Prologue
Border of Shizuoka Prefecture
10:29PM, FRIDAY
Broken down buildings, uplifted street posts, damaged roads— the city was left into nothing but a former shell of what it used to be. No matter where you try to look, there was only devastating damage and destruction as far as the eye can see. Smoke emitted from random fires as the casualty that erupted did not just broke down power lines, but also caused massive fire outbreaks and electricity lines to whip wildly as sparks flew around the wire's ends.
Several heroes stood on the highest ground. Overlooking the destroyed city, they could only quietly spare a brief moment of devastation for the survivors before rushing downwards to the scenes themselves.
"Secure the area!" One hero cried out. "The damage is still fresh! Our main priority is to find any survivors and bring them back to the camp!"
"Help! Somebody help us!"
A small group of survivors had miraculously survived the calamity. They lay beneath a pile of large rubble that formed into a protective triangle above them. Despite having survived the most part of the destruction, they were stuck underneath the debris and did not risk moving too much in fear that the rubble that acted as protection for them would become the same rubble responsible for more injuries.
A building which was barely able to stand on its own had started to crumble. Slowly, it started falling down sideways and was about to hit the ground until a figure flashed towards the group of survivors.
"Do not be afraid!" A loud voice boomed confidently. "Why, you ask?"
In the group of survivors, a small child looked up. His teary eyes widened as he took in the image of the man that stood before him and a relieved gasp escaped him.
"All might!" he rasped out as tears ran down his eyes.
All might's smile didn't waver. "Because I am here!"
Using his strength, the blond hero slowly pushed the remaining debris away and gently helped the survivors away from their hiding place. Once all of them had cleared the area, medical staff and other heroes arrived at the scene.
The muscular hero nodded at the medical staff that tended to the injured and turned back to face the city— or what was left of it.
"What kind of destructive power could've done such a thing?" he asked himself.
"We know what caused this power."
All Might turned around. One of the survivors he had just helped limped his way towards All Might. While a nurse was busy telling the survivor off for walking away from the medical staff, the survivor simply ignored the nurse and shook her off. He stared at All Might with lifeless eyes and an expression of grief and blankness on his face.
"No…" he trailed off as he turned his gaze to the ground. "It's not a 'what'… it's a who…"
"What do you mean?" All Might asked. "No, we will find out eventually. Young boy, you must head back to the ambulance and allow the nurse—"
"NO!" the man adamantly yelled.
All Might and the nurse were taken back by his loud voice.
"That thing… that thing caused all this!" The man said, his voice wavering and sounding borderline hysterical. "That thing! She did this! It's her fault!"
"Who? Who did this?" All Might urged, his curiosity and sense of urgency flaring.
"It was…!"
But before he could continue his words, a bright light suddenly appeared and shot straight into the sky. Slowly it grew wider and bigger, overtaking the city and blinding everybody in it.
Instinctively, All Might raised his upper arm to shield his eyes from the light, but it was no use. It began to envelop the entire area and he could no longer see anything aside from his own arm in front of his face.
"What's happening?!" he yelled out.
There was a brief moment of silence.
Then a loud explosion cleared the air and deafened all that was near enough to hear it.
