Chapter One

Kagome's POV

It has been three years, three years since the battle of Naraku and I was adopted into Sesshomaru's pack. After Naraku was destroyed, we lost more than half our army, Inuyasha had decided to follow Kikyo to hell, and I adopted Shippo as my son in the demon way. Instead of becoming a full demon by the blood bonds between Shippo and I, my miko abilities turned me into a half demon. My appearance has altered a bit due to the blood bond, I still have the same blue-black hair, my eyes are now the same color as Shippo's, meaning they are now forest green, my skin is paler, instead of having ears on the top of my head like Inuyasha did, my ears are now pointed like Shippo's, I have claws and fangs, instead of having a bushy tail like Shippo's, my tail is black in color like my hair and long and thin, I can still use my miko abilities as well as some of Shippo's abilities, such as fox fire (mine is green flames instead of blue), transformations, and I have control over plants. Aside from abilities and appearances, my personality has changed some, instead of being shy in some aspects, I am bolder, I also like to play pranks like Shippo. When we did the adoption, it seems that I gained full demon aging, since I was eighteen when we went through the blood bond, I will look this age for a long time. After the blood bond and receiving a bite from Sesshomaru symbolizing my admittance into his pack, he decided to train me on this side of the well. When Naraku fell, and the wish was made for the jewel to vanish from that world, I ended up with the jewel being absorbed into my body. So instead of the jewel being a jewel, I ended up with the power from the jewel running through my veins, probably another reason as to why I didn't become a full demon. Once I was back in my world, Sesshomaru found me again and decided that I needed to be trained so that I could blend in with other humans. It hid my youki and reiki, I was trained in hand to hand combat, sword-fighting, various martial arts, how to use my newly acquired demon abilities, how to use my new more animalistic traits including how to track, and of course I was taught the ways of demon society. Now three years later, all my training is completed and I have been named Sesshomaru's second in command until he finds a mate, then I become Beta.

I have been summoned to Sesshomaru's office, I have no idea why I'm expected to be here, but I know that if I do not listen I'll be dragged down there by the Killing Perfection himself. I giggle at the image of Sesshomaru dragging me down the hall just so I'm where he wants me to be. I stand outside of his office door and knock.

"Ah, come in Kagome." I hear him respond and walk into the office.

"You wanted to see me Fluffy-sama." I tease and I hear an irritated growl.

"Must you call me that Miko?" He huffs.

"Why yes, yes I do Fluffy-sama." I grin playfully at him.

"Fine, I have a job for you." He starts and I turn from playing to serious. "You are going to be attending the Hunter exams on the continent. I am unsure as to how long the exams themselves will take, but you are going to be getting the Hunter's license in order to give me a stronger standing on the continent. You are not to fail. Have you been keeping up on your training?" He asks me.

"Yes, Sir I have been training daily as you ordered." I respond with a even cold tone that I can see a slight twitch of his mouth indicating him being pleased.

"Good, now you will increase your daily efforts when it comes to your demon senses, strength, speed, and you will learn the native language of the continent so that you are fluent enough to read and write everything. You will only be allowed to bring your clothes, two weapons styles, and of course you can use anything that is considered part of your natural form." He explains.

"Is there anything else I should know about, Sir?" I ask.

"Yes, there is one more thing. This year there will be another person entering that seems to have demonic abilities he comes from a family of assassins, befriend him instead of becoming his enemy. It will keep him from having to go up against you until the third round, which my sources tell me is a fight between the remaining contestants. He wont be a rookie since this is his second time taking the exam." He answers and slides an envelope towards me. I approach the desk and take it opening it and seeing a bio of the person he mentioned. So his name is Killua Zoldyck, he...he looks kinda cute. I think to myself keeping my face blank and nod.

"I understand, Sir. Is this a contact that you want me to obtain on his family's contract with us? I recognize the last name as one of the families we employ under our more...covert dealings." I ask.

"You are correct, Kagome. That is precisely the second reason for you entering the exam. The first being to help me put more of a foothold on the continent, the other is just as you said. The Zoldyck family, particularly his elder brother Illumi Zoldyck has come to me asking to make sure that his younger brother at least makes it to the final round of the exam. The only way I saw that possible was to send my best soldier, one that could not be corrupted." He answers. "I trust you Imoto, I know you will succeed. I did train you myself after all." He adds the side of his mouth quirking upwards.

"But of course, Aniki. I will do what you ask of me." I bow and smile at him cutely.

"Good, now get to training you will be leaving for the continent in two months." He says and waves me away dismissively.

"Yes, Sir." I bow and leave as instructed.

Killua's POV

It's been years since I last tried the Hunter's exam, but this year I will succeed. I have grown closer to my friends from the last attempt I made, I have trained as much as possible since then, but I still have kept things secret from them. They all know that I am apart of a family of assassins, what they don't know is that each member of our family has been 'adopted' by a demon since the day of our birth. This dark secret explains everything, from my blood lust to the fact that I have demonic traits. I am paler than most humans, I can shift my dull human nails into sharp claws, I'm faster than the average human, and can see perfectly in the dark. The demon blood in my veins is that of a thunder elemental by the name of Hiten Reiji. We aren't trained how to control our demon abilities since after the 'adoption' we don't see the demon again. Don't get me wrong, I trust my friends, but the demon in my head says that we need to hide from humans. I can hear him in my head and he was why I snapped and killed during the last exam. The exam starts in two months and I am excited to enter, but I will be doing so without my friends since they are already all Hunters.

"You can always make new friends during the exam." I hear in my head.

"I know that, Raichi. It's just I'm going to be so bored without all of them this time." I respond back.

"I get that, but I get the feeling something big is going to happen for us during the exam this time." He says.

"Like becoming a hunter." I chuckle in my head.

"No, dumbass! I don't know what it is exactly, but I get the feeling we are going to meet someone VERY important." He growls.

"Okay, okay I get it. Well...we will just have to keep an eye out for this mysterious person." I think back then close the link.

I sigh to myself and can't help, but wonder what he means. I mean I know a bit about demons since Gon got me a few books on demons from a Hunter library, but it doesn't say much, and to top all that off my demon doesn't know much about it because he wasn't trained either so we are in the same boat. Over the last few years, the ren training I went through also helped me deal with Raichi, it helped me learn how to talk to him and how to use the lightning powers that were already dormant when me and Gon started. It's been a crazy ride the past few years. We've been all over the place looking for Gon's dad, we've been back and forth to Whale Island to visit Gon's Aunt Mito, and helped out both Kurapika and Leorio. The entire time we were training and sparring as much as we could. I had learned a lot of skills and with the demon book's help, I was able to start testing the more demonic traits. It also helped the Gon is basically a beast. I look outside my window from my hotel room. We are currently in a hotel since we picked up some intel about Gon's dad. I'm pulled from my thoughts with a knock at my door.

"Hey Killua! You got a letter from Illumi." I hear Gon yell through my door. I narrow my eyes and open my door.

"What the fuck does he want." I growl and take the envelope starting to read it.

"Dear Ototo, it has come to my attention that you are joining the Hunter's Exam again. I was writing to let you know that one of our family's contacts from Japan will also be entering the Exam this year. From what I was told by the leader of our contract, they are looking to expand their business to our continent and need a Hunter in order to do that. I enclosed a picture of the contact that will be entering the exam with you. Her name is Kagome Higarashi, we were asked to give you the task of taking care of her during the exam. Your Aniki, Illumi."

I frown at the order and look on the floor, there seems to be a piece of photo paper with writing on the back. My eyes widen at the picture. I see a girl with long blue-black hair like a raven, her skin is pale, she has forest green eyes, she looks to be about my age, she has a heart shaped face and a playful smile on her face in the photo. Fuck she's gorgeous. Still don't want to be a babysitter though. I think to myself and read the back it's in my brother's writing saying. "Kagome Higarashi from Tokyo Japan, age 18, height 5'2, second in command to Sesshomaru Taisho CEO and creator of Taisho Enterprises. Expert in swords, archery, knives, various martial arts. Other talents, but those are unknown.

"Holy fuck! She's perfect!" I hear Raichi say in my head.

"Yeah she's hot as fuck, but I'm hoping that this intel is correct or watching her ass is going to be a pain." I respond.

"Who gives a fuck? If you're babysitting her anyway you might as well watch her ass." He says back and I sigh getting irritated by my perverted demon.

"Keep it in our pants dumbass! She's the second in command to one of the family's largest contract. We can't fuck this up." I scold him.

"Doesn't mean we can't get close to her. Hell it would probably be best if we do convince her to stick to us like glue. Wait...she's Japanese...wasn't Hiten Japanese?" He asks and my eyes widen.

"Damnit you're right! Maybe she knows about Japanese demons." I answer him excitedly. "This might not be such a suckfest after all." I add and smirk.
