So just so no one is confused, this chapter will start just after everyone has found out about the vampires...
The sounds of weapons being loaded up, clicking, swinging and swishing, all echoed through the cabin of Princess Bubblegum. Marceline eyed a stake, curled her fingers around it, and again felt the rush of holding a weapon once more with the purpose of causing mayhem. Her heart was racing and the stake itself causing her hand to tingle.
"Are you sure that we have to do this?" Finn asked. Marceline nearly dropped her stake, she then turned to face him.
"Of course we do. What are you saying? These guys are nothin but trouble." Marceline stated.
"Yeah I get that. It's just... Well you used to be bad too right? But now look, we're best buds. Maybe it's not so different for the other vamps out there." Finn said. A small sigh escaped from Marceline.
"Look, I understand that you wanna help these guys, but I'm telling you that I know from experience; they've all done things way worse than I have in all of the time that I was a vampire. Maybe in the past these guys could've been helped but I doubt that they'll just suddenly pop up on the side of good now." Marceline retorted.
"Yeah plus they give me the hibbie jibbies man! I say we just stake em. RAH!" Jake added, doing a stake motion in the process. Finn then looked around, everyone seemed to be in agreeance. It was now Finn's turn to sigh.
"Well alright then, let's catch us some vamps." He reluctantly declared.
The Vamp Cave
After loading up on plenty of vamp killing equipment, garlic, holy-water, stakes, crossbows, swords, and even more garlic; the group had Jake lead the way to the cave where he'd spotted the vamps. Upon reaching it Marceline held up her hand and motioned the group to halt. She then turned to her friends.
"Alright guys. I've dealt with these guys before, I think I can do it again. So I'm gonna go in there first, see how bad the situation looks and then you can come in after me when I say. Sound good?" Marceline asked.
There was another moment of slight reluctance, however everyone did eventually nod in favor of the plan.
"Great, this should be done in no time!" Marceline said. It was then that she entered the cave.
The darkness was a tad bit overwhelming. It wasn't to a point of blindness, where even one's hand couldn't be spotted, but it was just enough to be nerve racking; even for a huntress like Marceline. Her fingers curled even tighter around the stake, she crouched down and tried to get closer to a wall so as to sneak up on her opponents.
"I smell you." The hairs on the back of Marcelines neck stood up. The cave ignited with light. Marceline turned and looked up at the Vampire King, hovering in the air. His arms extended. His white suit almost glowing through his own created light. His lion mane basking in the intensity of his power. And his crown resting atop his smiling face.
"Marceline The Vampire Queen! That's your new title isn't it?" The voice of the Vampire King rang through Marceline's ears, echoing throughout the cave.
"Vampire King! I've come to put you back where you belong! In the ground!" Marceline shouted.
"Marceline, it's interesting yet pitiful to see that you haven't changed a bit since our last meeting." He calmly stated. Marceline rushed towards him. Somehow, someway though she ended up on the ground. Her lungs devoid of air as the claw of The Vampire King was wrapped tightly around her neck. He'd lunged and taken her down before she could even blink. He'd been squeezing her neck so hard that her fingers lost strength. Her stake dropped.
"I think now is the adequate time to listen don't you?" The Vampire King said.
Marceline could hardly choke out a breath, much less any words. She was left without options.
"Marceline it is good to see you again. I wish ever so much that I didn't have to do this but I know you. I know you so much better than I did all those years, decades, maybe even centuries ago. I can feel it. The void of death. The pit which you sent me to. I feel it leaving my body, and I realize that I've been given a second chance. Do you not see? I breathe air from a new world. A new era of time that I didn't think possible and yet it is here that I shall start anew. Without interference, without bloodshed. Just me and all the time in the world to watch the cosmic wheel turn and what it's new generations has brought." He said.
It is then that his grip loosened. Marceline took in a deep breath, coughing as he then released her. He rose above where she lay and began to walk away. Marceline struggled but managed to lift herself off of the ground, turning towards him.
"You'll... Just go back do doing the same thing... And I'll stop you just li-"
"The Moon." The Vampire King interrupted. The air between the two went silent. Without turning he continued.
"The Moon is also very aware of what you did to her. All of the other vampires are. Just know that The Moon is the most dangerous out of all of them." With that, he disappeared in the blink of an eye.
