1984:

"Mom, Dad, Christopher and I, well I'm pregnant," Lorelei said before running out of the house, Christopher right behind her. She wanted to let them cool down before dealing with the fallout. The two left in Christopher's car and drove off, far from Hartford. "So…," she said. "How long until we have to go back?"

" At least a few hours, maybe a day."

"Where do we go?" Christopher asked. Lorelai saw a sign that listed the cities and how far away they were.

"Follow the signs to Stars Hollow, 31 miles away, that seems perfect." "Okay."

--

"What do we do now?" Christopher asked.

"We get some coffee and go from there."

The two went to Weston's, overlooking Luke's due to the misleading 'William's Hardware's sign.

"Should we try to stay the night here or do you think it's safe to go to Richard and Emily's?"

"Safe, probably. Do I want to go back there, no."

Christopher went up to the counter and asked the woman for the nearest hotel. "The Independence Inn is just down Cherry Street, it's an eight minute walk or a three minute drive."

"Thank you."

--

After entering the room Lorelai's phone rang, she declined it.

"I'll wait until the third time she calls, then I'll answer," Lorelai muttered.

Christopher was looking at the brochures displayed on the desk across the room.

"Lorelai Victoria Gilmore, you do not just run out after that type of announcement!" Christopher could hear from across the room.

"I know Mom," Lorelai said, sitting on the edge of bed, " I wanted you to be able to process this before" "You didn't want to deal with the ramifications of your actions, so you ran away from them. Quite literally, might I add," Emily interrupted.

"Streube, Francine, your Father, and I are coming up with a plan for this situation tomorrow morning. Come by at 11:30." "Okay, Mom. We'll be there."

"We're going to my parents house tomorrow for negotiations."

"Maybe this won't be too bad Lore." "Sure, we ruined their plans from before our births, but everything will be fine," sarcasm dripping from her words.

--

Christopher rang the doorbell to the Gilmore Manor. The maid answered the door, and received two nervous teenagers.

"What's your solution, Richard," Streube yelled.

"I bring Christopher into my company, he works in the insurance business, and can provide for Lorelai and the child, and the two get married."

"Hello, please sit down, sit down," Emily instructed Christopher and Lorelai.

"Christopher is supposed to go to Princeton."

"Then he can earn his GED while working, and can go into Princeton when the child is older"

"It's not ideal, but under the circumstances, it will work," Streube surrendered.

"Hello," Richard addressed the teens.

" We have a solution. The two of you will get married. Christopher will earn his GED over the rest of the year and over the summer. He will come with me to my company and work in the insurance business. When the child is older, Christopher will go to Princeton." Christopher simply nodded, accepting his fate, knowing it could be worse. Lorelai however, didn't agree with the plan, " I don't want to marry Christopher right now. We can be engaged until we're both at least 18. I want to move at least 30 miles from Hartford, and I want to take care of the child, not a maid." Richard sighed, " You two must stay in Connecticut, and tell us anytime you leave the state. Have a maid take care of your house at least once a week. We'll buy the house of your choosing. And you must have dinners with the four of us once a month and go to one social event of our choosing each month," Richard countered.

"Deal." Everyone shook hands before Streube and Francine were the first to leave.

"You'll need a public proposal, before people suspect she's pregnant," Emily told Christopher. Christopher nodded before taking Lorelai to his car.

"That turned out better than I'd expected," Richard said, pleased.

--

"Where to now?"

"We should probably find somewhere to live. How about we check Stars Hollow, I liked it. Everyone seemed weird enough, but happy."

"Stars Hollow it is."

After arriving in Stars Hollow once again, the two spotted a large house, compared to the others in the town, with a 'for sale' sign and parked on the side of the street near the house.

The woman presenting the home addressed the couple.

" This is the Stowe house. Once used by Harriet Beecher Stowe's niece for her not known about affair with the son of Mark Twain, Langdon Clemons. Would you like to look around?" Christopher nodded. Before walking around. "It's beautiful, Lore."

"Yeah, and bound to be approved of by our parents, and I love the history."

"I thought you would," Christopher laughed.

Christopher asked for the papers to buy the house and faxed them to both of their parents at the Independence Inn, which they got a reservation at for the next week.

--

" Christopher, can you bring me some coffee, and not decaf like you gave me at that bakery," Lorelai asked him.

"How did you...?"

"I know these things,"

" But you're pregnant, you can't have coffee."

Lorelai laughed, " You expect me to go seven months without coffee?" She laughed again.

"I just, I want the baby to be safe."

"I know Chris, but it isn't safe to make me go without coffee for more than 12 hours."

"How can we solve both of these issues?"

" You give me coffee. I do all of the other stuff that you're supposed to do when pregnant."

"I'm not sure that's safe, Lore," but after seeing the look on Lorelai's face, assumed that was the best he was going to get for now, "okay, I'll go get us some coffee. Be back in a few."

"Mmm, good coffee. Not like that decaf stuff Chris tried to pass off as coffee."

"How about we walk around town a little?" Lorelai suggested.

"After I take a shower, I've been in these clothes for almost two days." --

The cool March air made for a nice walk. Seeing the characters the town was home to. Lorelai spotted a twenty-ish year old man yelling at the older man in front of the market. A few minutes later the couple ran into two forty-year-old women.

"Hello, I don't believe we've seen you around here before. You can call me Miss Patty and this is Babette. Aren't you a cute couple? Where are you from?"

"We're from Hartford, and we're buying a house a few blocks from here."

"You look much too young to be buying a house," Babette pointed out.

"Well, we needed to get away from home, and not embarrass our parents, I'm," Lorelai said.

"Oh, I understand," Miss Patty said giving the two a look of support before walking away with Babette. "The people in this town seem nice."

"And crazy."

"I know, that's what makes it perfect."

A few weeks later…

Lorelai and Christopher were on their way to Hartford for the social event their parents requested for the month of April.

"Do we have to go?"

"We did agree to, and anyway then we'll have at least another three weeks until we have to go to another party."

"Fine."

The party was at the Hayden's house, celebrating the approval of Streube onto the Supreme Court.

About an hour into the party, Francine approached Lorelai. "Please follow me." Streube was giving a speech, so few noticed Lorelai's absence. The two went into a bedroom in a nearby hallway. Francine gave Lorelai a piece of paper with a phone number and address on it.

"What's this for?" Lorelai asked Francine.

"A place that will take care of your issue," Francine said with disdain. "You want me to have an abortion." "I think it's better than the alternative Richard and Streube came up with," Francine said before leaving the bedroom. Lorelai had considered this before, but ultimately decided that she was capable of taking care of a child, and didn't want to end her pregnancy.

--

A few months later…

"Everyone says that giving birth is this magical, wonderful event, but I think it's more like doing the splits on a crate of dynamite." Christopher laughed. The nurse came into the room with their child, and handed the perfect baby girl to Lorelai.

"She's perfect."

"Yeah, she is."

"What do we want to name her?" "You know, men name their kids after themselves all the time. We should name her after me."

"That sounds perfect, but won't that get confusing? 'Lorelai, I need to talk to you.' I mean, if we name her Lorelai Gilmore the third."

"Lorelai Gilmore-Hayden the third. We can call her Rory. What do you want her middle name to be?" "Lorelai Leigh Gilmore-Hayden." "Perfect."
