It was sunset. Lightkit was cruising just above the clouds, splashes of purple and gold dripping off her fur and feathers. Now this was the life. Away from all her siblings' fights, away from her mother's stern glare, away from the expectations that her whole Clan had for her. It was amazing.
She tucked in her wings, and dived through the wispy clouds, scattering them in her wake. Below her, the ocean stretched so far that you couldn't see any land at all. The last rays of the sun reflected off the water, flashing in Lightkit's eyes.
I never want to leave, she thought to herself. And it was true. Everything around her gleamed and shone in the dying light, so beautiful it looked like someone had taken a giant paint brush and splashed all the most beautiful colours you could think of onto the world.
As Lightkit banked around a pink dolphin, she could hear someone calling her name. There it was again. A third time. Now why on earth would anyone be calling her name?And then, suddenly, her flight was thrown off course by someone shaking her shoulder. Lightkit fell into the ocean and closed her eyes, feeling water pressing in from all sides. This is the end, shethought to herself. And then the water went dark, and a silhouette of a cat broke into her vision, just before she lost consciousness.
Yeah I know this first bit was short, but future chapters will be a bit longer. Also, sorry if I don't write in paragraphs, and please give me suggestions if you think I could improve.
