Everything stayed quite and still. Maybe a stray cardinal would fly by hear and there, but mostly it stayed deathly still. Even as they walked through the Forrest at a fast speed hardly any noise was made.
When they had walked out of the house neither of them had wanted to admit it was too cold for them, and now they where paying for it.
Leon led the way with him being always a few steps ahead of Ada, trying to get rid of he's chills with hard walking. Whilst Ada wasn't too concerned with getting back to Leon's home as he was.
"What are you thinking about Leon?" Ada asked, watching the intent look on he's face. "Hu?" Leon looked back over to her, still walking hard. "Nothing, nothing." He waved a hand in the air and turned back to the snow path.
Ada raised a eyebrow, smiling slightly. "Are you sure about that?" She asked again, and Leon nodded. "Well I was just wondering why your in such a rush to get back to your place. You seemed rather pleased a moment ago."
Leon slowed down a bet, but still kept up a good speed. "Am I walking too fast?" He asked, but really he know that wasn't the problem. "Of course not. I've always been faster then you are." "That's debatable." Ada shock her head slightly, looking at the ground. "Well, I just want to get home before it gets any darker." Leon answered. "It's not going to be dark for hours." Leon shrugged he's shoulders. "Aren't you getting cold by now Ada?" Leon asked. "Not as cold as you are apparently." "I'm not that cold." He whined. "Yes you are. You've been living and working in warmer climates your hole life Leon, so don't tell me this isn't bothering you." Ada said, eyes still on the ground. "Ok, first of all, please don't bring up my work in any fashion right now. Second I never said the weather wasn't bothering me." Ada roiled her eyes, then looked back down.
After a few quite moments of silence, Leon looked to where Ada's attention was at. Furrowing he's brow. "Why are you looking at the ground?" He asked, softly. After a few moments of quiet again, she answered, seemingly bothered. "I don't like my footprints being seen wherever I go." Leon opened he's mouth to respond, but shut it when he already figured out the answer. "Your right. It is dangerous. But neither of us are on a mission, we're safe hear." Ada shook her head. "No. It doesn't work like that. Haven't you figured that out yet?" Then she looked back up to he's face. "Or do you still have some youth left in you?" Leon gave her a dirty look. "Youth? I'm not that old." He said. "I wasn't talking about anything physical Leon. You look fine."
Leon thought for a moment, but just ended up shaking he's head and going back to he's original fast pace. Ada kept up, still staying behind, watching Leon's back.
Soon the sky went from a light blueish purple to and more pick color, reflecting beautifully against the white snow. The pair's shadows becoming now red instead of a dark blue, with only the vary tops of the shadows being lightly purple. Leon watched the red outlines of himself and Ada intensively, getting increasingly more and more bothered by it. He started walking faster the more he watched their outlines. Ada turned to him annoyed. She spoke up. "Why are you running? Isn't this supposed to be a nice, calm, romant-" She was cut off by Leon grabbing her hand and pulling her closer to him as they speed walked. "I'm just sick of the cold right now Ada. I want to go home."
Not much was said for a few good minutes. Ada still watched Leon closely, not being pleased with the position she was in, but didn't stop he's speed, really she was getting sick of the cold too. And lucky for both of them a small wood sign said that they where almost on their way out, and the snow on the ground got even taller with the trees above getting farther and farther apart. "Finally." Leon signed, as he looked up from the ground too the road in front of him. "Well, what do you want to do now?" Ada asked. "Go home." He replied, much to Ada's disappointment. "You know," Ada started. "I think I'll stay in a apartment tonight." Leon looked at her, genuinely surprised. "Why would do that? You've been staying with me for a while now, and you never had a problem with my house before." Ada nodded. "I know." She answered. "Please, we only have so much time left together." Leon begged. "We have a week left, that's still plenty of time before you have to go." "And then what?!" He yelled. "After that, how much time will we have left after that?"
Ada stopped walking, which forced Leon to stop as well. "What is that supposed to mean?..." Leon answered, not looking back at her. "We're getting older, you know." He said quietly. They stayed quite for a moment, before Ada said. "Your right. And..." Ada grabbed Leon's hand and looked up at him. "I'm so sorry. I didn't want it to be like this."
Things stayed still for a moment before Ada walked in front of him and pulled. "Come on, let's get back to your house. I'm cold." "Uh- yes, let's go." The pair walks out of the park at a more normal pace again. They don't talk anymore as they go home. Leon kept looking at the ground, not wanting to look at Ada again, it hurt too much right now, but he was still pleased that they where holding hands. Which was something Ada rarely did with him, hopefully it would happen more often from now on. He could only hope, and it was the same for her.
The End
