It begins over a city, filled with destruction. A place formerly known as Sunset City, which seems to be lit ablaze, the ground split into multiple different pieces. With the inferno constantly rising, like a flood filling the city, one person seemed to remain in this place. A hedgehog, who soared through the air with a blue light enveloping his body. He seemed to be searching for something, then, with a plume of flames bursting out in front of him, he waved a single hand, swiping the flames away and clearing his path. Though, he soon let out a sigh.

"This place... it never gets any better. Always destruction, ever since the world had split into seven pieces... and these flames began to fill the broken parts, there's never any sign that things will go anywhere from here! I just need to find home base without any troubles..."

At some point, he'd have landed on a rather tall building, in ruins just like the rest of the place. His eyes darted around between multiple different corners of the city, until he had finally noticed a small, dome-shaped building. There it was, home base. He was wondering if he'd find Blaze there, a while back she had said she would appear sometime in order to assist him, but so far, no sign of her. It was only him and one other, a person who had served as a mentor to him who he had met not long after Blaze had disappeared. Though, before he could take to the skies once more, a loud crash could be heard. Landing on the building, practically toppling it over, was a large, bear-like being. His fur was a pure white, an albino bear, and he was 25 feet tall, almost as tall as the building itself. The entire structure began to wobble as he hung onto the side of it, looking down at Silver with a terrifying smirk on his face.

"There you are, silver-furred runt! I was looking all over for you just so I could get to crush you like the ant you are..! An annoying little bean like you deserves nothing but agony!" With a raised fist, he would move fast, trying to strike the psychokinetic hedgehog dead-on.

Silver dodged the attack, though only by a hair. Holding his hand up, he would attempt to use his abilities in order to throw a wave of debris off at the giant bear, but to no avail. His foe attacked once more, going in for another powerful strike, but this time, no running away. With the flames spurring on behind him, he used all he had in order to stop his opponents fist dead in its tracks.

"See! That there is why you're such an annoying pest. You and your powers to stop things from moving, I swear I'm going to pound you into paste, even if it means damaging myself to force through this!"

The bear continued to push and push, it seemed Silver wasn't as good of a match for him as he originally thought, he was being pushed to his limits. Though, when least expected, someone began to speed up the building, leaping off and appearing just above the bear, then doing a flip and firing down a wave of pitch black energy, creating a strong enough shockwave to cause their foe to stumble.
"What the!? Another rat coming to try and take me down?!"

At once, copies of this new ally had emerged, attacking the bear head on, while the real version had sped forward, grabbing Silver and picking him up, he leapt off of the building.

As for who this person was, well, it was a hedgehog. He had green eyes, black fur, and grey strips along his spines, along with dark grey shoes and white gloves.

"Ah! Mr. Mephiles! I didn't expect you to come out here to help me, but I appreciate it. I doubt I could have one that on my own, at least, not without suffering a lot of injuries." Silver spoke.

"Don't mention it! Now, can you fly us back to home, so this big guy doesn't follow us? I'm afraid my clones won't last much longer, especially since they only have half of my power, due to being failed copies created by my energy."

With a nod, Silver had used his psychokinetic powers to pull the two of them through the air and towards the dome-shaped building, where they'd land and Mephiles would push the door opened. He beckoned for his friend to come along, and once the two of them were inside, he sealed the door shut.

Inside, there were computers and flashing lights everywhere, it was a dark and somewhat grimy place, but it was home. Mephiles walked forward, the other hedgehog close behind, "I'm glad you didn't get too badly hurt. This world has come to be quite the mess, hasn't it, my student?"

"You know, you're right about that... flames and destruction all over. And then beyond that, I can barely find any forms of civilization or any people around... how long has it been this way?" Silver had asked.

"Longer than you'd know." That was all Mephiles responded with.

While wandering, Silver soon found something intriguing on the walls. It was... a robot of sorts. He looked all sorts of beat-up, there were damages scattered about his body. The machine was blue, with barely lit-up, red eyes. Something about him felt... familiar. "Hey, Mephiles, who's this guy here?"

"Hm? Oh, him. He's a machine I found on the outskirts one day, I assume he belonged to that Eggman fellow who was axed long ago. You know, the evil doctor who was once a menace to the world? I'm sure you've heard of him. I thought I could fix him up and have him be an ally to our cause."

Silver's more than heard of the doctor, what his mentor didn't know is that he had actually been to the past before and had done combat with Eggman. "Ohh! Huh... maybe that's why he feels so familiar..." He mumbled to himself, "Well then... welcome to the team, new friend. My name's Silver, don't worry, master here'll have you patched up in no time!" With a smile on his face, he waved into the robots eyes.

"I wish the world hadn't come to this... if only you could have lived a happier life, right, Silver? So much destruction, and I don't even know if we'll be able to undo it after what just happened earlier... if only I had those Chaos Emeralds, but to retrieve them one would have to go into the past and... no, that may be too reckless to time travel."

That was an idea, Silver had time traveled before, this wouldn't be any different. "Mr. Mephiles! I've actually been to the past before! If I could find some way to get back there, I have some friends who could help us retrieve the Chaos Emeralds!"

Mephiles froze up, his eyes wide, "You say you've... time traveled before? Most would call you crazy, Silver, but I believe you... you seem so faithful in this idea... so if you've really been to the past and have friends there who could assist us, then, I can send you there. I only brought up time travel because I knew it was possible, as if I put enough of my energy into it, I can open a portal to the past. We can go there together and ask your friends! Silver, you may just have saved us!"

In order to begin, Mephiles would put both of his hands forward, aiming towards an empty spot and beginning to concentrate his inner energy, he was trying to create a portal big enough to send him and Silver to the past. It was working! He was doing it, they would soon be on their way! Until an interruption came. The door was being blown open, and at the front, two people seemed to be breaking in. A cat and a fox, the two of them with ominous looks within their eyes.

"What?! We've been followed... they finally found out where we've been staying, haven't they? Silver, take the robot and get through to the past. I'll close it up behind you and hold them off, alright? Do you hear me?! I'd like to go with you, but well, this is putting a lot of strain on my body, and there's no telling if they'll follow us through or not! But don't worry about me, I'll catch up to you at some point!"

Silver was surprised by, well, everything. But, he knew he had to. He grabbed the robot off the wall, then saying his farewells, and with a nod, he had leapt through the portal. At once, it was sealed.

Mephiles was left alone in this time, having gotten Silver through, and once the cat and fox had made their way in, busting through, he had looked back to the two of them. With his student gone, he seemed to take a bit more of an ominous demeanor, staring them down. He told Silver he'd catch up to him, and well, he'd do just that.

It wouldn't take long for Silver to arrive in the past, or well, the present, he was apart of the future, after all. Appearing on a large mountain with the robot next to him, he took in the fresh air, staring out upon the beautiful, blue sky. It was amazing, he missed being in this time, it was so much... better, compared to his. But he had to focus. Mephiles would be okay, he believed in that, right now though, he'd need to go find someone. Tails! Tails and Sonic! If he meets Tails, then the two-tailed fox can fix up his robotic friend here, and then Sonic can help him get the Chaos Emeralds. He'd be back in the future soon enough, right now, he had some friends to see, so he went shooting off through the sky, flying towards the home of the hedgehog and fox.

Silver could be seen flying over all of the green hills and blue seas, making his way from where he started out over to Tails and Sonic. He just had to find them! They were his only hope of retrieving the Chaos Emeralds, so, he would all it took in order to locate them, to break the skies and find them! Soaring through the world of Mobius, Silver would eventually find it, the home of the fox and hedgehog. He dropped down right outside, knocking with slight confusion. "Hello? Sonic? Tails?!"

The door swung open, Tails was the one responding with a smile on his face, "Oh! Silver, I didn't expect you to be visiting us. What brings you here? Something happening again?"

The hedgehog began to speak, "Tails, I need to find Sonic. I need his help to gather the Chaos Emeralds, please, it's important-"

Silver would soon be interrupted, Tails stepping in, "Wait... is that... why are you holding onto Metal Sonic?! Just... here, come inside, let's talk." The twin-tailed fox lead him inside, directing for him to place the robot down on a table.

"Metal Sonic..? So this is him, huh? I guess I just didn't recognize it at first... I knew it was familiar, but all of the damage sort of messed with my head, that and the fact that I've never actually seen him. My teacher, back in the future, found him. I believe he has no memories of what he once was, but so far, I think he's actually registering what he's seeing. His eyes lit up when I first saw him, and that's when I introduced myself, but he can't move."

"I see... we could actually use this. Metal Sonic fighting on our side? I could fix him up and have him be one of your allies, Silver! But, you say you need the Chaos Emeralds, do you? That's a coincidence then. Sonic just took them in order to protect Angel Island. I bet Knuckles will be fighting right alongside him, since this is to protect his island and his Master Emerald, obviously. We might still be able to get to them if we move fast. Silver, you go on ahead. I'll stay here and work on the repairs to Metal Sonic... hm... maybe we need a different name for him, just maybe."

Silver nodded, clenching a fist and holding it to his chest. "Right! See you later, Tails!" At once, dashing out of the home, he then took off into the skies above, flying straight to Angel Island in order to assist in the battle and speak with Sonic about using the Chaos Emeralds. Little did Silver know, he was walking into a battle which would serve to be the start of his ruined future.
