Friday the 13th: Slash To The Past

March 11, 2020

A silver car drives up the path surrounded by trees, with the large lake on the side that can be seen out the left window of the car. The car finally pulled up to a single 2 story home, the home was old and the wood was chipped and the paint had been worn out over the years.

The driver side car door opened and out stepped John Roberts, a black haired man in his mid-20's, he grabbed his bag out of the car and shut the door. The passenger door opened and out came another man ,Mark Holt, around the same age as John, but had blonde hair and wore a hat that covered it.

The side door of the house swung open and a Bernese Mountain dog came darting out to welcome both of them.

"Settle down Ralph!" The blonde woman said as she stood on the front porch of the home, she was in her 40's but John could still see the 17 year old girl that he's seen and red so much about in pictures and articles.

"Ms. Shepard!" John waved as he walked towards the house, Ralph tagged behind him as Mark walked behind both of them.

"You must be the one who called," shook John's hand as he stood on the steps of the house, "John Roberts and Mark Holt!"

"It's good to finally meet you Ms. Shepard," John said as the hand shake came to an end, "thank you for letting us come on such short notice."

"Oh it's no trouble, don't get many visitors up here anymore..and call me Tina," she welcomed both of them into her house.

"It's nice to meet you Tina" Mark said with a smile as he walked in behind John as she held the swinging door open.

A few moments later, Tina walks into the living room from the kitchen and sets two glasses of water on the table for them as John and Mark sit on the couches. Mark's eyes stared up at the pictures and old antiques lining the shelves and walls.

"This place is very old," Tina laughed as she sat down, "so where do you want to start?"

"Oh..right," John grabbed a thick folder filled with many papers and pictures and set it on the table, "I think you know what this is about."

"I knew someone would come looking for me one day.." Tina sighed but her smile returned as she looked back up, "nobody messes with Crystal Lake 'folklore' anymore."

"You say it like it is folklore..a legend.." Mark said nervously as he sipped his water.

"Of course it's not folklore, I witnessed it all!" she sat up in her chair, "people have been leaving this town one by one for the past 50 years!" She grabbed the folder gently and opened it to reveal pictures and articles referring to her, "are you two writing a book? Not even a fan of the Crystal Lake murders would actually set foot on this territory."

"Uhm..so have you heard of a place across the lake..Pinehurst," John asked.

"Of course the copycat murders!" Tina said, Mark and John's faces lit up,"you don't think I know about Tommy Jarvis? I do my own research myself y'know!"

"Tommy Jarvis was signed into Pinehurst in 1989, my aunt Pam Roberts was assistant to the head doctor there looking after him," John explained.

"They thought Tom was crazy.." Tina said, "there was a certain point where it all seemed more than just a scared little boy hiding in the body of a masked murdering psychopath."

"So..you know who we're talking about?" Mark asked.

"Why are you two so afraid to utter the name Jason Voorhees?" Tina asked intrigued.

"You weren't the first survivor of Jason Voorhees we went to see.." John explained as he sat back in his chair.

"Tom.." Tina smiled, "you found him didn't you?"

"Yeah..two states over with a whole new name.." John said.

"Tommy Jarvis may as well have died that night he chained Jason underwater..he left Crystal Lake hoping it would cover up the fact that he couldn't save everyone..he knew after he brought Jason back he would never really be dead after that."

"What do you mean bring him back?" Mark asked, "you've talked to Tommy Jarvis before?"

"I tracked him down a few years ago, well he didn't welcome me with open arms though.." Tina laughed.

"Did he point a gun at you through the window and told you to get off of his property?" Mark and John both asked, having had the same kind of encounter with Jarvis.

"No..It was actually that rifle that's hanging on the fireplace over there and he recognised me and let me inside to talk," Tina pointed, "he gave it to me after he told me about the mistakes he made back in the 1990."

"Why is it hanging up?" Mark asked, which irritated John as he wanted to get to important questions.

"He gave it to me to protect me..I don't need protection from Jason Voorhees," Tina said, "but Tom told me before his last encounter with him..Jason Voorhees was just a man in a mask."

"What is that supposed to mean?" Mark asked, "what are you saying?"

"I'm saying Tom Jarvis dug up Jason Voorhees after killing him as a little boy and Jason was revived by Satan himself..he is supernatural" Tina explained.

"So..when you encountered Jason Voorhees.."Mark began saying.

"When I fought Jason Voorhees he was a rotting..creature that I accidently unleashed from the lake after Tom put him there.." she explained further.

"And how did you stop him? The explosions? The hospital records?" Mark asked as he leaned forwards in his chair.

"You see the patch of land past the mailbox over there?" she asked, John and Mark nodded as they stared out the window, "that was where my house stood until I blew it up with Jason Voorhees inside..I bought this house a few years later after Jason killed all those kids in it."

"The explosion didn't kill him.." John muttered.

"Jason Voorhees wasn't the only supernatural being in Crystal Lake that night.." Tina rose her hand and the folder of research began rising.

"Oh my..g-g-" John stood up and almost fell backwards over the couch, Mark sat frozen as she set the folder back down on the coffee table with her mind.

"The Holt name goes back quite a lot too.." Tina said, "Paul Holt disappeared back before Jason wore that lousy hockey mask of his." Mark nodded as he rubbed his eyes, not believing any of this could be true for a moment.

"What are you looking for?" Tina asked as she stood up staring at John who was still accepting the fact that the supernatural exists.

"We want to find Jason Voorhees and kill him for good.." John finally spoke.

"Impossible..rumor has it the military caught him around here..they never disclosed what they did with him but I can sense he is still alive somewhere."

"Jason Voorhees has killed hundreds of innocent people.." Mark said, "my great uncle Paul disappeared fighting him back in the 70's!"

"I've learned how to control these powers of mine for many years..but I believe they're not done helping me yet.." Tina said as she sat back down.

"W-what do you mean?"John walked over and leaned against the wall in front of them.

"I've been having visions..but they're more real than they used to be.." Tina explained, "like I stood behind Jason in the pouring rain and opened my eyes and I was standing here in my living room soaking wet.."

"How is that possible?" Mark asked, "so what you're saying is you were actually there?"

"What I'm saying is that I can travel to figments of time for moments at a time.." she explained in more detail.

"For a few minutes?" John asked as he glanced nervously at her still trying to get over it all.

"Sometimes when I'm out in town shopping for groceries and it happens..I open my eyes and the store is closing a few hours later and I'm still holding my bag of groceries in my hand.."

"That means there's some sort of source to it..y'know.." Mark said getting overwhelmed by the ideas in his head, "like the further you get to the source of these moments you go back the longer you stay there..and are able to control it."

"What could be the source?" Tina asked.

"Where it all started.." John muttered, they both looked at him, "how far is the old Camp Crystal Lake grounds from here?"
