This story is set during the Easter Island mission of the Soviet Campaign. It was just an idea of a reaction to Cheredenko's betrayal
Field Marshall Bingham had made preparations. There was a full base on the nearby island of Motu Nui. Suspecting treachery, he had brought in an MCV and built up defenses and production buildings. Of note were three Airfields one housing Century Bombers and two basing Apollo fighters. The pilots were the best the Allies had-Badger Squadron
Badger Six was especially mad at the Soviet betrayal. One of the top pilots in the US Air Force he had been fighting throughout the war and been through a lot. He headed toward the attacking Soviet forces. He saw two Twinblade choppers moving to attack the naval base. Badger 6 quickly shot down the enemy copters. A squad of enemy MiGs approacehd and he moved back to the cover of friendly AA. The flak from the defenses took out one enemy plane and forced the other three to retreat.
A pair of Soviet Dreadnaughts approached the Allied base. A squad of Cryocopters moved to neutralize them. At that point the squad of MiGs came back and downed the Allied choppers freeing the Dreadnaughts. Badge 6 attacked the enemy fighters taking out two of them. However he didn't take the third plane into account.
Soviet flight leader Red 5 swooped down on Badger 6 from the blind side and shot up his aircraft. Badger 6 took evasive action as his plane was falling apart. He maneuvered the plane away from his attacker, which put him on a path toward the Soviet base. He pointed his crippled aircraft towards a Soviet power plant and ejected from the plane. As he drifted down in his parachute he watched as the flaming plane crashed into the power plant taking it off line.
As he landed inside the Soviet base,m Badger 6 was quickly surrounded by a squad of Tesla troopers. With no alternative he surrendered. The squad commander contacted the command center
"We have captured one of their pilots"
"Good - bring him to HQ for interrogation" came the reply
Badger 6 was brought into the HQ "Here is the prisoner we caught General
"Keep him over there I will get to him later" Ivanov replied
The tide of battle turned against the Allies and Ivanov's forces eliminated the Allied base and Ivanov was ablr to relax for the first time since the battle began
As the last Allied structure fell under the firepower of Ivanov's forces, the channel to Cherdenko opened up. "We have succeeded. We have defeated Bingham's forces and are just mopping up" said Ivanov
Cherdenko had a sly smile on his face which momentarily unnerved Ivanov.
"Excellent. Thank you for so brutally taking care of my enemies. Thing is, I no longer have any use for you. You know too much and are now a liability"
"What the hell are you saying, Do you mean that crazy stuff Zelinsky told me about before the Mt Fuji mission was true?"
Of course, Zelinsky was a brilliant scientist, but he was also a useful idiot.
"Krukov never tried to assassinate you did he, you faked it, didn't you, Ivanov accused
Of course, I used you for that too. I knew the contempt you felt for Krukov. He may have been an arrogant buffoon, but he was no traitor. I would say das vidana but I assure you we will never meet again" said Cherdenko as he closed the channel
Ivanov cursed the betraying Cherdenko and made plans with Zhana to attack Cherdenko's volcano base. As he made plans he heard a derisive reaction from the prisoner. "Can't say I am surprised. You Soviets don't show loyalty to their soldiers Never have". Cherdenko was dishonest with us he was dishonest with you and he apparently framed Krukov. Typical. I was at Kevflavik when you Soviets started attacking each other–I presume that was because of Cherdeno too
"You speak Russian
"Of course, My name is Captain Dimitri Reznov Serial # 234-96-6128 My father was Victor Reznov who was a hero of the Soviet Union during Stalin's war. Why do I say that betrayal doesn't surprise me– well my father's story proves it.
Rezvov continued his story. Towards the end of the war my father was sent to a base led by a true monster, someone named Nikita Dragovich" said Reznov with contempt Dragovich was developing a lethal nerve toxin called Nova-6 which he intended to use on civilian populations. Dragovich tested the toxins on loyal Soviet soldiers, including my father's best friend Dimitri Petrenko. Dimitri suffered a horrible death. Dragovich would have done the same to my father but British commandos attacked the facility. He escaped and destroyed the entire stock of Nova-6 once he saw what it could do. He didn't want anyone to have it. My father spent years in the Vorkuta gulag as a result. He broke out of the gulag during the uprising in 1962 and defected to America.
"I never heard of anything like that and it doesn't matter now." Ivanov replied "Take him out of here" he said to the guards "I got work to do"
After the battle Ivanov started research on what he had heard. He asked Dasha to find what she could about Dragovich. She found connections to Research Division and suggested the general contact Commander Moskovin who was currently in charge there. He sent Moskovin a message detailing Reznov's story and asking what he knew
Moskovin contacted Ivanov "I found the information you were asking about." I was able to find Dragovich's KGB file. Most of it was redacted and the information on the Nova-6 project is sealed but I was able to do some back channel research. Sounds like your guy's story is true" I found evidence of his sick experiments and his attempted coverup. Dragovich is connected so he didn't answer for his actions. He is still working on projects like that even today. This is what I also found
"Dragovich was working on something called the Desolator Trooper Program. It was based on a cosmonaut exosuit technology using terminally ill patients. We found a way to reduce toxic emitters so they could be carried by an infantryman. Devastating to enemy infantry and light vehicles. Cherdenko learned of it during the dark days when it looked like the Empire was going too overrun the country. He planned on using it as a last ditch plan. Fortunately we didn't need it. The program was just too brutal. The remaining test subjects are still in their base in the Arctic. I think they should remain there for however long they have to live, which isn't long from what I hear. The test subjects are basically psychopathic. I hear they killed Dragovich and the other project developers."
"Sounds like something that should just be buried and never used" Ivanoc said
My thoughts exactly replied Moskvin
