AN: I am writing this because I am under a lot of stress right now. With the pandemic, I was already depressed. Now with the new Animal Crossing game revealed to be an unfinished game despite taking YEARS to happen and being delayed on top of that, I have SNAPPED. I am so done with EVERYTHING right now. I need something to make me feel better, so I am putting everything I like to make my dream Fire Emblem story. Yay!

By the way, I'd really appreciate reviews. I'm not a very confident person as it is even before things got worse so if you leave a review, then thanks!

Also, I'm only putting this disclaimer here once, so here it goes...

DISCLAIMER: I do not own Fire Emblem or anything else. All rights belong to their respective owners. I am also not a lawyer, and do not claim to be one. Please do not mistake me for one.

With that out of the way, enjoy the story!

Once upon a time, there existed medieval times. This is not about those times.

Napping in his bed was the son of Greil, Ike. We'd like to say the year is 2005, but there was too much anachronism stew to call it 2005, so let's say it's the theme park version of 2005.

Ike got out of his bed and went to the kitchen. The Greil Mercenaries were eating breakfast. There were sizzling eggs, greasy bacon, and saucy sausage. Ike was excited to eat. Meat was his favorite!

The lordling took a seat. Today was his birthday, but you knew that already.

"Good morning Ike. Happy Birthday." Greil called out. Greil remembered his son's birthday! How thoughtful! In fact, everybody knew about Ike's birthday, but some tended to try to forget about it. COUGH Shinon COUGH

But enough of that, what mattered is that of Ike's happiness.

"Yay! You remembered! That means we can go to Puck C's Pizza and Games like we planned, right?"

Greil scratched the back of his head in shame. "Bad news arose. Puck C's is closed for cleaning. Damn bird flu's closing everything."

Ike proceeded to burst into tears. "BUT... BUT... IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" He then did a Goanimate dance. Upside down.

Soren intervened in the conversation. "Hold on. I discovered something very important last night, and it has to do with bird flu."

"WAAAAAAAAAAA-wait, really?"

"Yes."

Mist rolled her eyes. "Please don't tell me you're accusing the bird laguz of this..." Remind us how this girl is able to hold the medallion, again?

The mage just ignored the insult. He could smack her later. "Actually, this is much more intriguing. Apparently, a little place called Fódlan has been using bird flu to attack opposing regions, for whatever reason."

Everyone was SCARED.

"Oh no! That is the worst thing I've ever heard!" Mist yelled, implying that there are even worse things than that, she's just never heard them.

Luckily, as the leader of the Greil Mercenaries, Greil thought of a plan on the spot. "Ike, get ready for a long week. We'll be needing recruits..."

"What for, Father?"

"A battle... and I want you to lead the team."

Cue exclamations from every direction.

Titania, second in command to Greil, was especially concerned. "But commander, he can't even adjust his own scabbard! Don't you think the responsibility of leader might be a bit much for him? He's still so young..."

Greil huffed. "A proper experience is the best learning tool. The boy will be able to handle things eventually."

Titania sighed. The commander's stubbornness was as apparent as ever. "Like father, like son, they say..."

After a long time of packing necessities which we shall skip describing because that is boring, the Greil Mercenaries were ready for the lengthy journey ahead.

Greil stood in front of his crew. "Now, any questions before we get going?"

Boyd raised his hand. "After this is over, can we play ski ball?"

Soren slapped Boyd. "It's Ike's party, not yours." He spoke in a stern tone.

Ike gave a glare to Soren in disappointment. "He can play ski ball however much he wants! The point of a party like that is to celebrate it with friends and family."

"Right... sorry Ike. But if you'll excuse me..." Soren went up to Mist, and slapped her.

Mist got pissed. Heh heh, rhyme... "What in the world was that for?!" She rubbed her now red cheek.

"Payback for your accusation earlier."

The commander raised his voice. "Everyone, enough of the arguing. We have more important matters to attend to."

Silence.

"Greil Mercenaries... MOVE OUT!"

And so begun Ike's quest to stop a war that may not even exist for all we know. Bleh...

AN: That's the end of the prologue! Don't worry, starting with the next chapter, there will be more characters than just the Greil Mercenaries! That is, if there is a next chapter. I'm pretty unmotivated, but I'll try to update often.

That's all for now. See you next chapter! I think... I hope.
