A/N: First-ever fanfic! The timeline would be fixed a bit to fit in. My grammar is a bit lousy because English is not my mother tongue. Anyway, please read and review!
In a small empty muggle park, sat Regulus Black.
He was very weary. He has just found out that Voldemort's true color. He was no more than an evil monster who slaughter everything on his way to get power. When Regulus first joined the Death Eaters, he thought that Voldemort would be the Purebloods' savior by bringing back the purity for the Wizarding. But you couldn't just leave him. It's a lifetime of service or die. Then he thought about his mother. She was the woman who has brain-washed him with the whole bullshit purity and that we should kill the Mudbloods and encouraged him to join the dark force. It didn't matter for Regulus anymore. Magic is magic, it wasn't important who could use it. He wished he could be braver and ran out of his house with Sirius several years ago.
Regulus was so deep in thought that he didn't notice the park has been filled with children in the orphanage nearby. Then he saw a little boy being beaten up by three bigger boys. The boy looked around three while the older ones must be five. He rushed there and push the bullies out and threaten them not to harm the little boy. Regulus has always hated the bullies in Hogwarts. Then he turned his attention to the now crying boy. ''Are you ok, kid?'' he asked, raising his hand to the boy's shoulder to brushed off the dust. The moment Regulus touched the boy, he felt a rush of magic through his hand. This kind of sensation only appears when you touch a wizard so he was sure that the boy was a wizard. Then he asked: 'Why are you being beaten by them?'.
"Because I...I can do...things." he boy sniffed.
"Things? Like what?"
'"Like making things..fly without touching them and...and..."
"Ok, so they beat you because of it?" Regulus asked curiously. Children should be thrilled when they see magic, aren't they?
"Y...Yes. They call me a...a freak and start beating me. The orphanage managers won't stop them. I don't have any friend either"
Regulus was fuming. So all the magical orphans are treated in the Muggle orphanages like this? This must be stopped. Regulus has made up his mind. He will adopt him.
"What's your name?"
"I'm Antares"
"I'm Regulus, and I know why you can do things like that."
Antares's eyes opened wide."R...Really?" he asked.
"Yes. It's because you are a wizard. I'm one too.'
"W...Wizard?. So you can do things like me?"
"Yeah, look."
Regulus summoned a rock on the ground to him then transfigurated it into a stuffed puppy dog and handed it to Antares.
Antares looked awed. "I...I...Thank you."
Regulus smiled. "You welcome and you know what? Do you want to live with me?"
Antares thrilled. "Y...Yes, I want to!"
Regulus chuckled. "Wait here, ok?"
~Several minutes later~
"This is the last paper, sir. But I must ask again." The woman narrowed her eyes at him."Are you sure about adopting him?"
Regulus started to get annoyed. He was sitting in the orphanage's office, doing the papers to adopt Antares. The woman in front of him has been asking the same question about a thousand times earlier.
"I'm sure, ma'am. And if this is the last paper, I will go and collect Antares. Good day to you." and he walked out of the office, heading to the library to collect Antares. The boy was sitting on a couch, reading something very happily. Now Regulus had a proper look at Antares. He looked small and skinny. He had straight midnight blue hair and bright amber eyes. He had some scars and bruises on him. Antares noticed him, then ran to him and hugged him. Regulus ruffled the boy's hair.
"You're ready?"
"Yes, I am."
"Let's go then. From now on, your name would be ... Antares Regulus Black."
And with that, they walked out of the orphanage and apparated to Regulus's house.
