We hit 300 Visitors on Sometimes Life Happens! But I said I wouldn't update it for a few days, so here's a one-shot to celebrate. This is a short one because I don't know how to make it longer without ruining the story or making it drag on. Enjoy~
"I'm pregnant."
The black haired man gives a shocked expression towards his roommate and friends with benefits partner. "Are you sure?" He asks the redhead who sighs and sits down next to him. Their golden retriever, Pikachu, comes to snuggle next to her on the couch.
"Three positive tests, Ash." She puts three white sticks on the coffee table in front of them. Each stick says Pregnant on it.
In a hesitant voice, Ash asks, "Do you know whose it is?"
He gets hit hard by her mallet. "Ash, I've been sleeping with you!"
Rubbing his head, he says, "Well, we've both been sleeping with other people too. We're just friends with benefits, Mist." he sheepishly rubs the back of his neck.
Ash and Misty met at the age of 10 during swim practices. Misty was a natural swimmer who had been swimming for years while Ash was new, so the instructor paired the two together. They became fast friends and moved in together after graduating from college. Misty is currently an athletics trainer at the nearby college while Ash is a high school teacher. After a drunk night 2 years ago, the two have been comfortable with their relationship as friends while also enjoying the benefits part. Now, they are 26 years old and Misty finds out she is pregnant.
"I'm pretty sure it's yours. I've slept with you the most these past few weeks." She nonchalantly tells him. Being roommates, it is just easier walking to the other room and asking for sex when they want it rather than trying to wait for someone to arrive. The convenience of living with your sex partner is very appealing, so the two sleep together more than often.
"Okay. Well, who else could it be? Because if I'm 100% sure it's mine, I'll have to tell my mom." Ash glances at Misty. "Uh. That is if you plan to keep it. It's up to you what to do." He quickly adds.
Misty rolls her eyes. "I have a house, car, and good paying job, Ash. I'm keeping the baby." She then takes a deep breath. "But I did sleep with Rudy a couple times these past 2 months."
He sighs and runs a hand through his hair. "Did he use protection?"
"Ash, I'm on the pill. Rudy doesn't need to use a condom. You know that."
"Right...But how'd you get pregnant if you're using protection?"
This question results in an annoyed glare from the redhead. "No protection is 100%, Ash."
Although Ash knows he should be supporting Misty during this time, he is nervous for himself. How is he going to tell his mother that he got his roommate pregnant? Does this mean he has to marry Misty now? What if the baby comes out and it's Rudy's? Ash groans and lays back on the couch. "What do you want me to do, Mist?"
She rolls her eyes at him. He's taking the news worse than her, but that's probably because facing her sisters' judgments isn't as bad as facing Ash's mom's. "Whatever you want to do, Ash. I'm keeping the baby no matter what you decide."
Despite being friends with benefits, the two roommates are still really good friends, and Ash knows a good friend supports their friend no matter what. He'll deal with the baby thing later when it comes out. For now, he needs to be a friend to Misty. He gives her a weak smile. "Mist, as your friend, I'm here for you."
What is it with me and my characters having babies? I'm big on family and find it adorable. That's why. Anyway, this is just a quick one-shot. If enough people request it, maybe I'll make it into a story. Who knows? Or feel free to make it into a story yourself.
