Star Wars: The Force of Change
Rey Skywalker had been alone as long as she could remember. All those long years on Jakku had taught her many things. It taught her how to survive, how to rely on herself. It also taught her the cruelness of the people in the Galaxy. She could never forget how cruel people like Unkar Plutt had been to her all those years. She lingered through her mind as she meditated, analyzing her feelings, emotions. She was looking for something. Something ….Faint. She felt warm and cold at the same time, her heart raced as she traveled through the dark tunnel of her subconscious. Rey heard an echo of a voice she recognized.
"Ben, No!" said Luke.
Rey was suddenly in a Small Wooden Hut, it looked just like something she had seen before. She was wearing her traditional Jedi Garb. Rey recognized the small objects lying around the room. There was a bed on the far side in front of her, and next to it was a table, cluttered with some books, small trinkets, and something she knew quite well. Ben Solo's Lightsaber. She froze as a small creak from behind made her realize what was happening. A younger Luke crept into the room, Jedi Robes and all. She moved to the right, out of his way. He extended his left hand, probing into Ben's hand as he concentrated. She watched him for a few minutes. and as she did, his face went from Cautious to Scared, and then frightened. He snapped out of his trance, his face looked as pale as Hoth. With a slow move of his hand, he reached for his saber with his metal hand. Rey knew exactly what was happening, this seemed all too familiar. Rey needed to test something. She reached out with her hand, and felt the wall to her right. She could feel the cold Wood of the Cabin.
"If i could feel the environment…..can i interact with it?" she thought.
Rey watched Luke as he stared at his Saber in trepidation, thinking over what he was about to do. He ignited his Green Saber, the hum and glow of the blade drowning out the silence and darkness of the scene. Rey knew this was where she had to act. She Reached for her saber. She quickly ignited the Yellow blade and swung at Luke before Ben had the chance to act. The Blade went right through him, and she was falling through a dark and seemingly unending darkness. Her yells echoed through the Abyss. She could hear the screams of the millions killed on Kijimi and in the Hosnian System .Her lightsaber was falling as well, it was a few meters away from her. She reached out with the force, feeling it flow through her. The saber flew into her hand. At the moment it did, Rey landed hard onto the ground.
She felt the damp metal of the Second Death Star's Wreckage. Kylo Ren stood on the edge of a jagged piece of the Shell, staring out into nothing, as she knew what he was doing, or at least, she thought she knew. The cool breeze drifted with the waves. It reminded Rey of how simple things like that were so impactful, not many people understood that. She saw as Ben threw his Crossguard Saber into the vast ocean. Rey knew then, that's what she had been looking for, the light, the spark.
"Wait, something's not right…." Rey thought.
She was pulled again, falling through the abyss, just as before. She heard a low cackle, it echoed through the space, it put her on edge. She knew this voice. It was Palpatine's.
"RRWWWGG." Chewbacca Said.
Rey was pulled out of her trance, she was laying in the Falcon, on the small bed that once was used for Rose, after the battle of Crait. That seemed so long ago compared to now. So much time had passed, so much had changed, and still, Rey felt stuck. She had been alone since the Victory in the Battle of Exegol. The Ensuing Consequences of that Battle had been good for the Galaxy. But in that time, Rey had cut herself off from her friends. She needed the time alone. It had been two years, and she had still not felt better. She felt so isolated, so alone. It was a horrible feeling. Poe and Finn, Rose, and the others were most likely worried about her, but she couldn't go back yet. Not until she figured everything out.
"Hey Chewie is everything alright?" said Rey.
"Raaargh." replied Chewie.
"Let Finn know i'll be back in time for the Ceremony. I wouldn't miss it for anything." said Rey.
"Rawrghhh." said Chewie.
"Tell them….I'm trying to get back as soon as possible." replied Rey.
Chewie nodded and walked away towards the cockpit, he would translate the message from Rey back to FInn. Chewie was worried about Rey. he knew his friend was hurting, so much had happened, he knew it must be painful. He had lived a long time, he had traveled with many. He thought he had experienced more in his life than anyone in the galaxy had ever before. Hopefully, what Rey was experiencing would pass in time. What she was doing reminded him of Luke, all the way back when Rey and him had found him on Ach-To.
Rey got up and yawned. She was extremely tired, she could barely get sleep nowadays. Her recurring Nightmares haunted her. It was always a different sequence of old memories, always involving Ben, and ending with Palpatine. Ben's Fall and Rise, and subsequent Death had lingered in her mind for ages. Just as the moment it seemed she finally had everything, she lost him. Her mind then drifted towards other stressors.
Rey's journey had seemed at an end. The future was uncertain. She didn't know where to go from here. She was under constant stress. How could the Jedi order be rebuilt if all she had was a bunch of old, crusty Books? She couldn't rebuild the Jedi with just that. The problem was, almost all of the traces of the Jedi in the Galaxy seemed lost.
Rey's emotions were in flux all the time, she could never seem to be in control of herself. All her thoughts were jumbled, chaotic, never seeming to come together cohesively.
She couldn't focus on that now. Rey stood up from the bed and went towards the Navigational Chart and sat on a chair in front of it. Several Planet Names were listed on the screen. Dathomir, Tython, Coruscant, Ossus, were the Places Rey knew had keys to the Jedi Order's History, this was how she could build anew.
Rey went to the cockpit of the Falcon, and saw as Chewie sat in the Co-Pilot Seat, finishing Transmitting the Message to Finn. it was hard to get a message out, as far as they were. They had been traveling through the outskirts of the Outer rim, searching for more relics of the Jedi past. Rey knew she had to continue until she could do what Luke and Leia had trained her for. It was her destiny, and she wouldn't fail them. No matter what. If she did, then everything they had worked towards would be for nothing. Her path was clear.
"How's everyone?" said Rey.
"Rrargh." replied Chewie.
"Yeah, it must be stressful." replied Rey.
Rey sat in the pilot's seat of the Falcon, and made sure the freighter's systems were up and running before taking off. Her and Chewie's next destination was Ossus. A lush, temperate world with many varying landscapes. Their Primary destination was the Old Jedi Temple, named Osh-il masa. It was at the top of one of the tallest mountains in the Entire Planet. It had been constructed over many years by the Jedi after leaving Tython, their ancient homeworld. The Jedi spent years together, they all cooperated in the Rough conditions of the planet to build the enormous stone temple. Rey could not imagine how it would have been to be in the order during its glory days. The thought of restoring that gave her all the motivation needed.
Rey and Chewie jumped into Hyperspace, their Journey was just beginning.
