It has been a couple of months now and I can hardly believe that Iris decided to marry me. She married me. Our wedding was a bit… crazy, but she made me the happiest man. She is my everything. This weekend I decided that I wanted to do something special for her, so I organized a date night for us tonight. I found recently that it is difficult for both of us to get time off and with everything that has been going on, we need this time for ourselves. Desperately. I miss her.

A shrill ringing broke me out of my thoughts. I looked down at my phone and saw it was Iris. I smiled slightly at the contact photo of her face smooshed against mine, each of us sporting crazy faces. We took this photo at our wedding with goofy hats and mustaches on our faces from the photobooth.

The phone clicked softly as I picked up and put her on speakerphone. "Hey babe, what's up?" I asked her.

"Hey hon, I just wanted to check-in and see how your day is going."

"It's ok… Caitlin is around here somewhere and Cisco is trying and failing to build something new, so I keep seeing smoke coming from his lab. I do not even want to think about what the new Wells is doing."

"Hahaha, oh no. Stay safe."

"Thanks, no promises."

"Well, I just wanted to check-in… I have been having some writer's block and wanted to see what you were up to. I will let you go now if you are busy."

"No, wait! Iris…" I interjected before she had the chance to hang up, "How would you feel about going out to dinner with me tonight. Just us. Tonight."

"Oh, yes! I would love that."

I sighed in relief, "Great! I just thought that with everything that happened these past few weeks you and I are due some time alone. Without the rest of the team… or Joe."

"Oh, trust me, I agree."

"I will meet you back in the apartment at 7 PM and we can just walk to the restaurant. Does that work for you? I kind of already made reservations."

"Barry…."

"I know, I know. I just wanted to plan something nice for us and then got busy and forgot to ask. But it worked out, so we are all set."

"This time. I will meet you at home in a couple of hours." I could hear her rolling her eyes at me over the phone. I sighed… I cannot help it that I get so busy sometimes and forget to talk to her. I know it's a problem. It just happens.

I smiled into the phone, "I cannot wait. See you soon. Love you."

We said our goodbyes, and I hung up. I cannot wait for this evening. I put my phone down and turned back to the report I was writing for CCPD. I was about to finish some final details when a huge boom shook my desk spilling coffee all over my files. Shit. I looked around and saw a plume of smoke wafting out of Cisco's lab. What the hell is he up to now? I looked down. The coffee stain was slowly creeping over my papers causing my words to morph together and created an inky spider web that left my work illegible. Great, that is an hour of work down the drain. I needed to start over, but I guess with my speed I would be able to complete the rest of the paperwork with enough time for dinner. I could not be late for that. However, first I need a new cup of coffee. Time to go to Jitters. I debated asking Caitlin or Cisco if they wanted anything but decided that it would be better if they were left to their work. I am attached to my eyebrows and based on what is going on, they are working on something and should not be interrupted.

I grabbed my baseball cap and sunglasses before I quickly sped out of S.T.A.R labs before I realized I left my wallet and had to go back. Oops. I then made my way to Jitters. They have the best coffee. I am partial to their Flash drink… for obvious reasons, but recently their new cold brew has been my go-to drink.

The door jingled softly as I walked in. I made eye contact with the barista, Ashely. Who smiled and immediately started to make my drink. I love that they know my order, I guess it might be a perk that comes with having a wife who used to work here and mild caffeine addiction. I walked past the line, going right up to the register and ignoring some of the mumbled complaints of the customers still waiting in line.

I got there right as Ashley put my drink on the counter. "Keep the change, thanks, Ash," I said as I picked up my drink and handed her a $5 bill.

"Anytime Bar, tell Iris I say hi and we need to catch up."

"Will do!" I flashed a smile and took a sip as I walked back out the door. I closed my eyes in bliss. This was amazing and just what I needed. Now I just needed to….my eyes flew open, I bumped into someone as I was leaving the shop. I only just managed to save my coffee before it fell to the ground.

Still focused on the coffee I mumbled, "I'm so sorry man. My bad. Wasn't watching where I was going." And with that, I stepped outside and sealed the lid of the cup firmly once again. That was a close one. I walked away from the door to avoid anyone else that I would bump into. I have to say it would not be the first time that something like that has happened.

As I was walking away I heard the person I ran in to respond, "No problem, I wasn't watching where I was going either…" and then faintly question, "Sebastian?" I almost stopped short. Sebastian? I had not heard that name in years….10 years to be exact. There was no way they were talking to me. It was probably someone they were meeting or someone else they saw. No one in Central City knows me by that name. No one. I shook my head and cleared my thoughts. No use focusing on the past, I had work to do and a date to get ready for later tonight. I still could not help but wonder…Sebastian…no… they were not talking to me. With that last fleeting thought, I made my way back to the lab to finish this paperwork for the Captain and go home to meet Iris.
