A/N: This is an idea I started a while ago; I just completely forgot about it.

So, recently I rebuilt and reformatted my ten year old computer and found some hidden gems in my back up files. I know its been 7yrs and that is absolutely insane, given Naruto isnt even a current anime since Boruto has come along and clearly none of my predictions have become canon (which I never really expected Kakasaku to become canon) I still love this pairing so over the next few weeks and months I am going to be re-releasing some old works and some previously unseen works.

Please understand I am upto date with canon but these predate the series ending. (Which I loved just as much as my imaginings!) Now, given I ama mum now, you may have to bear with me on some of the grammatical and editing errors... I am tired lol and I do this when I have a coffee and five minutes of peace and quiet.

Bare with me!

I do not own Naruto or Associated characters x

Rage, Rate, Review down below or I might not continue and cry under my bed at night...seriously

Sharinganillusion

Despite the youthful appearance of the Fifth Hokage she had never felt older in her life. The Fourth Shinobi War may have depleted her spirit but, the knowledge of her own Will of Fire living on had eased the guilt. Her own Will of Fire, that of Sakura Haruno. Her heart ached; she hadn't foreseen the presence of a grieving boy turning up on her doorstep. Especially, to inform her of her beloved students passing. Tsunade curse of grief hitting her again. Fifteen years after peace had been established.

Taking in the slouching thirteen-year-old, Tsunade, Fifth Hokage of Konoha still didn't know what to make of the new revelation. That corner of her eye twitched, indicating her an oncoming headache that only sake would relieve. She was too old for this, too old for this shit.

"A nomination for the Jounin exams by the Raikage himself is quite an achievement care to elaborate?" she asked; focusing on the very present 'issue' with a raised eyebrow, there was not a single doubt in her mind that the boy was who he claimed to be. It was obvious in his green eyes as he looked passed her, yes, passed her as if he was distracted by a giant elephant behind her.

His bored expression demonstrating an arrogance that could only be attributed to insufficient father figures in his life, or ones with an exceedingly large superior complex. "Not really, Hokage-sama." adding the formality as a well rehearsed nuisance rather than with the respect the title deserved. His hair was short and spiky and much like his mothers in texture. But, it was a soft lavender color, rather than a dashing pink. She noticed his rhombus mark, matching her own discreetly hidden behind a fringe, she cocked an eyebrow, well, that was something. The Hundred Healings Seal that only those with extreme chakra control could manage. "Well, please do." she stated, cracking her fingers, no one annoyed her to this extent with so little words except maybe Kakashi. "He respected the work my mother did to stabilize the health care system across the Land of Lightening. So, when my skills were beyond the academy training he took me on as his apprentice."

Tsunade took his apparent disdain for what it was, the boy was defensive, homesick no doubt; and grieving for his late mother. Tsunade had a better idea now why Sakura had requested the long term mission all those years ago, she had been surprised by her surrogate daughter's insistence to apply for local citizenship twelve months later but, never questioned her dedication to her job. Now she wished she had pushed more. She had no idea Sakura had been seeing anyone, the gossip didn't follow her like it did others. 'Oh, Sakura you should have come to me,' she thought sadly. But, she also knew better. Sakura had changed drastically after the war, where there was once an emanating light from her eyes it was replaced by a grief so heavy few could penetrate. She had never forgiven herself for the role she had entrusted with.

Pulling out the boys birth certificate she noted that no father was listed. "The Raikage sent me to you as per my mother's last request. As you would be my guardian until I am eighteen." The boy didn't look impressed. She doubted he would be here if he didn't respect the Raikage's orders.

"Ataru-san, do you know who your father is?" she asked carefully, Ataru looked passed the Hokage again as if bored, "No, Hokage-sama."

She threw a set of keys at the boy. "They're the keys to your Grandparents place, it has been empty since your mother left."

A figure fell threw her window with a thud; ANBU gear and covered in blood. "Hatake! How many times do I have to tell you my office is not a surgery room!" The boy in her office didn't look amused but, bent over the figure without a word. She stood back as she watched him examine the figure removing his wolf mask, but leaving the navy one in place, "He will be fine, Hokage-sama," almost bored; he started applying chakra to the more in depth wounds..

A groan echoed from the Copy-nin to out of it to give a fuck. The chakra was soothing and somewhat familiar. The boys chakra reserves were impressive, and concentrated. He was clearly on par with if not surpassing his late mother.

Kakashi's eyes shot open meeting green eyes; for a moment he thought of his former kunoichi student then frowned, in his delirious state he noticed the diamond on his head but, this one was clearly a boy.

'Sakura?'

"No," the voice was quipped and short. He knew that voice.

"Little Lightening?" What the hell was the Raikage's pain in the arse student doing standing over him? "Don't call me that." the boy snapped, "I am not five years old anymore, Sharingan Kakashi." he added in the same mocking tone.

The boy clearly wasn't. Had it been that long?

Tsunade watched the exchange with a bemused expression, "I see, you two have met." Kakashi turned to the Hokage surprised to have movement in all his limbs, even if he was a bit weak from chakra exhaustion. The boy still had it.

"Hn" he muttered with non committal in his tone.

"He turned up in the Raikage's office when I was five in much the same fashion, he hadn't been able to get to some meeting point and would've died on the desk if I hadn't been there at that moment." The Hokage raised an eyebrow.

His mother had been away on a mission at the time; setting up a Cloud Medic outpost for civilians in the outer districts. He had been staying with his mentor whom Sakura had a close bond with. Quite often that meant many late nights sleeping on the Raikage's office couch. The Raikage had felt like a stand in grandfather for the boy though he would never admit it out loud to anyone lest he been seen to be weak. Ataru could tell even if the old man never said anything. The Copy nin, the baka, had stood sheepishly scratching his head when he had been healed in front of the Raikage like it was an everyday occurrence. That had made the old man's eye twitch as penance he had demanded that man train his charge for a week to make up for the disturbance to his work. Especially, if he was to keep this event from his own Anbu (though he would definitely be looking into what they were doing if a foregin nin could get into his office); and not to mention the legendary sannin and the scariest of all Sakura Haruno. "Consider it strengthening relations with the Cloud."

"You knew about Haruno Sakura's son and didn't say a thing Hatake?" anger clear on her voice as a fist went through her desk, her hazel eyes burning through the Copy-nin, The Copy-nin turned to the boy shock evident in his one eye. "Sakura had a son?" he whispered, as if clarifying the information.

Ataru rolled his eyes over the fuss his mother had seen to leave to him, the boy outstretched his hand.

The Copy-nin took the boys hand to stand up, as he took in the boys features. He was confused and left a little stunned, "Where is Sakura?" He asked, casually. His voice did not give away his racing mind.

"Hatake… Haruno Sakura has died." The Hokage whispered, still barely believing her own words.

The Copy-nin stilled, and a cold shiver went up the spine of the others in the room. They could feel his grief in the air around them. The darkness that comes when you have lost every single person that has meant anything to you in your life. He glanced over to the young man whom he had previous antagonistic encounters with over the years, he couldn't believe he hadn't seen it before. His face enough like Sakura's that he shouldn't have missed it.

A wisp of a thought niggled at the back of his mind. One he dared not entertain in present company. Without a word he turned on heal and left.
