If you're like me, you were really upset when you saw that Doriana101's story "Travel Companions" has basically been abandoned for almost 3 years. I absolutely love that story and was excited to see where it was going, so I decided to just write my own ending, of which this is the first chapter.
Enjoy!!
"Master T'ra, if you're here, please help us."
Ezra cradled Sabine's limp form in his arms, Anzat's pouring rain matting her hair to her skin, which was growing ever colder.
"Don't die on me, Sabine... not now."
He couldn't lose her, not after they had just confessed to the feelings that had been building up over years of friendship. Ezra sniffled as tears began to seep from his eyes, getting lost in the torrent of rain that was soaking him.
All of a sudden, the young man felt something touch his left shoulder, looking to see what looked like a living tree hunched over and peering down at him. His jaw dropped as he realized who it was.
"Master T'ra..."
"Yes, child, it is I", the Neti Jedi responded.
"Master, you have to save my friend. She was attacked by the Anzati and she... she's..."
He didn't even want to say it.
Sabine is dying...
T'ra looked at the unconscious Mandalorian and groaned intently before turning back to Ezra. "I can save her, but we must get out of this dreadful rain. Come, come."
Ezra picked Sabine up from the muddy ground and followed T'ra to a nearby cave. The natural opening was warmly lit by several lamps, and there was a small bed on one wall.
"Take her inside and lay her down."
He did as the older Jedi said and watched as the sentient plant stood over the bed, planting her branchlike limbs on Sabine. She concentrated, reaching deep into the Force, and finally found the rush of energy she was searching for. Ezra stared in awe as the color returned to Sabine's skin, and he could feel her Living Force return to its full capacity. He could practically hear her heart continue beating, just as loud as his own. When T'ra was done, she turned to face him.
"She'll be out for a few hours. Luckily, you saved her before the Anzati could do any major brain damage. The real threat was her body going into shock, the effects of which I was able to reverse."
Ezra released what felt like a century's worth of held breaths.
She's okay... she's gonna be okay...
"Thank you, Master... thank you."
"She's lucky", the Neti added, "Lucky to have someone like you."
Ezra blushed. "Oh, we're... we're not..."
T'ra merely smiled and Ezra just shut his mouth. He knew he couldn't banthashit his way out of this, especially not when he was talking to the Jedi Master who trained Mace Windu. She had decades of experience under her belt, and could pin a lie to the wall before it even left the liar's mouth.
"I'll keep watch outside and make sure we don't endure anymore Imperial entanglements", the elder Jedi told him before she hobbled out of the cave. Ezra nodded and took a seat beside the bed, gently caressing Sabine's cheek with his thumb.
"Ni kar'tayli gar darasuum, Sabine."
Let me know what you guys think. I certainly hope it was at least close to Doriana's writing style and quality.
