wants nothing to do with them. The humans are useless to her, they would just slow her down.

"I wonder if Lazuli and Jasper were captured by the Crystal Gems." She thinks while looking at the ground in front of her. "I never thought Jasper would be defeated by a fusion… But a lot of things I never thought would happen, happened." She sighs. "Lazuli asked me to shoot her and also sent a message to the Crystal Gems... She is such a clod." The technician closes her eyes. "A clod I care about somehow." She takes a deep breath. "WHY AM I SO FAR AWAY FROM THE KINDERGARTEN!?" She shouts really loud. She is so stressed and so in need of help that she can't even concentrate.

Peridot is definitely way off her comfort zone. She always had someone to talk to and it doesn't take much longer for her to start to get bored and mad because of that. She really wants to say what she is thinking to someone.

After the green gem takes a few more steps in her journey, she opens her screen and has an idea.

"Well, this is a mission, right?" Peridot starts to look for a very particular function on her equipment. "And a mission requires reports!" She laughs, enjoying the thought of having something she likes to do connected to the mission. "Aha!" She shouts once she finds what she wants. "Log date 313. The landing on the planet Earth wasn't like we expected. There were a few complications caused by the group known as the Crystal Gems. They took over the ship and probably have it right now." The heir sighs. "I don't think anyone will hear these reports, but I will make them for future missions." She keeps walking towards the direction she thinks the kindergarten is. "I have no idea where Jasper and Lapis Lazuli are. I don't believe they were captured, but they probably didn't use any of the escape pods of the ship or else they would have used it to communicate with me. I connected the system of my pod to my equipment in case they try to make any contact. Maybe they were captured… who knows, right?"

In the moment she looks to the opposite side of where she is standing, the technician finds some sort of archaic form of locomotion. It is big and made of steel. It has a couple of wheels and it follows a railroad, just like the one they once had back on Homeworld. "I can see some sort of machine that moves to the kindergarten's direction. It is not a warp pad…" She ponderates. "But it can be of my use." She agrees with herself.

Peridot takes a few seconds, but she finally decides to follow the Earth machine and take a closer look. To catch it on time, she uses her floating fingers to fly towards the vehicle. It takes her a minute, but she manages to get to the top of it.

The heir sits there in silence for a few seconds. The only sound she can hear is the wind blowing against her face. It calms her down for a moment. It makes her forget that she is lost for a couple of minutes, allowing her to think about other things, like the origin of that machine and its components. She looks at the smoke the machine is producing while it moves, making her wonder about what humans use as fuel to make their machines work. "If I found out, I can put that in report later." She stands up and walks toward the machine house of the train.

Once she gets there, she can see black rocks inside of a place consumed by fire. She assumes those are the things that make the smooke. Peridot can't go inside the place because of the humans operating the machine, but she watches they work for an hour or so, writing everything down on her screen. By using only that amount of time she acquires all the information she wants.

She learns that those black rocks are called coal and the machine is called a train. The technician also learns how to operate the train and how the gears work in order to make it move. All that by only watching from the roof. "I could learn so much more if I could go down there." The heir says underneath her breath. "It is fascinating that a lower life form such as humans can build something like this." She smiles. "It is not fast, but with it I don't need to walk towards the place I want to go. Just like the system we have on Homeworld." Her eyes glow. "They are nothing like us, but they had the same idea. None of the reports I read said the humans were smart." She records while walking towards the back of the train."Well, by what I can see, they evolved a lot. I think I will be in the Prime in no time. Maybe I was wrong about them... They are not so useless." She says while lying down on the top of the train once she gets to the end of it. "I wonder what is waiting for me in the kindergarten. I never saw the experiments before. I wonder what they look like." The green gem closes her eyes. "But none of them will be close to what the Cluster really is." She takes a deep breath. "Now that I think of it… I never asked where those shards came from… Who were those gems before they were reduced to a weapon?" She talks to the screen. "Maybe I will never find out. Yellow Diamond would never tell me even if asked nicely."

The technician closes the screen and looks back at the sky. "I think the vastness of the sky is a thing in common this planet has with Homeworld, but I think I never saw one this blue… It almost reminds me of her eyes..." The heir takes a deep breath and makes an angry face. "Why is that clod always in my mind even when I don't want her to be?" She crosses her arms, disturbed by her own thoughts. "Why do I have this feeling that I know her from somewhere… From before…" The green gem sits and shakes her head, trying to put her thoughts in the right place. "Whatever! What difference does that make? She asked me to shoot her! She thought I was a monster! That clod..." She grumbles. "Who cares about her?" She lies down again. "She's better off far away from me. I don't know what I would do if she did one more stupid thing like the ones she did." Peridot crosses her arms. "She better be on her way towards Homeworld to ask for a ship to get Jasper and I out of here." Peridot laughs at herself. "Well, we could leave Jasper and catch her up some other time. She was made here. It wouldn't be such a big deal for her to remember the place she was made in." Peridot smiles at the thought of having a pacific trip back to Homeworld. Little did she know what really happened to the other two Homeworld gem.

Somewhere in the bottom of the ocean, a fusion of two really angry gems is imprisoned under the sea by the lapis lazuli Peridot keeps thinking about.

"Let us go." The fusion says in anger.

"Never!" She shouts. "We are gonna stay in this miserable planet together!"

Deep inside the fusion's mind, Jasper and Lapis look at each other while being held by water chains.

"Give up, Jasper, you can't fight me. I am stronger underwater!" Lapis gives the orange gem a smile of bravery.

"You can't hold this forever." Jasper yells while trying to get to Lapis.

"Wanna bet?" The blue gem raises an eyebrow, challenging Jasper to take control. But, instead of trying to fight back, Jasper starts to laugh. A hysterical laughter, making Lapis confused.

"Who would say you had it in you?" The warrior looks into the blue eyes in front of her. "Very well… Let's see how long you can hold us back." She gives the blue gem an evil smile.

"Alright. Let's see who is in control." Lapis uses her wings to reunite all her strength and make Jasper go under the water and stay there, being held by the chains that keep them together. "I will use all my strength to hold you down!" She shouts while fighting Jasper who tries to have the control.

Malachite is a fusion made of mistrust, hatred, and fear. She could never be a stable fusion. So, those two would always be fighting for the control.

Neither of the three Homeworld gems are in a good situation at the moment. While those two are fighting, Peridot is lost in her own journey.

However, the future held important things for them.

They would never be the same again.
