It was unbearable, but he had to push on. He always did in these situations. He has beaten crimelords, powerful disasters and unspeakable evils and came out on top with a smile.
Except this time, he wouldn't come out.
There he stood, a large crowd was gathered around him as he stood on debris. Many had their phones out recording him but all had the same expression.
Free flowing tears.
After all, this would be his final words. He looked down and saw the massive hole that was present in his right lung with blood spewing out. Blood dribbled out of his chin as his vision dimmed.
Was he dying? Is this what it felt like? He expected it to hurt more, to be more agonizing. But, maybe it was because of his life he held, one of peril but reward. He spent his life powerless only to do something that made the world better.
He did believe he held up to All Might legacy as a symbol of peace. He looked at the crowd of people and flashed the biggest smile he could.
"Fear no more anyone. Yes, I am close to death but let my final moment's be words of guidance to others." He said as loud as he could with half of his right lung missing. A wave of sadness and grief became the crowd as sobs became louder.
He really was going to die, but he didn't have a regret. Sure he never passed One For All on or fell in love but he beat All For One ages ago, the quirk's purpose was gone now for the reason to pass it on no longer existed.
Well, he should.
"As many of you know, my quirk was an enigma, but here, at my last stand, the world deserves to know." The crowd grew silent but the tears flowed.
"For any of you out there with a dream, a dream of heroism, a dream to rush in to help without a fleeting thought but are limited by your quirk or lack of quirk, hear my words." He took a deep breath and spewed blood as a result. His vision darkened quickly and he almost collapsed but managed to barely catch himself.
"When I was 4, I was confirmed to be quirkless." The crowd held a small gasp and waited for the mighty hero to continue. "I was bullied and abused for my dream of heroism, to make the world better but I never gave up. One man saw this light in me and deemed me worthy." He held out his hand, gathering the fleeting embers of One For All into his palm for a bright light.
"I was given a sacred torch, a quirk passed down from hero to hero to make the world safe and peaceful. I'm the 9th and last holder of the legendary quirk, of One For All." He shouted as hard as he could.
"One.. for all.." the crowd murmured.
"It was a quirk that gave the user super human strength and speed, but the greatest feature was its ability to stockpile. Each user who gained it would be stronger than the next, gaining in power and force as the torch was passed from generation to generation. The wielder who gave it to me was my mentor, idol and dear friend, Toshinori Yagi, better known as All might."
Several gasps came from the crowd as many theories were solved that moment.
"I used this power to save those out there who were in darkness. To bring light to even the darkest depths of humanity, to bring a world where people could be in peace and happiness. To save someone who hid their pain and misery from the world." He clenched his fist, the pain being non existent.
"So let my next words be motivation towards the new generation, a new generation of smiles and beacons of hope." He rose his fist up towards the sky. "Don't let anyone tell you the possibilities of reality, to tell you that your dream is just a fantasy. Anyone can be a hero, for it's the purpose and soul that made me a hero! Not this quirk!" He flashed his bloody smile.
"My name Deku was a name of pain until it was molded into one of a hero! All you have to do to become a light in someone's world is to push yourself! To go beyond!" He shouted.
"PLUS ULTRA!" The crowd finished with large tears and hoarse throats. Izuku nodded and closed his eyes and let the void take him. And then he stood, with his fist in the air and a warm smile on his face but soulless.
The life of the great hero faded with the sunset, but his legacy shall be carved into stone for generations.
