So this ancient society was destroyed by these "emeralds". Sonic stared at the writing on the stone wall of the local temple, sonic never really gave any thought about it but now that south island is at risk from that egghead he ran to the temple to re-read the old writings and because of that he has to snag those emeralds.
Apparently these emeralds are the controllers of the chaos but most of the writings are water damaged or faded to be illegible, sonic noticed that in the mural next to the writing there is 6 of these emeralds "well looks like i gotta snag all of these before that oversized egg gets them." unbenounced to the blue hedgehog the 6 emeralds were locked away with 50 golden rings which created large dimensional rings, sonic's mind was blown south island was filled to brim with these golden rings it's just that sonic never knew their purpose.
The next day sonic ran through the very green hills of south island's eastern region, sonic dashed to the top of his favorite hill and saw several machines tormenting the local wildlife this angered sonic and because of that he rolled down the hill and smashed a lady-bug looking robot, after smashing it a bunny bounced out sonic was filled with rage "T-THAT BASTARD PUTTING INNOCENT FOLK INSIDE OF M-M-MACHINES!". After sonic calmed down he decided to name the machine "moto-bug", running,jumping,smashing robots&finally sonic had managed to grab 50 rings with some extras as well in front of him was a giant ring just like the scrolls and wall writing said "*whistle* woah who woulda' thought that these were real.".
Sonic jumped into it with courage, how he would soon regret that: sonic was immediately flung into a world strange colors and flashing lights sonic started to vomit but do to him falling into a pit which led into a maze he vomited all over him self and the floor, he ran and ran and ran as fast as he could but to no avail or atleast he thought before finding a large cluster of crystals surrounding a glowing green light"T-THAT'S IT!" sonic had found the first chaos emerald but grabbing it wouldn't be easy, so he slammed himself against the crystals and after smashing a large hole in the small chamber of crystals sonic grabbed the green gem and was sent into a seziure before waking up back at the green hills however it seemed that the hours went from noon to sundown "ok five left" sonic said before rushing off farther into the area.
"TAKE THIS!" Sonic exclaimed as he sliced the hornet styled machine to metallic shreds with his sharp quills, sonic was still in the hilly area trying to get enough rings to get the second emerald but due to a mistake the hornet esque' robot fired a blast of pure energy at sonic "AHUGHH" sonic screamed in pain from the extreme burning senstation against his chest he fell against the floor and lost his rings "Y-YOU F-FUCKIN' BUZZKILL" while clenching his chest but that's when he had a thought buzzkill, hornet like robot, buzzing noise the wings make, buzzbomber! he said while in pain but he had a job to do sonic stood up and smashed the robot to bits " well on to getting that amount of rings...again *sigh*". sonic grabbed the 50th ring he could find and jumped in the large ring sonic, anticipating more agony like last time entered the zone, thankfully he was sorta prepared this time sonic did what he did last time running through the maze and found another small chamber made of crystals like last time, and like last time he smashed it to pieces and grabbed the second emerald a topaz-ish colored emerald sonic was sent back to the main world again.
