Chapter 1:

The Only Home We Know

A calm and cool breeze flowed across a small island, right at the center of parts unknown. Many Pokemon who live here usually just rested or play on the island. All of the Pokemon call this island, the Garden of Harmony.

In the middle of a small field of grass, a young Riolu named Saylith laid in the grass and took in the calm air as the sun started to set. But soon someone began to tap on his head, as Saylith lazily opened his eyes, he saw a young Flenniken wearing an incredibly ornate scarf, decorated in bright silver flowers.

Saylith then spoke. "Huh? Layla, what are you doing here?" she smiled at him. "I came to tell you that Gallie is preparing a picnic for us, I was just looking for you."

Layla soon went into a playful stance. "Say I haven't had the time to play around with anyone, how about we race to the picnic?" Saylith sighed at her. "I can walk there, you're no fun, you always beat me," he said before resting back in the grass and pointed at the sunset. "Besides the Song of Orbits is about to start, I'd just like to rest…"

She then smiled. "Alright, you can be that way, I guess I'll have all the strawberry cake to myself!" Saylith suddenly jolted to his feet. "Wait, Gallie made strawberry cake!?" Layla giggled as she ran off, while Saylith ran after her. "Hey, hey! Wait up!"

The two young foxes soon started to dash all across the Garden, rushing through the large forests, leaping over large lakes, and even swung from long vines. Eventually, as they slowly began to reach the picnic area Layla tried to slow Saylith down by getting in his way. Suddenly Layla tripped on a small root causing both of them to tumble down a hill, right at the edge of the picnic area.

Saylith looked up to see his hand touching the blanket, he soon said out loud. "Hah? Hey, I actually won this time!" Layla stood back up and shook off bits of grass in her fur. "No, you didn't I tripped, I would've beaten you!" he looked at her as if she said a joke.

"You got in my way, you were trying to cheat. A fair win is a win!" almost immediately she responded. "Ok that's fair, but… um… I did a cool flip over a tree, so that makes it a tie!"

He shook his head. "You're impossible." the two of them suddenly heard someone laughing. "You two are funny when you argue." it was Gallie, a Shinx who was slightly older than Saylith and Layla, but still very young.

Both of them sat down on the blanket, as Gallie handed a mix of fruits on a small oak slab. As Saylith grabbed a large slice of an apple Gallie reached into a basket made out of a leaf and held together by silk. his face soon lit up with a large smile as Gallie pulled out a small bright pink cake, finely detailed with icing flowers and topped by strawberries. Gallie cut the cake into eight slices and looked at them. "So which one of you wants one?"

Saylith immediately grabbed and held out a wooden plate. "Always the first," he said while he dropped a slice onto the plate. Layla did the same as Saylith wasted no time in consuming his treat before Layla tapped on his shoulder. "Hey don't eat it so quickly, you'll-" suddenly Saylith emitted a high pitched hiccup, and the two began to have a good laugh.

Saylith blushed slightly in embarrassment, as the two of them stopped laughing Layla's smile slowly began to fade and she asked him. "Hey, Saylith I kinda wanted to ask you something, remember the tales of how we arrived on the Garden of Harmony?"

He looked in confusion. "Um… Well yes, why do you look a bit sad though?" Layla looked out to the sunset. "Well, I kinda wondered what lies beyond the Garden," She then pointed to a small part of the coastline where a colossal statue stood just above the horizon.

"But the Golurk always stop us. I want to know what lies out there, I want to explore beyond the Garden." Saylith really did not know what to say. For many years he and the others lived off the wondrous bounty of the island, never once had he given thought to what was beyond the Garden.

Gallie then asked her. "Well… Why do you want to explore the ocean so badly? We've got everything here."

She looked at him and said. "It's not that we don't have enough things on the island, it's that this life is very boring." Layla then took a bite of her cake, before speaking with a cheery tone.

"I just want to go on a great adventure! Exploring deep caves, camping under the stars, and seeing things you would have never thought possible." then her smile faded and she looked at the Golurk again. "But I explored every cave and area of the island, and they won't let us pass."

Layla looked back at Sayltih as she fiddled with her scarf. "Do you think that one day they will let us pass?" he knew for a fact that the Golurk will never let any Pokemon leave the island, but he didn't want to upset Layla. "Yeah, probably when we are a little older."

She looked a bit hopeful now. "And when they do, can both of you come with me?" Saylith nodded his head. "Of course, I'll go on your journey I promise." "Me too," Gallie added.

Layla held out her paw to the group. "Paw promise?" the group placed all of there hands together and said. "Paw promise." the group eventually resumed eating.

Time passed by and the three young Pokemon finished most of there meals. They eventually heard a strange calming of melody somewhere off in the distance eventually, from the trees, someone floated down. It was Meloetta, ruler of the Garden of Harmony. She spoke with a soft and calming tone. "I was wondering where I'd find you three."

The group was somewhat surprised. "Oh, hello Meloetta. Let me guess the Song of Orbits is about to start?" she nodded to Gallie. "Indeed, your instruments are waiting at the Blossom," she floated over to a small stone path and waved her hand to them. "Come now, we must not be late."

The three walked along the path until they reached a large grassy area where a small island rested in the middle of the pond. On the island was a blossom tree with two orbs inside it, one was a shining orange, the other was a brilliant violet. Surrounded by a number of different Pokemon.

Eventually, Meloetta handed them their instruments, Saylith received a violin-like instrument, Gallie was given a flute, while Layla moved to a small singing area. As they took their places and Meloetta sat at the center, she then raised a baton and the Pokemon began to sing. Their song started quietly until it eventually, the area became much louder, a deep wide and beautiful song filled the area.

Suddenly the orange orb started to lower itself into the tree, and the violet orb started to rise. At the same time, the sun began to disappear from the sky and stars began to appear eventually, small flowers began to glow in all sorts of colors faintly illuminating the area. As the song began to stop a brilliant glow slowly rose overhead, the moon appeared and the violet orb was now on top of the orange orb.

With their task done the song came to a complete stop, one by one, the Pokemon left the Blossom now it was time to rest.
