Chapter One
"That's it forehead, you are finally packed up and ready to go!" Ino squealed, her blonde best friend was jumping with joy. The two of them would be hitting the road early the next morning for one final who-rah before classes started and Sakura is forced back into her reality of studying until her eyeballs burned from lack of sleep. "I can't believe I let you talk me into a trip! To Vegas, no less." Sakura whined, she was not all that turned off about the idea, Sakura wanted a change of scenery but she would not give Ino the satisfaction. "Admit it, forehead, you secretly want to go and thanks to moi, you're finally going to shred that bookworm look." Sakura glared at her, "At least for two weeks." The blonde-haired woman shrugged her shoulders. "I'm seriously going to regret this; I can feel it." Sakura rubbed her temples. Manicured nails gripped her loose hand, "live a little Sakura, for me." Sakura glanced at Ino, her blue-eyes filled with warmth and concern. Sakura is brilliant, but she has this undying habit of placing other's before herself and while Ino has tried to break that habit, Sakura is too kind of a person, even after everything that happened to her.
Sakura sighed, "Fine pig you win."
"Uh duh. As if you could resist my womanly charm." The sappy moment broken by that comment.
"Leave. Sakura. Go!" Her adoptive mother Tsunade was practically pushing the young women out the door, "but wait. Tsunade, stop that." Sakura swatted away her hands, "why are you trying to get of rid of me?" Sakura huffed, with her hands on her hips. The honey-eyed women rolled her eyes, "you're stalling girl." Sakura's eyes casted down, "what if he has a nightmare? I won't be here for him." Tsunade heard her loud and clear, she wrapped Sakura into an embrace, "you'll only be gone two weeks Sakura, and it's not forever. You need time for yourself, that's no shame in that." Tsunade released her, and she silently wiped away her tears.
"Okay."
Tsunade gave her a warm smile, "now go before that girl breaks down our front door with her Jeep." Sakura chuckled, Ino had been honking for about 20 minutes, and she was surprised the girl did not come for blood yet. "You'll tell him."
"Aa."
"About time, girl! I thought I was going to have to drag you out." Ino fixed her purple sunglasses as she took off on the road. "We have two hours to get to the Airport."
"Yep." Sakura said as she settled in her seat.
Arriving to the Airport was chaotic, people running late, children complaining and the workers annoyed with their profession. When it was time to board, she took the window seat because something about seeing the ground made Ino very nervous. The flight was long, and soon both girls dozed off but Sakura was jolted awake by mild turbulence, while her friend slept like the dead.
"Excuse me, Miss?" Sakura waved down a flight attendant, "is it safe to walk to the restroom?"
"Of course, it's further back. You can't miss it."
Sakura thanked the women, when she made it to the restroom; she washed the sleep from her eyes with cool water. "Jet-lag is going to kick our asses, pig." She said to herself. As she looked at herself in the small mirror, she was not impressed by what she saw looking back. Pale skin, large eyes, and a wide forehead covered with pink bangs; if you looked closely, she has freckles placed over her nose but she often covered them up with foundation.
"Hey! Hurry up in there!" The banging on the door woke her from her criticizing thoughts. His voice did not sound very friendly either.
"Wait, a damn minute." She argued back, she slid the door open what she thought would be an elderly man was in fact a young man about her age, maybe, 'if you are lucky, Sakura. Wait, what?' She studied his features silently.
He crossed her arms and tilted his head, "are you just going to stand there?" The stranger was not impressed with her comment.
'Oh he's rude.'
"Who pissed in your cheerios, buddy?" Sakura did not back down. He continued to glare at her, "no one. But speaking of 'pissing', I have too." She faltered slightly.
'Right, she was blocking the restroom.' She face-palmed, she felt her face heat up in embarrassment. He was not the only angry person, she had quite a line.
"Shit, sorry." Sakura moved out of the way, she fast walked back to seat to hide her face from the strangers that probably called her every name in the book for taking her sweet time. That stranger though, wow! If he were not a complete ass, he would be a dream. He was tall, dark hair that swung in front of eyes, almond shaped practically black but beautiful. Of course, all the devilishly handsome boys would be jerks, no matter where she was on the planet.
"I thought I was going to have to send a search party for you." Ino whispered. Sakura smiled sheepishly but did not responded.
The hotel was beautiful, Sakura had never left the country but according to Ino, it was something that she needed to experience. Lights lit up the sky, people are everywhere you turn with alcoholic drinks in their hands, shopping bags and their phones recording every moment. Street performers are on every corner, Sakura was trying to take it all in.
"What do you think?" Ino giggled, Sakura could not contain her excitement. "What are we going to do first?"
After unpacking their suitcases, both girls showered and got ready to hit the strip and since they are not old enough to drink yet, Ino brought reinforcements from the Bar downstairs, she has a way with men and it worked in their favor a majority of the time. The liquor warmed her belly, the goal was to get a little under the influence, and Sakura was a lightweight to begin with.
"Alright, forehead! Let's blow this popsicle stand!" Her best friend was currently dancing by herself in one spot.
"I think you over did it, pig." Sakura laughed, "Let's go."
The girls made it to the elevator; Sakura hit the first floor button and right before the sliding door closed a foot prevent the elevator door from closing completely. Sakura frowned; she hated sharing elevators with strangers.
The door slide back, "well, what do you know?" She knew that voice from anywhere.
"I knew I was going to regret this." Sakura pouted as stared face to face with the asshole from the plane.
"Eh, forehead? What's going on?" Ino was lost; she looked back and forth at the hottie and her best friend.
"Shut it." Sakura whispered harshly. "Forehead, huh?" The stranger chuckled; oh, that sound was music to her ears. She glared at the dark-haired boy. "Oh no, mister. Only I can call Sakura, forehead!" Ino argued back.
"Pig, shut up!" Sakura fists clutched tight.
"Sasuke, what's going on?" Another male was brought to her attention, he was older and if she had to guess, it was his father. The older man eyed both girls with disgusted, "now is not the time to be flirting son."
Sakura turned bright red, before she retort a comment about how that was not the case with this Sasuke, he answered for her.
"As if, father. She's not worth the time." Sasuke barley spared her a glance.
'Not worth the time, WOW! Just one kick to the balls! Just one Sakura. He deserves it.'
"WHA- YOU ASSHOLE." Ino was seething with anger. Sakura on the other hand remained calm and cool, like a fucking cucumber.
She cleared her throat, she smiled a sweet smile, it was like pulling teeth to retain herself from lashing out, "if you'll excuse us gentleman. Since we are 'not worth the time' as you stated, we will be leaving now." Sakura waited patiently, "Are you just going to stand there?" She asked him, confused he did not understand, "your foot." Sakura raised a pink eyebrow.
He jumped back, moving his foot that was preventing the door from shutting.
"Good-bye." Sasuke frowned as the door slide shut on that girl's face.
"Tsk, damn women. This is why you'll be given an arrange marriage of my choice." Sasuke listened to his father babbled on about how women these days were not submissive enough; they had too many opinions, and did not know when to be silent. Sasuke did not mind a little lip, it keep things interesting for him. He had not meant what he said, but he knew the insult would have been more devastating coming from the Uchiha Patriarch than himself. He expected the women to lash back at him, like on the airplane, when she did not, that made her more intriguing. He could tell from a forced smile that she was holding insult after insult, but she did not act on it while her friend took the bait. The young women are completely opposite from each other, the friend, Ino, was the classic blonde bombshell in a short blue dress that matched her eyes with silver pumps, her blonde hair was pulled into a high ponytail. Painted red lips with dark make-up that did not suit her face well; at least that is what he thought. Sakura, though, she was all the colors in one. Soft pink hair curled at the ends was cascading over her shoulders, he was sure it reach her lower back. Green, bright green eyes fanned with dark eyelashes that stood out against pale skin, her cheeks held a natural blush, or maybe it was because he riled her up. A deep burgundy colored dress hugged her body. He noticed clear skin, but he figured she had used a tiny bit of make-up; her eyelids were dusted with a mixture of golden browns, full lips coated in gloss. She was almost too good to be true, almost; her eyes did not shine like he wanted them too, for someone who knew loneness all too well, he knew, she was suffering also. Geez, he was turning into a romantic like his older brother, Itachi.
"Are you listening son?" His father was seated across from him at the Restaurant.
"Aa" He had not heard a word since that elevator door slid closed; he loathed Itachi at this moment, and how he managed to convince his father that he would be better off in Medical School instead of in Business Sasuke would never know, but he wanted to find out. Itachi is next in line for Uchiha Corporations, but rejected it. How he managed that and survived was a miracle, his father has been coaching the older Uchiha his whole life, his brother was full of surprises it seemed. Sasuke knew his place, if Itachi took over he would be named, Vice President, and he is fine with that. Things have changed, Itachi has stepped down, Sasuke is next in line to take over, and his father was crunching for time. Time that he molded into his other son was now wasted, to him Sasuke would not measure up to his expectations but he had no choice because if he did not allow Sasuke the position another family member would be placed at the Head of the Table. This trip was do or die.
"No cellphones, forehead." Ino snatched my phone out of my hand, "I was only checking to see if he'd call." I whined, "Nope. You're off the clock, which means the only responsibility you have is to yourself." Sakura huffed, "You're so bossy."
The night was filled with dancing, food and shopping bags. Ino was in hog heaven when she found the Mall; Sakura also spoiled herself quite a bit with Ino's constant motivation that enough was never enough. She vaguely felt sorry for the blonde-haired woman's future Husband's bank account, she was extremely materialistic but she was a great friend and person.
"My feet are dying." Ino whined, "I'm wearing tennis shoes tomorrow." Sakura laughed at her best friend, Ino was currently lying face down on their king sized bed. Sakura heels came off with a thud as they hit the ground, "you just had to hit every name brand store that looked your way."
Ino flipped over, "you never know when you're going to need a Gucci dress, forehead." Sakura rolled her eyes, "please, you are just a shopaholic."
"It's better than being an actual alcoholic." She is such a smart ass. "I'm going to bed." She hopped off the bed, and walked toward the bathroom. "Call him, forehead. I know you're dying too." Ino spoke as she shut the door behind her.
The Uchiha was looking for privacy; he had had enough of the Board Meeting and his father's constant nagging. The Hotel Pool sounded like the perfect opportunity for peace and quiet, it was late and he was sure that everyone would be out by now. He needed a place to clear his head; he was seriously going to be the next CEO of his families' company, the pressure was unimaginable if he fucked this up his father would disown him. He loosened his tie as he walked through the Pool doors; he heard the soft voice of a woman, 'so much for privacy.' He felt his annoyance rise, off to the right was a women sitting with her feet dipped in the water, her petite sandals were off to the side. Her back was facing him, and he recognized the pink hair that was in a messy bun at the crown of her head.
"I'll be back soon, okay. I'm sorry I left without saying good-bye but Tsunade thought it would make it easier on you, but I really think she meant me." She signed, softly. "Anyway, I love you and be good."
Sakura kicked her legs lightly in the warm water; the Pool was lite up with mutli-colored lights and she felt relaxed now that she was able to call him, even if he didn't answer at least he knew she'd be back.
"Is he a boyfriend or a kid?" His voice was smooth, Sakura nearly jumped out of her skin. "KAMI!" she yelled, she turned around and saw Sasuke standing there looking very business-y like but he also looked exhausted. She frowned, "None of your business." She said with her nose in the air, Sasuke smirked and placed his hands in his pockets.
"If he is your boyfriend, he's a fool." He said, but he was not looking straight at her. "Why is that?" She crossed her arms over her chest and faced forward.
"Because he let you out of his sight, I'd never make that foolish mistake." Sakura was glad he could not see her face, she was sure it was a thousand shades of red.
She cleared her throat, "oh please, does that work on all the girls?" 'Not falling for it. He is a king sized douchebag.'
"Or is it a child?" He lifted a fine eyebrow even if she could not see him; she could hear the question in his voice. "You're awfully young to be a mother. You must have started early." He knew he was playing with fire when she bolted straight, when she faced him her eyes were filled with anger but it was beautiful sight.
"Listen here, you asshole. You have no right to speak to me that way." She poked him in the chest, hard. "Why don't you go back to your own little world, I'm not worth the time! Remember!" She threw his words back in his face.
"I don't know wh-"
"I apologize." Sasuke spoke with sincerity. That threw Sakura off her game, 'he's apologizing.' "It is not my interest to fight, I only wanted privacy because I've had a terrible night."
'So he can speak like a normal person.'
She eyed him suspiciously, "What happened?" even if he was an ass, she wanted to help as much as she could.
"You first."
She remained silent, 'it's not like you'll ever see him again, Sakura.'
Sakura caved, "He's my little brother. You're turn."
Sasuke thought it over; he decided he liked that better than the possibility of a 'boyfriend.' "My father is torturing me with endless meetings for our company."
"That explains the suit, and the look of exhaustion in your eyes." She walked back to the side of the pool for her sandals, "it's all yours." She motioned toward the Pool. Sakura walked toward the exit when Sasuke asked her, "What are you doing here?" She was not sure if she wanted to answer that, "it's not like you'll ever see me again. The world is a big place."
'True'
She shrugged her shoulders, "what the hell. I'm here to escape my responsibilities."
"You." She waited patiently to see if he would respond.
"I'm here because of my responsibilities." He sounded sad; it pulled at Sakura's heart.
'I can't believe I'm doing this.' She dropped her sandals and pulled down her shorts. She did have a bathing suit underneath; she kept her large shirt on for her own comfort.
Sasuke looked at her as if she was crazy, "uh not that you're not attractive but this isn't necessary."
'He's actually uncomfortable. How cute!'
"Pervert." He felt his cheeks warm up.
"You're the one getting naked."
"For a swim." She pointed at the Pool. "Get your mind out of the gutter." She pulled the hair tie from her hair, and shook her hair out. Sasuke would not admit it but he liked where this was going, "you're being a pervert again, aren't you." She teased.
"You wish." She rolled her eyes. "Are you coming or are you a chicken?"
"Seriously? No. I don't have swim trunks under these clothes." He motioned at himself.
"Um, so chicken." She accused, "here I thought you'd more daring." Her eyes beamed with mischief. "I'm not a chicken, you're just crazy."
"Not crazy, it's swimming, chicken butt."
Sasuke's eyebrow twitched, he had a memory of Naruto making fun of his hair when he was a child, because it looked like a chicken's ass. "What are you? Five."
She shrugged, "Tsk, so serious. When's the last time you said fuck it, Sasuke?" She challenged him. That is the first time she used his name.
Sakura was pretty sure this was a bad idea when he started unbuttoning that white collared shirt, soon she was blessed with a pale chest that was muscular in all the right places. 'Sweet Kami, what have I done?'
"Now, who's the pervert?" Sasuke teased, Sakura glared back at him. "Oh, whatever."
Soon all that was left was black boxers, "change your mind?" He asked, now it seemed like she needed the push, "Don't tell me that was all talk." He smirked.
Sakura walked along to the edge of the Pool, he followed closely behind. She turned to face him; he could see the hesitation in her eyes. He knew it. "I knew you'd chic-"
Sasuke was swallowing water, when he came up for air Sakura was in fits of laughter, holding her stomach. "You should be on your guard more, Sasuke." She wiped a fake tear from the corner of her eye.
"YOU LITTLE-"
"Ah, watch your language." She interrupted him. "It's your own fault, for the attitude on the airplane and the dick comment you made on the elevator."
Sasuke was glad the water was warm, and that he was in the shallow end. He walked calmly to the steps on the side of the Pool as the evil women continued on her rant about how he should be more polite to the opposite sex. He was dripping wet when faked reaching for his clothes, Sakura thought she had won this round. He was on her like a lion on prey; he scooped her bridal style as she flung around like a fish out of water.
"What were you saying about being on your guard?" He teased her, she was livid. "Put me down you perv." She seethed as she pushed at his chest.
"Um, no."
Sasuke went to throw her into the Pool but she clung to him like a spider monkey and he fell in with her. Both of them shot up from the water, "why you-" Sakura started to scold him when he interrupted, "Truce?" She was lighter than he expected but her grip was strong, the white shirt clung to her front, he could make out the sign of a red top underneath.
Sakura did not see the point of fighting anymore; it just got her thrown in the Pool by a very good-looking man.
"Ok."
It got awkward after that, no one spoke. Sakura tried to look anywhere that was not his chest, but her eyes kept getting her into trouble. 'Kami, this embarrassing. Think Sakura!'
"20 questions?" She offered.
"Aa." She released a breath. "Great. I'll start."
"How old are you?"
"19." He was a year older than she was, "your turn."
"Why forehead?" Sakura flinched; she was going to roast that pig when she got back to the room. She sighed, "Because I have a large forehead, duh." Her remark was full of attitude. She poked to her forehead like Sasuke could not see for himself. He inspected her forehead, it was slightly large but it was nothing to fret over. "Hmm." He said thoughtfully.
"What?" Sakura was full of sass. He chuckled lightly, "nothing, it's your turn." She would let it go for now.
"Did you always want to be in Business?" She was genuinely curious; he did not seem too thrilled about, so why pursue it.
His expression changed, "you have to be honest, Sasuke." She whispered, for that voice he would do whatever she asked, he realized this was a very compromising position.
"Yes." Sakura was ready to resort, "let me finish, women." Her mouth snapped shut. "Yes, I've been interested in Business but with the pressure to be great because of who my father is and who my brother is, it can be a bit too much. You know?" He spoke with honesty.
Sakura blushed lightly, Sasuke was a handsome man but he was much more than a good-looking face. He had dreams but because of how his dream was given to him, he has to rearrange his whole life to make others happy.
"Like you're all alone, no one hears you because it's not what they want to hear but you can't help but speak anyway. Soon, you get tired of being ignored, and just go with it because that's all you can do."
Sasuke was staring at her, like staring at her with no shame. Geez, Sakura you are such a weirdo. He probably thinks you're crazy again.'
He was getting close, very close. He was inches from her face; he spoke softly trying not to scare her away. "Can I kiss you?"
'Kami, YES YES YES! Get a hold of yourself!'
"Okay." He closed the distance between them. His lips pressed against hers in the sweetest way, and then it ended. When he opened his eyes, her face was a lovely shade of pink and her green eyes are now dark, clouded with emotion. He did not give her chance to fully recover before he placed another kiss on her pouty lips, she gasped. He took advantage of her surprise and ran his tongue over her bottom lip; he was pleased when she did not push him away. The kiss was getting more heated as he cupped the back of her neck, angling her mouth so he could fully devour her. Her soft whimpers egged him on, and soon her hands were pulling at his hair. He felt her legs wrap around his middle, the water made her practically weightless; he wrapped an arm around her waist drawing her in closer.
Somewhere deep in her mind, deep in there was telling her this is going too far. 'Reverse. Back up.'
"Forehead! Are you out here?" Ino stopped short in her tracks, she could see a head floating in the water, followed by splashing.
Her blood ran cold. INO! Sasuke froze too. They released each and Sakura pushed on his shoulders, drowning him in the water but he took the hint as he held his breath.
"Yes. I'm here." She answered nervously, "Shit, Sakura, I thought someone took you!" Ino was worried.
"Nope. I'm fine." Sasuke was currently tickling her ribs; she cleared her throat trying not to laugh. She put her hand in the water and pulled Sasuke's ear. "I'll be out in sec." She said through clenched teeth.
Ino was not stupid, but she would let Sakura get a pass just this one time. "Alright. I'm going back." Sakura was relieved, if Ino knew what just happened, she would really have to move away and for good. She tapped Sasuke on the shoulder, as a signal that the coast was clear.
"OW!" Sasuke yelled as he came back up. "That's what you get for tickling." She told him as he nursed his bruised ear.
Realizing that they just have been somewhat caught making-out like sex-crazed teenagers the silence turned awkward again. "I should get going." Sakura motioned toward the steps, "before she comes back with the police."
Sakura stepped out of the Pool, she grabbed a guest towel and wrapped it around herself, and she picked up her shorts and sandals. "It was nice meeting you, Sasuke."
"You too, Sakura." He did not dare step out of the Pool until Sakura was gone for good; she smiled a sweet smile back at him, one that did in fact reach those beautiful eyes.
Then she was gone.
AND Scene!
What'd everyone think? A little out of character but Sasuke does have to speak at least in my story.
