RE-EDIT
Within a Hyperion train car. A young woman with naturally straight black hair that's about chin length is sitting on chair right next to the window. Peering out through the glass. All the woman can see is endless desert provided by the planet she's on. That planet being called Pandora. Lying on the floor underneath the seat is the female's green duffel bag. 'Can't believe I'm actually here looking for a Vault. I didn't think any of the major corporations would hire me for such a task.'
She still remembers when she got the invite while on Eden-3 a few weeks ago. A mailman from the Hyperion Corporation tracked her to a bar she was in and handed her the piece of paper. It was even signed by the current CEO. It said Handsome Jack needed strong Vault Hunters to help him locate the new Vault on Pandora. There was a big reward for any of them when they manage to find it.
Of course the reward sounded really nice but the idea of trying to find the alien cache what really got her to accept the job. As it would take a good while to find such a thing. From the stories she was told as a child, the Vaults were almost impossible to locate. It could take a person years just to find one, even with vast resources.
Obviously she wasn't the only one who got the invite. It would take more than one Vault Hunter to help Jack find it. In the train car with her are three other people. A short man who appears to stand at 5'4ft in height. With both his hair and beard being a dark blue color. His outfit comprises of a orange T-shirt and a white shirt being worn underneath it, dark pants being held up by a belt that has a buckle with a skull an crossbones on it, and brown shoes. He looks like he might be in his thirties. The man is standing close to the opposite wall with his arms crossed over his chest.
The second man seems to stand at 5'9ft in height. He has brown hair, green eyes, and looks fairly young. Most likely around in his mid-twenties. He's wearing a brown shirt with a off-center zipper and a skull stitched on the left sleeve, green pants, and boots with metal reinforcements. He's sitting on a chair that's a little more close to the middle of the train car.
The last person is a strange one. As she can't tell if they are male or female, as their outfit does a good job of hiding their gender. A black and white full body suit with grey padding that acted as armor and a red zero on the left side on their chest. A helmet that covers their whole head and a large black visor that covers their entire face. Though the most surprising thing about them is the fact they only have four fingers on both hands. Three fingers and a thumb.
Just then the door to the car opens up and a woman walks inside. The woman stands at 5'7ft in height and has pale skin, blue painted lips, and short blue hair. While hard to tell, she seems to be in her late twenties. Her shirt is mostly yellow with some grey mesh at the sides. Her right arm is completely covered in one long sleeve and a black glove is being worn over her hand. While her left arm and hand are completely exposed for anyone to see. Finally there's the dark blue pants and yellow shoes. But the most shocking thing about the bluenette is the fact she's a Siren. By the obvious blue tattoos on her left arm.
The young woman found the Siren to be very beautiful. Though quickly looked away as not to be caught staring. The blue haired woman walks to the back of the car and takes a seat. "Welcome aboard Vault Hunters. This is handsome Jack, thank you for accepting my job of helping Hyperion to find the new Vault. It'll take a few hours to reach our next stop. So in the mean time enjoy the food and drinks we provided to you over in the next train car. Again, thank you for your help." Said the voice of their employer over the PA system.
With the mention of food and drinks. The short man runs to the end of the car and throws the door open. "Fiesta!" He exclaimed with his hands over his hand. The woman gets up from her seat and follows the man into the car. To her surprise she sees tables filled with lots of food of all kinds and different brands of alcohol.
Already the man grabs a small six pack of beer and starts drinking out of a bottle. The other three people walk in as well. The black haired woman steps in front of table that has burgers and hot-dogs. The sight of the food makes her mouth water.
For so long she ate nothing but MREs or protein bars. Having real food in her will be like heaven for both her stomach and taste buds. On the table is a small stack of plastic plates. Grabbing herself one, the woman reaches for the hot-dog buns that are next to the plates. Putting it on the plate and putting the plate itself down onto the table. With her fingers she splits the bread open and with a pair of tongs she takes hold of a warm dog and puts it in the opened bun.
Placing the kitchen tool down. She next grabs a bottle of ketchup and squirts some down the middle, she then grabs a bottle of mustard and squirts that over the red condiment. Now with her food prepared. The black haired female takes a seat on a nearby chair. Though before taking a bite, she looks up at the others. The guy in the brown shirt is simply drinking a bottle of beer.
While the person in the helmet is leaning against the opposite wall with their arms crossed over their chest. Makes you wonder why they even bothered to be here where the food is if they're not going to eat anything.
But most the surprising sight is the Siren standing in front of a table just diagonally left of her. Looking at the food with a quizzical expression on her face. "What's wrong? Never seen a burger before?" The female asked to the bluenette, with a hint of amusement in her tone. The pale skinned woman looks over her shoulder to glance at her. "I haven't really seen any of this kind of food, before. If I'm going to be honest."
Hearing that got the short man to cough. Pounding his chest to get his coughing fit under control. He turns to face her, "Amiga! Did I hear you right? You never seen a hot-dog or burger before?" Everyone else in the train car all look at her. She only answers with a shake of her head. "What about a steak?" Asked the brown haired man.
"...What's a steak?" She asked innocently. All three of them became jaw dropped save for the one in the helmet. Instead a shocked red emoji face hovers over the visor. Which surprised the black haired woman a little. 'Guess that's how they convey emotion.'
The short man puts the pack of beer down and pats his hands together. "Amiga! You've been missing out, let Salvador help you." He walks over to the blue haired woman and stands by her side. Pointing out the food on display and what they're called.
With those two being occupied, the young woman goes back to her meal. Taking a huge bite out of it. She chews up the meat, bread, and condiments into mush. The mixed flavor made her taste buds explode. "You know? Since your arrival, I had this question nagging in the back of my head. But now I got to ask. What's a Crimson Lance soldier doing here on Pandora? Weren't you guys kicked off this planet? And how could there be any Atlas military operations left? The whole corporation went under years ago."
Swallowing the chewed up food, she turns her head to see the brown haired man is looking at her. Answering his questions. "I'm actually not from the Crimson Lance." Pointing a finger at her, he asks. "Then why are you wearing the armor? Did you steal it?"
True to what he said, the young woman is wearing the standard infantry armor all the foot soldiers are issued. Though she made some personal changes to it. For starters she painted the silver metal shoulder guards and metal leg guards a purple color. But kept the armor that covers the entire torso its silver color. Though she painted a few images on the front. A black bird with sharp red eyes, wings spread out and sharp talons ready to grab its next prey. And the words 'Daddy's girl' written in pink. All infantry men and women are issued a pair red military trousers with the armor but she replaced them with purple trousers that is being held up by a black belt. On her hands are a pair of silver gloves that stop halfway up the forearms and silver calf length combat boots. Strapped to her right thigh is sheath combat knife.
Sheepishly she rubs the back of her head. "I guess you can say that. The armor belonged to my mom when she was a infantry woman in the Crimson Lance, after getting promoted to the rank of major. She was removed from the front lines, causing her to hang up her armor in a display case within her study room in our large house." A fond smile finds itself on her face. "I remember I would sneak into her study just to look at it."
Eyes focusing back to the man, she notices in the corner of her eye that the other occupants are looking at her as well. A faint blush appears on her cheeks. "Anyway, back to why I'm wearing the armor. Shortly after turning nineteen, which was three months ago. I took it without permission and left home to be a gun-for-hire. Even though I didn't want to become one."
"You wanted to join the Crimson Lance. Am I correct?" Said the person in the helmet. Very much surprising her. That's the first time they spoke since getting on the train. And their voice while whispery did not help figure out their gender. As their helmet could most likely alter their voice to sound like that. Regardless she's gonna use the he/him pronouns for him and hopes he'll correct her in the future and not be offended. "Yep. Both my parents were in the army, so it only makes sense for me to follow in their footsteps. But when Atlas went under five years ago, when I was fourteen. My dreams were all but shot. To make matters worse a rival corporation bought the rights and now owns all of Atlas. And so far they did nothing with the bankrupt company."
"Whoa, whoa! Back that up by ten seconds. You've been a mercenary for three months?!" Asked Salvador in a surprised tone. Simply nodding to answer the question. "No offense, but if you're this green. Than why did Jack hire you to find a Vault?" Asked the brown haired man.
Shrugging her shoulders, "I ask myself that question sometimes. I mean, I'm good with a gun do to the training my dad gave him during my teen years. But three months of mercenary work isn't anything special." For a few long moments they all stood there in silence. It wasn't broken till the Siren spoke. "Well I'm sure we'll get to see what you're made of when reaching our final stop."
"Speaking of which. Since we were all hired by the same man. It only makes sense will be working together to find the Vault. So I think we should introduce ourselves and explain why we're after it."
They all can see the logic in that. The greened eye man gestures to himself with a thumb and a confident grin finds itself on his face. "My name is Axton. And I'm looking for the Vault for personal glory." The newly named Axton explained.
Next is the helmeted man's turn. "Zero is what people call me/ I'm searching for the Vault for a challenge/ Nothing has given it to me...yet." The newly named Zero explain. In haiku no less. Next was the pale skinned woman. "My name is Maya and I'm looking for the Vault as it has a connection with Sirens."
Salvador proudly boasts. "I'm looking for it because it sounds fun!" Finally it was the nineteen year old's turn. "My name is Raven. I'm looking for the Vault because I know it's something that won't be found in one day."
They found that to be a odd reason to find something as grand as a Vault. Though no one got to question it as Raven excused herself to use the bathroom. Entering back into the train car where they all were in minutes ago. Raven walks down it till she reaches the small bathroom at the end. Heading inside and closing the door behind her.
After a few minutes of doing her business, the young woman stands in front of the sink and washes her hands. Grabbing a few paper towels out of a dispenser on the wall and using them to dry her hands. Raven throws the soaked pieces of paper into a nearby trash can and looks at her reflection in the mirror. And she's honestly not sure why.
Her appearance hasn't really changed since leaving home. Her fair white skin is still smooth and lacking scars, the black lipstick painting her lips hasn't smeared, and she still has both of her sharp green eyes. And while it can't be seen to do the gender neutral look of the Lance-man armor. Raven has a slender figure with curves in the right places and standing at 5'9ft in height.
Slipping on her gloves, Raven exits the bathroom and walks back to the chair where her duffel bag is. Getting down onto one knee and pulling it out from underneath the seat. The woman lifts it up and puts it on the chair. She then unzips the main compartment and grabs something out of it. That something happens to be a silver Lance-man helmet.
Raven made no changes to the protective armor other than replacing the two red eye lenses for purple ones. Putting it down on the chair next to her bag. She next pulls out a gun no one has seen in a good amount of years. A S&S automatic assault rifle painted in their trademark yellow and black color. The last gift from her dad before leaving home. "Thanks dad." She mumbled with a fond smile. Slinging the weapon onto her back, she then reaches for a side pocket and unzips it.
The items she pulls out of the little compartment are very unique. Those items being two silver orbs the size of ping pong balls. Both orbs have one thick color line going down middle, making a complete circle. One blood-red and the other light-blue.
To this day Raven has no idea where the orbs came from. They were in a small lock box that was left on the welcome mat in front of her motel door. Tapped on top of it was a note that read. 'They'll help you. Their names are...' She didn't finish reading the rest of the note as she was confused on the 'They'll help you.' part. So opening the box, what was inside were the orbs.
Attaching the two spheres to her belt and grabbing the helmet and tucking it under her right arm. Raven stands up and begins heading back to where the others are. Just as she made it halfway. "Halt!" Said a robotic voice from behind. Turning around, standing eight feet away is a trio of yellow blocky robots with one red optic.
The one in the middle pulls out a gun and points it at Raven. Causing her to go wide eyed, "Jack says die Vault Hunter and that it's nothing personal." It then pulls the trigger. Raven action rolls at the last second, avoiding a bullet to the head. When the roll finished, she springs up onto her two feet and with speedy reflexes grabs the assault rifle from her back and points it at the robots.
Pulling the trigger, a hail of bullets rain down onto the machines. Once the robots were riddled with enough holes to make swiss cheese jealous. The armored woman lets go of the trigger. The only sound being made is her heavy breathing. Getting it down to normal levels and being able to find her voice from the shock of almost being killed. She says, "Wh-what the hell was that?! Why would Jack want to kill us? He hired us to find the Vault for him."
From behind her the sudden sound of gunfire coming from the train car where her new allies are can be heard. No time to think on it she reloads her gun, grabs her Lance-man helmet she dropped, and slips it on. Raven then dashes for the door and throws it open. The first thing she sees is Axton running up to her and then sliding down the car. He comes to a stop about a few feet from her and throws something up to the roof.
Whatever it is it sticks to the roof like gum, "Get down!" He commanded. She wanted to ask why, but his tone gave her no room to question. So ducking, the sudden loud sounds of heavy guns firing could be heard above. Luckly the helmet can muffle loud sounds like explosions or big guns if the person is too close.
Once the rattling stops, the young woman looks up and sees a auto-turret. 'So that's what he threw.' Raven thought in slight awe. "Didn't know you were bringing friends." Said the Commando. Peering over her shoulder, Raven sees a horde of recently destroyed robots in the train car she was just in.
"Maya! Incoming!" Axton aims a massive rocket launcher and fires. The rocket soars pass the Siren, crashing into more incoming robots and then exploding. A surviving robot marches towards her, but it's stopped dead in its tracks when it's lifted up in the air. A ball of energy surrounding it. With her tattooed arm the bluenette waves it to her left. Causing the robot to be tossed in that direction, creating a hole in the side of the train car.
Salvador jumps through said hole and from his inventory pulls out two assault rifles and is surprisingly able to hold one in each hand and fire them. The yellow robots stood no chance and fell to pieces. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! THIS IS SO MUCH FUN!" The short man bellowed with a huge smile. He gets so caught up in the moment he points upward to the ceiling, still firing his weapons.
The only person who's not in the car with them is Zero. Though Raven chalks it up to him fighting somewhere else. Once the area is clear, the Vault Hunters group up in the middle. "Either Jack is testing us, or he's trying to kill us so no one can get to the Vault before he can." Said Axton.
"Kill us. One of his robots pretty much said it to me before trying to put a bullet into my head." Raven confirmed. "Then that means we should have a nice chat with the man." Said Maya, pulling out her electric Maliwan SMG. "I agree with the Siren. Because I have some personal beef with him." Salvador said, calming down from his high and reloading his rifles.
"By my guess he'll be at the front of the train. We're gonna have to fight our way through a lot more of his robots and whatever else he has in store for us. Everyone here ready?" The former soldier asked to his new teammates. They each nod their heads. "Alright then, lets go get this Handsome Jackass."
The five Vault Hunters battle their through the long train, killing both robots and Hyperion personal. When eventually reaching the very front of the train. Axton and Maya place themselves to either sides of the door, Sal in the middle, Raven off to left, and Zero finally showing up by falling through a hatch in the ceiling. Holding his sword in one hand. Now everyone together, the soldier kicks the door open. And right now they all wish he didn't.
"It's cute ya'll think you're the heroes of this little adventure. But you're not." Said a dummy of Handsome Jack sitting on a chair with a bomb strapped to its chest. Surrounding it are piles upon piles of more bombs. "Welcome to Pandora kiddos." The last thing any of them saw and heard was the explosion.
