Prolog: A Mother's Rage! Queen Aleena joins the War!
Time: One months after Doctor Eggman's takeover of Mobius.
Aleena, the former queen of Mobotropolis was with two out of her three children named Manic and Sonia. She looked down at her daughter who was injured during the attack on their former resistance base. With all of their forces wiped out there was no hope for them to stay there.
"Mom we should find another resistance group and fast. Sonia needs help and there's no use staying here. Otherwise well losing her like… like…" Manic said distraught. The mother nodded in understanding and agreement. She knew that her son was right to say such a thing. Suddenly she heard two voices passing the ruins of their former home. Manic decided to go out to see who they were.
"So Knuckles why did you want to come to Mobotropolis's out skirts? No one's been here in almost 17 years. Rogue told that me that no one's to G.U.N's knowledge has escaped form here since Robotnik conquered it years ago." A young sounding voice. While Manic is hiding behind a destroyed wall which use to be a defense for the resistance base has peaked out he saw that the young voice belonged to a two tailed fox with yellow fur and an all too familiar red echidna.
"That's just it Tails. Just this morning Amy and her intel team picked up a distress signal. But it shouldn't be possible." The red echidna told his yellow companion.
"What do you mean Knuckles? Why shouldn't it be?" The yellow fox, now known has tails asked his red companion. At which point Manic prepares to come out of his hiding place.
"Tails, has… has he told you anything about his past?" Knuckles asked the young fox. Tails shook his head in reply.
"No knuckles not at all. What does that have to do with this." Tails asked his friend. Just has Knuckles looked and saw Manic. They both starred in shock for a moment before Knuckles approached Manic.
"Manic, so it was you I heard on that transmission. But how in the world are you still alive?" Knuckles asked the green hedgehog.
"I don't know. We thought you were dead Knucks." Manic said while giving the guardian of the Master Emerald a pat on the shoulder.
"To be honest all me and Sonic remembered was waking up on Angel Island. What about you?" Knuckles asked his old friend.
"Same here but we were at the resistance base. Said they found us outside on the gourd but no sign of you guys." Manic said has he remembered the day he lost his brother.
"Manic what happened to your guys hideout? The last time I was here is was in perfectly good condition. But now it's ruins and I don't see anyone form your group." Knuckles asked his old friend.
"It's terrible Knucks. Me and Sonia were out on a mission and when we got back there was an attack by this guy with incredible power. Our group never stood a chance. We can't stay here. Knuckles, if you know any were we can go." Manic asked his old friend.
"If you guys want, you can join our resistance group. We could use all the help we can get." The Resistance commander told the green hedgehog.
"Are you sure? I mean, will your group's leader be okay with this?" Manic asked his old friend.
"Of course! I'm the commander after all. So that means that there's no doubt that you'll be welcomed there. Especially considering how much we need the help." Knuckles told Manic with a smile.
"Really?! You're a commander? Didn't you get tricked by Robotnik once into letting Dingo and Sleet onto Angel Island so they could take the Master emerald?" Manic asked.
"Yeah he did. But I've gotten better since then." Knuckles said sounding a bit bitter about that time.
"Thanks Knuckles, do you guy have a medical team? Sonia's got hurt really bad and needs a medic. No to mention a copal dozen folks. Most of which are injured." Manic requested.
"Sure thing, give me a minute." Knuckles replied has he raised his hand up to his communicator. "This is commander red to Med alpha 16-1 do you read me?"
"Read you loud and clear commander. What's the situation on your end?" A female mature voice answered on the other line.
"We have confirmed the distress signal and found the source. We have injured civilians and troops and the other resistance base is destroyed beyond repair at this time. We are going to move them to our main base but will need help with the evac. Please call in for armed escorts and any available mobile vehicles intel states we have a copal dozen people here and most of which are injured." The resistance commander ordered.
"Understood red commander. Preparing to move in now. Med alpha 16-1 out." 16-1 responded cutting the line off.
"So Manic wears Sonia? Is she still inside the old base?" Knuckles asked the green hedgehog.
"Yeah, she's with mom. We found her three months ago. Who's that fox with you?" Manic asked his old friend when he noticed the young fox.
"Oh right, Manic this Miles Power but he goes by Tails. He's the technician at our base." Knuckles introduced the young fox.
"Hi, their nice to meet you. Please call me Tails." Tails said with a smile. When he looked at the green hedgehog, he couldn't help but notice that he looked similar to his older brother.
"Nice to meet ya Tails. So Knuckles should we head inside the old base? We gotta get everyone prepared to leave." Manic questioned the resistance commander.
"Yeah your right. Come guys, we got work to do." Knuckles nodded his old friend. So they went inside. Compared to the outside the inside looked more damaged and barely suitable for habitation. The walls were cracked and some looked like they were barely standing. The windows had only glass shards and any furniture inside the base was almost always on its last leg. Not that there was much remaining in the way in furniture to begin with.
"Wow Manic you weren't kidding when you said that whoever attacked your base was powerful. How did some of these people survive?" Knuckles asked the green Prince of Mobotropolis.
"They were just lucky to have found a hiding place. That Infinite guy was merciless in his attack. No one in his sight was spared." Manic stated angerly.
"So the guy who attack you was named Infinite. What can you tell us about him? This could be some important intel." Knuckles asked Manic.
"Wait you mean you mean that you haven't seen him? He's Robotnik's most powerful weapon man!" Manic said in surprise. "He's a Black Jackal named Infinite but we don't know if that's his real name though. He has a sliver mask that for some reason only lets him see out of one eye. Not to mention his ability to just warp reality which a lot of people in our group including me and Sonia theorize that it comes form that gem in the center of his chest." Manic explained to the Resistant commander. Knuckles and Tail's eyes widened.
"Tails show him the picture that you took of that guy who took down Sonic!" Knuckles ordered his companion. Tails pulled out his miles electric and showed Manic the picture.
"Yeah that's him! But wait what do you mean he took down Sonic?" Manic asked in a concerned voice. Knuckles looked at Tails for a moment.
"Tails why don't you help get some of the people here ready to move? I have to talk to some old friends of mine." Tails nodded confusedly and went to do has such.
"Knuckles… what happened to Sonic? Why did Tails seem sad just now?" Manic question the Red echidna who sighed.
"Manic, what I'm about to tell you is something the rest of your family should hear." Thankfully they had just walked into the room that the former Queen and her family was waiting for Manic to return. Sonia who was still injured was a shock to the echidna. Manic spoke to his mother. Aleena told everyone that they were moving to a new resistance base to join with another resistance group. There were cheers of celebration for the fact they would be somewhere away from Robotnik.
"Knuckles, It has been a while since I have last seen you. How have you been?" The rightful queen asked the guardian of the master emerald.
"I'm do alright aside form Robotnik constantly trying to take over the world recently taking over 99.99% of the planet. Not to mention Robotnik has that new weapon. We found out about him a month ago." Knuckles replied to the rightful queen.
"Knuckles I need to know. Did Sonic survive that day has well? If so, where is he?" Aleena questioned with hope in her eyes.
The Commander thought for a moment before he gave his answer. "He did. But we don't if he's still alive or not." Aleena look confused so knuckles began to tell his old friend about how her son was defeated.
Flash back: One month ago.
It had started out like another day for the Sonic Heroes. Sonic was running around the city. Amy was watching Cream while Vanilla was at work. Tails was inventing something new in his lab. Knuckles was guarding the Master Emerald. Team Dark was out on a mission for G.U.N. Blaze was protecting the Sol Emeralds and the Babylon rogues were hover boarding.
Suddenly Tails got reports of Green Hill Zone suddenly turning into a desert. Sonic went to investigate and found that it had become more like Sand Hill. Suddenly he got a distress signal form Tails. "Sonic! Eggman's attacking the city! We need you back here now."
"Don't worry buddy, I'm on my way! Just get the civilians out of their has fast has you can!" Sonic said though his communicator.
"I'm trying, but Eggman's got me pinned down and with a group of civilians." Tails informed his adopted older brother. Just then Sonic made it to were Tails was. He managed to crate an opening to for Tails to get the civilians to safety. However just has sonic was about to attack Eggman's Egg Mobile he was block by-
"Shadow?! What are you doing siding with Eggman? Didn't you promise Maria that you would protect this world?!" Sonic asked his rival and friend. However much to the Blue Hero's dismay the black and red hedgehog did not say a word. Suddenly more enemies for Sonic's past showed Such has The Deadly Six, Chaos and Meal Sonic. Just has Sonic was about to try and attack the Egg Mobile he ended get blocked by someone completely unfamiliar. "What the!" Sonic tried to defeat the masked man but he was defeated in the end.
End Flashback:
"We don't know what happened to Sonic after that. He's been considered MIA for a month now. But he's… most likely dead. We still don't know much about Infinite either. In fact, we only learned his name form your son just a minutes ago." Knuckles explained to the right full royal.
"I see, so that's how it is…" Aleena sights in sorrow worried but hoping that her son was stuck somewhere where away from Robotnik but just couldn't get back to his friends for one reason or another. "We should get started with the preparations to move to your base Knuckles." To this the Resistance commander nodded.
"I've already radioed for a medical team to help with those who are injured and vehicles to transport everyone here." Knuckles told the queen with a smile.
"Thank you Knuckles. I suppose that all there is left to do is disgust the terms of our forces joining together." Aleena said thoughtfully.
"Well, I would like for you guys to be on the commanding console. Sonia could be a combat medic and Manic could sneak into Eggman's factories and gather intel. Plus we need someone to help with governing the areas we free form Eggman too. Whenever that happens." The Commander suggested to the Queen.
"That sounds acceptable. Thank you Knuckles. With that I believe every we need to discuss in regards to that." Aleena said with a smile after seeing her children nodding in agreement. Just 30 minutes later the medical team that Knuckles had bought with him arrived at the base. Med alpha 16 and her team entered the former resistance base. Knuckles was in the same car has the royal family of Mobotropolis. Knuckles was in the back of the vehicle talking with Manic.
"Hey Knucks can I ask ya something?" Manic asked to the commander. Knuckles nodded wondering what it was. "That yellow fox. Tails was it? I noticed that he seems… sad whenever he looks at me. Do you know why?"
It didn't take long for Knuckles to figure out why. "It's probably because… well you look a lot like your brother."
"So, Tails knows Sonic? For how long?" The green hedgehog questioned the red echidna.
"Four years now. He's Sonic's adopted brother. Sonic adopted him after finding out that he had no family. Since he wasn't old enough to adopt him has a father, he decided to adopted him has a younger brother so he wouldn't end up in the foster care system." Knuckles revealed to the blue hero's brother.
"Wow really I've always wanted a younger brother. Don't know about mom and Sonia though." Manic said in a delighted surprise.
"I can't speak for your sister Manic but I feel delighted about this news. But there is something I would like to ask about him." Aleena said has she came out form the transport.
"What is your highness?" Knuckles asked curiously.
"Tails last name. You said that his last name was Prower?" Aleena asked the guardian.
"Yeah that's right. Why do you ask?" Knuckles replied to the queen.
"Because Prower was last names of two close friends of mine before Robotnik took over. Dose Tails know who his real parents are?" Aleena replied.
"No but Sonic was been working to find out has much has he can. It doesn't help that Eggman keeps attacking every three weeks or less." Knuckles informed.
"I see then I will have to look into this later. Right now, it's best that we begin planning our next move against Robotnik.
