I do not own Inuyasha
Ch. 1
Osaka, Japan
His life was planned out the moment he was conceived. Every detail, every minute of every day mapped out.
His parents both came from a lone line of purebred dog demons. He was to be the same. To be perfect in every way.
His name…Sesshomaru Takahashi.
As he grew, he was everything his parents could every dream of. He was cunning, resourceful, a genius.
With the perfection though came with a price.
When he was young, barely a teenager in demon standards, his father left. For another woman. A human.
I was instilled into him at a very young age, from both parents, that humans were disgusting, filthy, greedy creatures, not to be trusted. When Sesshomaru's father left to be with one, it was the ultimate betrayal.
His heart hardened and he stayed with his mother for a time until she too did not want him. He was at an age where he made a conscious decision to finally meet the woman who stole his father's heart.
Approaching the front door to his father's mansion he was greeted by said human. He greeted her with indifference. His father was happy to see him and was greeted by a new member of the family whom Sesshomaru had no prior knowledge of.
He now has a half brother…InuYasha, who is five.
The first year with them was hard. It took a lot of his patience to not to chuck his half breed brother every time he jumped on his back.
His father had to threaten him several times that he would not get his inheritance if he was not nicer to his little brother. 'Nicer' was not part of Sesshomaru's vocabulary.
Time went by and Sesshomaru graduated high school and had two years of college credit under his belt. He graduated college at eighteen. Even though his parents were no longer together, everything they instilled into him at an early age was still there.
After graduating Sesshomaru immediately started to work at his father's company and he immediately started to gain a reputation.
Sesshomaru was ruthless. It was almost on a daily basis that if you pissed him off even once you would most likely end up in a bodybag.
InuTaisho had to once again put a squelcher on Sesshomaru's actions. He partly blames himself for Sesshomaru's attitude, but his son was good at what he did.
When Sesshomaru turned twenty-five, InuTaisho brought up a new merger for the company. Along with the merger, Sesshomaru had to marry the eldest daughter of the family.
Sesshomaru agreed to the arrangements. It was a good merger and Sesshomaru thought it a good match even though it would be an arranged marriage.
When he met her, it was a done deal. She was beautiful. Her dark hair, red eyes, her body form fit to the suit she was wearing. She was perfect, like him.
Her name…Kagura Onigumo.
They had a two year engagement to make it look good for the press. They had a big wedding and a month long honeymoon.
Unfortunately there was a dark cloud on the horizon for the couple. For reasons unknown, they could not conceive.
Months turned to years and subsequently both of them stopped trying. Especially Kagura.
Most of the time she wasn't at home for weeks on end.
Sesshomaru thought he had everything, but in the end he had an empty home, empty life filled with nothing but work, and empty heart.
This is where this story ends.
So this story begins.

"Yes," Sesshomaru spoke.
'Your father is here to see you'
Sesshomaru sighed, already feeling tired from the day.
"Send him in."
His double oak doors opened promptly after that.
InuTaisho was an impressive man. Tall and lean, a ponytail set high on his head, amber eyes looked upon his eldest son.
"Good morning Sesshomaru," he said taking a seat in front of his desk, hold a file in his hands.
"Hn," was Sesshomaru's response.
"Sesshomaru," InuTaisho said his name a little more sternly to get his attention. Sesshomaru looked up from his work, a little annoyed.
"Yes father?"
InuTaisho lifted the file for Sesshomaru to see.
"The plans for the new location in Chicago," InuTaisho handed him the file.
"Why are you giving me this?" Sesshomaru asked.
"I want you to oversee the final steps," InuTaisho said, matter of factly.
Sesshomaru sighed, turning the file over in his hans feeling the weight. He set it gently down on his desk as if it were the most precious thing in existence.
Over the years the company had expanded exponentially. Part of the their expansion was to put a branch of their company in America. They thought about building in New York, but there was just too much going on in that city. So they settled on a more central location; Chicago, Illinois.
"When do you expect me to leave?" Sesshomaru asked already opening the file and going over its contents.
"Within the month, preferably. What will you tell Kagura?"
"Nothing," Sesshomaru said adding a little venom to his tone. She had been gone for over a month, going around spending his money and sleeping around. No matter how much she washed herself, he could smell the men on her. It disgusted him to no end and what really got him was that she didn't care.
InuTaisho took a deep breath.
"The board are getting antsy. They expected you two to have at least two pups by now."
"Father it is none of the damn board's business. I will have a child when I am damn well ready for one, but as it is Kagura insists on sleeping with other men," he said all of this, temper rising and standing very slowly.
InuTaisho nodded and stood up himself.
"Well then with that said, I shall leave you so you can prepare," InuTaisho turned and left his oldest to fume.
InuTaisho felt himself partly to blame for Sesshomaru's current situation and for Sesshomaru's attitude and temperament. This was why he chose Sesshomaru for the job of setting up the company in Chicago. To get him out of the country, away from family and home. He hopes that this endeavor would help calm him down.
It was a long shot by far.

two weeks later…
Sesshomaru zipped up his last suitcase, getting ready to leave the following morning.
It was silent in his home if you could call it that. It had six bedrooms, four bathrooms, a living/family room, dining room and kitchen, and a downstairs swimming pool. The only upside to this house was the gardens and land it resided on. Sesshomaru felt his most calm in the outdoors.
He set his suitcases on the floor in front of the front door just as it opened.
Kagura waltzed right in and set her own bags on the floor. She noticed Sesshomaru standing right there, but he didn't phase her. She just noticed his suitcases and crossed her arms.
"So where are you going?" she asked accusingly like he was off to see a mistress or something. Her ton and words pissed him off.
"Chicago," was his answer and he waited for her to understand. Finally it did.
"Oh."
Then she got a look in her eye and approached him lithely.
"Oh how have I missed you," she said smoothly, her attempt on seduction not lost on him.
She reached for him, her hands immediately going for his belt. He just watched seeing what she would do. Inside he was seething.
No she would not get what she wanted.
He stopped her just as she finished unbuttoning the top button. She looked up and saw his eyes redder than blood. Thinking that he was just as excited as she was, she promptly turned her back to him and dropped her dress. Kagura then walked to the back to one of their couches and bent over.
The next part she was not expecting. She did not hear him coming. All she felt was a vice grip on her hips and the thrust into her core.
Sesshomaru did not let her enjoy it. Life had given him the short stick and he took all of his frustrations and anger on her, most of those frustrations were because of her.
"Sesshomaru!"
Kagura couldn't say she didn't enjoy it. It was just more rough and it had been a while since they had intercourse.
They went at it all night.
In the morning Sesshomaru showered thoroughly, getting the nights events off of him.
He left soon after, not looking at his wife whom he left in their king size bed.
From the airport he decided to fly on way to San Francisco, California and drive the rest of the way. He was in no rush.
From San Francisco, he headed north, through mountains, the redwoods, into Oregon along the coast. Then he started to head east until the interstate took him south again and into Idaho. Through all of this he thought that America wasn't that much different from home. Scenery wise that is, the people he could do without. He only stopped to fill up with gas, but he was starting to feel tired.
Very rarely does a demon sleep. Their bodies rarely need it because it leaves them vulnerable. Sesshoamru hasn't 'slept' in two years. His body was finally starting to feel it.
He wasn't going to give in just yet.
Out of Idaho, into Yellowstone and north into Montana he went, fighting the much needed rest his body required.
That is when he got lost. Along the border of Montana and North Dakota, he wasn't sure where. Sesshomaru was getting close to delirium.
He pulled over and set the hazards. He was tired, not just his body, but mentally he was tired of the board, his father, his wife.
For the first time in his life he just wanted to call it quits.
*honk, honk*
He teased his head from the steering wheel to see headlights rom his rear view mirror.
Was it a cop? A stranger?
*knock, knock*
"Sir are you okay?" called a voice.
He rolled down his window.
"Are you okay?" the person asked again. Sesshomaru focused his eyes on the person to find that it was a woman. He didn't answer and he didn't have to. She seemed to know, just by the look of him, how tired he was.
"Do you have a place to stay?"
He shook his head no.
"Would you like a ride? I don't live far from here."
He must have nodded his head yes or something because the next thing he knew he was in this persons vehicle, driving along a dirt road.
He blacked out a couple times, bleary memories of a two story farm house and then a bedroom. Sesshomaru laid his head on that pillow and he was out like a light.
He didn't even remember to ask what the woman's name was.
