~Beast's Castle~
In a castle in the United States of Auradon, a young man with dirty blond hair stared out the window as he was fitted in a blue suit. This was Prince Benjamin, soon to be the new King of Auradon, though commonly referred to as Ben, Son of King Beast and Queen Belle. The tailor at his side continuously directed and moved Ben as was needed for the prince's fitting. He moved around not truly paying attention to what was happening.
Ben was nervous. He had been thinking about his first proclamation for weeks; ever since he started having dreams about a girl with purple hair. He was determined to find her and somehow knew he'd find her on the Isle of the Lost. As a result of these dreams he came up with the idea to bring over some of the kids to Auradon. After he first thought it up, he sat down with the one person in all of Auradon he knew would understand and made a plan.
Flashback
Ben and a girl were sitting on either sides of a table that was covered in names and photos with people from the Isle of the Lost.
"Okay Ben, anyone in particular you want to start with?"
"You're the expert on telling if someone can be good, why don't you start."
The girl shrugs and fingers through some of the pictures. "What's the age limit again? And how many are we starting out with?"
"14 to 18 and four."
She nods. "Okay then I propose Carlos De Vil, Son of Cruella De Vil. He's a little younger, but if what the files say about Cruella are any indication he could use some time away from her. It seems like she lost what was left of her wits a while ago."
Ben laughs at her insight and picks a picture of his own.
"Jay, Son of Jafar would also be a good idea. I'll admit, based on what intel we're getting he'll be a little rough, but I think he has a protective instinct and that is often used for good not evil."
She nods and finds the picture for Dizzy Tremaine. 'Too young, but she is definitely coming soon.' Right under it she finds a girl with blue hair. "Alright. Evie, Daughter of the Evil Queen should be our third. Despite her name I think she would be perfect. She seems kind and more intelligent than she looks." She sees Ben pick up a picture carefully and gets excited. "Did you find the girl from your dreams? Did ya! Did ya!"
Ben nods and shows her a picture of a girl with purple hair. "Mal, Daughter of Maleficent. This one's going to be difficult to get past my parents." The girl scoffs and pushes his shoulder.
"Who cares! This is your dream girl and any girl that you feel a connection with, without having even met her in person, means she's gotta be good!" Ben nods determined.
"Alright it's decided. We have our candidates. Now I just have to officially make my proclamation and tell my parents." The girl pats his shoulder sympathetically.
"Good luck with the parents Cuz."
"Thanks Sis."
End Flashback
"How is it possible that you're going to be crowned king next month," Ben's father King Beast asked rhetorically as he and his wife Queen Belle walked into the room, disrupting Ben's thoughts. "You're just a baby!"
"He's turning sixteen, dear." Belle told her husband as a form of reason.
"Hey, pops," Ben greeted casually.
"Sixteen! That's far too young to be crowned king! I didn't make a good decision until I was at least forty-two."
Belle gave a scoff and looked at her husband crossly, "Uh, you decided to marry me at twenty-eight."
"It was either you or the teapot," Beast quipped jokingly as he winked to his son, enticing a chuckle from Ben. Belle shook her head and Beast consoled with a simple, "Kidding."
Ben took a deep breath, "Mom, Dad," he attempted a step forward before being stopped by the tailor. Ben took this in stride before turning back to his parents, "I've chosen my first official proclamation."
Belle and Beast both exchanged looks of anticipation.
Ben took a deep breath. "I've decided that the children of the Isle of the Lost should be given a chance to live here in Auradon." To say the least, Beast and Belle were quite astounded by this proclamation. "Every time I look out to the island, I feel like they've been abandoned," Ben stepped forward regardless of the tailor's protests.
"The children of our sworn enemies... living among us?" Beast said, not quite believing what he was hearing.
"Well, we start out with a few at first, only the ones who need our help the most." Belle soon began nodding, warming up to the idea a little better. Prince Ben gave a warm smile, "And I've already chosen them." 'With a little help.'
"Have you?" Ben's father questioned haughtily, taking a step towards his son. "And who helped you choose them?"
Ben smiled. "Our favorite Earth Ambassador and I combed through the intel on the children who live there and chose them based on potential for goodness and those who most need our help."
Beast seemed to lose a little tension in his shoulders.
Belle put a calming hand on Beast's arm, "I gave you a second chance." She looked back to Ben, "Who are their parents?"
Ben gave a quick glance down before replying, "Cruella De Vil, Jafar, Evil Queen," Ben seemed to hesitate with the last name, "and Maleficent." The tailor in the back gave a sharp gasp.
Beast was enraged. "Maleficent! She's the worst villain in the land!"
"Dad," Ben started, "just hear me out here."
"I won't hear of it." Beast stated firmly. "They are guilty of unspeakable crimes!"
"Their children are innocent!" The prince exclaimed desperately. "Don't you think they deserve a shot at a normal life?" The son looked to his father pleadingly, "Dad."
Both Belle and her son looked at the King of Auradon as he gave into the idea, "I suppose the children are innocent. And if she believes they can change⦠I guess it's worth a try."
Ben gave a nod of affirmation as his father began to walk away. Belle walked up to the prince with a proud smile and adjusted his blazer, "Well done." She turned away towards her beast and linked arms with him, "Shall we?" And then the King and Queen were out of the room.
