So this is my first story in a long time. I'm really feeling kind of stuck on James Potter and Hermione Granger stories. There are simply not enough of them. So, Hermione is a Ravenclaw in the same year as James. And while I have more ideas for this couple and plan to write more, I'm not sure about Hermione time traveling or Voldemort just yet.

The great hall of Hogwarts was alive with music, food and dancing. There were no longer houses to divide anyone. For tonight the seventh years were celebrating their last night as students and tomorrow they would graduate. The ever-infamous Marauders walked into the great hall looking regal in their dress robes and feeling like kings. Peter and Remus entered first heading straight to get a table and get drinks flowing. After them followed Sirius Black with his long-term girlfriend Marlene McKinnon, heading straight for the dance floor.

Outside Head Boy James Potter stood waiting for Head Girl Hermione Granger so that they could enter together. The last two years had been interesting for them. When he had asked Hermione to teach him about the muggle world and to pretend to be his girlfriend, he had meant for it to be a means to an end in wooing Lily Evans. But the fates had other ideas for him and the more time he spent with Hermione the more he found himself enjoying being with her. Seeking her out in a crowd, walking with her to shared classes, and even studying with her.

A small cough sounded behind him and he turned, confused, knowing that Hermione should have come down the stairs he had been staring at. Before him stood the one and only Lily Evans looking as beautiful as ever in a short purple dress that sparkled in the candlelight. Once upon a time his heart would have fluttered at the attention she was paying him but now it only filled him with dread. "Good evening Evans, waiting for Snape?"

Lily tried to give a small, shy smile, as she walked closer to James. "I was actually hoping to run into you."

"Well here I am. What can I help you with?"

She began to circle him, lightly toughing his shoulders, before stopping in front of him again. "You can stop playing now, you know? I get it. You were trying to get my attention and now you have it! So now you can walk me into this party, and we'll spend the whole night together, just like you've always wanted. And if you're lucky, you might even get lucky."

James crossed his arms and took a step back, with a frown on his face. "Look Lily, we've been over this already. I am with Hermione and I am the happiest I have ever been. What ever I felt for you, romantically, is gone now. I wish we could be friends, but you keep doing this and I won't risk betraying Hermione's trust."

Lily gave a huff and stomped her foot. "You used to look at me like I was the center of your world! I want that back! Why can't I have that back!?"

"Because while you had the chance, you let it slip through your fingers." Both Lily and James looked toward the stairs where the voice came from. Hermione was gracefully walking down the last few steps. She walked up to James and put an arm around his waist while his arm went over her shoulder pulling her in close. She wore a long, halter, red dress with all her back showing. "I on the other hand won't make the same mistake as you. You really enjoyed being the center of attention for so long and I truly believe that that is all you are really after. James has made himself clear. Please let it go."

Lily glared at Hermione before walking away.

Finally, alone James and Hermione turned to each other. "You look beautiful love. I'm sorry about Evans."

Hermione reached up and gave James a small kiss. "It's ok. It's not like we haven't told her multiple times already that we really are together."

James slipped a hand into his pocket, pulling out a box while he sank down to one knee. Hermione quietly gasped as James opened the box. Inside was a gorgeous white gold ring with a sapphire surrounded by small diamonds. "I was actually hoping for us to be together, forever. Will you do me the greatest honor of becoming my wife?"

And that is it for me folks! Hope you enjoyed it. Happy Quarantine!
