There was nothing comforting about the light shining down on the land to Blank, normally it would have, light in the wide open country side during spring was normally the farthest thing away from the horror he used to run away from, but now after all that he known it was nothing but something else you could add to the list. He was reminded of this feeling, it was the feeling of complete shock, so deep that none of these feelings could be understood yet, and slowly one by one they would be shown to him relentlessly over the coming years, if he made it at all.

Away from the village, from Hell, it really shown the beautiful Arizona country side. But it was also dry and in many parts dead, the light around wasn't quite strong enough to be hot but enough to remind Blake he was alive so was she. The baby, she seemed remarkably healthy and even pure, she was the only thing that kept him from falling to the ground from sorrow and burden. To most people carrying around a new born baby walking through the desert as the sun rises would be nothing but a burden, but she small now quite body brought peace to he's heart, he was the only thing that kept her safe from the dangers of the world, her only safety net. Never again would he let anything hurt a another woman in he's life, he wasn't helpless, he wasn't weak, he could protect, he could...

He needed to think, he couldn't explain this to anyone, that village wasn't real, at least not fully. Something was completely unnatural about there, if it wasn't for this child he wouldn't believe it had happened, but she, her mother... was dead, he had failed her utterly. There where no comforting words in her dying breath, none to tell him he did something right, because he hadn't, and she wouldn't have lied. If Blake had a good stable mind he would have grabbed he's ring off he's finger and thrown it into the dirt where it belonged, he was no husband, no protector. And now he had no choice but to try and prove he could do and be something he wasn't all over again, and by whatever God there was out there, he was going to prove it, there was nothing he wouldn't do to stop this torture from happening again to a another woman, a girl.

Now it was time to plan, he couldn't go back to he's old life, he's old life had died with Lynn. No he would have to move to a different state all together, get a new life. The old was too damaged and rotten to come back to. The family he had left couldn't understand this, and he understood this. If he went back, everyone would think he was crazy, even if he could prove everything that happened he would never get to keep tho s baby girl, she needed him, and he needed her. They belonged together, even if they weren't family she was he's new daughter now, Lynn... always wanted one kid, surely it was a girl right?

Every few seconds Blake was sure she wasn't really there with him, that he had been lied o and he really was alone for good, the baby slept too peacefully. But then right when he was about to give up hope she would yawn or groan in her sleep in he's arms. She seemed her most human when he was doubting it. How was he ever going to keep this one safe if he couldn't be sure she was real? Was she really the unity Christ? For whatever bull shit he had told him about her. No, she wasn't. She was pure, she had no part in killing Lynn, none at all, she was good, she wouldn't be tainted. She was he's daughter now, her mother had died for her, she seemed to have been worried for the baby's safety too? To Hell with the fact that she was conceived and born in one day. To Hell the fact that she seemingly wasn't he's own. To Hell with her origins and most importantly to Hell with everyone who wanted her dead. She was going to be a normal girl, a normal healthy woman free of trouble. She was going to be happy, with just a father and a small house if he could afford it. And then just like that, here was he's new plan, get out of this place, as far away as he could be away from Arizona and his home town, and make a new life with her. He tried with Lynn and by God it worked for a while, but now it will work for a much longer time, she was beautiful and pure, no one would change that. Not on he's watch.

now the sun had started to get really hot, he had been walking for nearly two hours now, run a lot at the beginning, pain could not register now. Not yet, pain told people when they where at rick but now nothing they could do would help Blake now. Another hour later he started see vary small signs of real human life again. A old run down fench with probably 30 year old wire around it. And soon after that a run down truck with broken tearing paint he passed by too.

They he finally saw a small town with a few houses in the distance, they where probably on the farthest outskirts of a tiny city near by, which both concerned and confronted him. People may try to take him away from he's child, but they wouldn't kill her. At least, he thought they wouldn't.

After all that walking the baby finally woke up, she didn't open her eyes but he could hear her making more noise, never crying just on the brinks of doing so. Then like Blake throught would happen soon she pieed all over the pink blanket she was covered with. Quickly hoping no one would see because he was near the town, he toke her out of the blanket, layed it to the side planning on coming back for it once it had dyed in the sun some, then covered the baby up with he's shirt, having only a thin black one underneath. The baby still made noise but never truly cried, and Blake nearly cried himself seeing how helpless she was, and how helpless he was not being able to clean her better in anyway. But then some noise behind him caught he's attention, the sound of a woman talking. He turned around and saw that in the fare distance there was a woman talking to what seemed to be a small child. Trying to be quite he started to walk closer carefully. When he got two houses away from her he hid behind the side of one of them, watching her but never quite hearing what she was saying. Soon the child who looked some what like her waved goodbye and walked away from what was apparently their house. Still watching the woman walked back inside.

It felt wrong doing this, but there was no way he was going to let he's baby go hungry on he's watch. So trying to be quick and get no one else's attention he walked up to the house they where at and knocked on the front door gingerly. If he had he's way he would have just stole the food if he could have sneaked into the house, that would keep the baby out of harm's way. But he had no other choice then this.

The second the woman opened the door she seemed confused. "What? Uh, who are you si- AH!" She suddenly looked right at he's hands. "Oh my God, what happened?! Is the baby okay?!" He couldn't blame her for the concern. He had blood covering he's short and arms, a baby covered in a brown bloody shirt and he's hands where torn right in the middle. And only the Lord could tell what he's face looked like then, probably the most disturbed a man could be without being flat out mad. Or maybe just hollow. "She's fine. No no she's fine." Blake said, mainly to himself, not looking fully at the woman. "Who are you? What happened?" She asked, clearly flabbergasted. "I... I just need some food for her. That's all I need." He looked back down at the baby. "That's everything we need." The woman nodded, still not taking her eyes off the child. "Stay out here, I'll..." She looked closer at the baby then gasped. "How old is it?!" Wow, she really was a mother herself. "I just need food, I'm not asking for anything else. Just some food." The woman walked backwards into the house and shut the door after herself. For a second Blake thought she had left them to call the police, but right as he was about to get away he heard her footsteps again. Opening the door she had three bottles of baby formal in her hands, no drinking cap though. "That's all I have!" She handed Blake the bottles. Looking around for what to do next. "I'll.. I'll call the police- no, 911." She looked back at Blake directly. "What should I tell them?!" Blake thought for a moment with a hollow look then said. "... get a phone, I'll tell them myself." She nodded and turned around, right as she was leaving Blake said. "Take your time, I need a second to think of what to say." She nodded and walked inside. Right as she was out of sight Blake made a dash for it, running faster then he had since last night, so fast it reminded he's legs of what he had went through again.

Quickly he ducked behind houses and jumped over a fench. He couldn't go completely straight because more people would see him and he's bloody baby, and he couldn't be spotted like that. When he was so far away from the house that he couldn't see it anymore he slowed down the pace some. He's legs still burned but he kept some speed in him. Walking not straight but more to the left, getting father away from the small houses.

He had to keep going until he was at least a state away from here. He couldn't do this in Arizona, he just couldn't. He needed to save this baby and fast, he was too vulnerable here in the open.

He failed as a friend, failed as a husband, but he wasn't ever going to fail as a father. Not over he's dead body and beyond.
