"Now! My Monster attacks you directly!" a young girl with bright pink hair yelled.
Just as quick as the girl gave her order her Monster struck it's target.
"Aaaaaaaaaagh!" her opponent screamed.
As the boy was struck down the terrain around them faded. The girl walked over to her former opponent and helped him off the ground.
"Ha ha! Looks like I beat you again!" she said.
"Yeah, you made me look like a clown."
"And you don't look like one already?"
"Hey!"
The clown boy struggled to find a good retort as she made fun of him. Sooner than later their teacher showed up.
"Hey good job out there! Zuzu, Yuya~" he congratulated them.
"Thanks, teach! Just doin' my thing." Yuya said, bashfully.
"Oh come on Yuya! I was the one who beat you!" Zuzu said.
"Y'know she's right, Yuya."
"Aaaw, what did I not do anything cool there?"
"Of course you didn't. You were just as lame as always."
Yuya let out a little moan of disappointment. How come even though he tried his best nobody thought it was good enough? But he'll never let that get him down! He'll keep on smiling.
While the three of them were talking someone came opened the door to the duel room and walked down the hallway. She spied on them from around a corner.
"Hm?" Yuya turned around to see the girl looking right at him!
"Ah!" she ran around the corner to 'hide'.
"Hey, there's no need to shy away! C'mon out." He said while walking around the corner.
"Um, I'm sorry. I w-was just wondering where people can apply to join the school…"
"Hmmmm… How 'bout this? You and I Duel. Right here. Right now. And if you win you can join!" Yuya proposed.
"Huh?! Me? Dueling you?"
"Yeah! Why not? You wanna join, right?"
"Uh, well yeah."
"Then Duel me!"
"O-Okay! I'll do it!"
"Awesome! Let's go to the Duel Field!"
(I'm not gonna try to take this seriously anymore. This is gonna be shit and im gonna write it that way.)
Once they got to the Duel Field, they were ready to throw down.
"I activate the Action Field, Sogen!" Yuya's teacher announced.
"Augmented reality combat system energized." A loud mechanical voice said.
Soon enough the world around them changed. It transformed into a large field full of grass. There were a couple hills, but other than that it was pretty bland.
The Duelists readied their Duel Disks and prepared for battle. First, Yuya. He trusted his arm in front of him with a load of confidence. A large board appeared out of his Duel Disk and it automatically shuffled his deck. Then, Patrica. The multiple parts of her more mechanical Duel Disk slid out and formed a board to play her cards. It also shuffled her deck.
"Huh? That's your Duel Disk?" Yuya asked with a look of slight shock on his face.
"Well, yeah. Got a problem with that?"
"That one's pretty old… It can't even use Action Cards."
"…Action Cards..?"
"You don't know what Action Cards are?!"
"Uh, no."
"Then you've got a lot to learn! And I'll be the one to teach you. Now let's Duel!"
"Duel!" the both of them shouted together.
Yuya's turn.
"All right, I draw!"
He dramatically drew a card from his deck and glanced at it before putting it into his hand. He carefully sifted through the cards in his hand and picked one to play.
"Here it comes! Say hello to Hip Hippo!" Yuya said placing his Monster on his Duel Disk.
In the blink of an eye a bright pink hippo appeared. And just as soon as it appeared Yuya jumped onto it's back and started to ride it. Yuya giggled and he rode away.
"Heh! It's your move!"
Patrica's turn.
"Okay… Draw." She said as she carefully yet forcefully drew a card.
"Hmmmm…" she glanced at her card.
She looked at her hand a bit before placing a card.
"I'll set this."
After that she picked another card and played it onto the field.
"And now, I'll Summon Madolche Magileine!"
As she set the card down a beautiful purple witch appeared. Her elegant dress featured lots of ribbons and ruffles and instead of having a traditional witch's broom, she had a fork with fluffy white cream on the end.
"And that's not all, I activate my Monster's effect!" she said trusting her arm to the side, "I can add a Madolche Monster from my deck to my hand."
She did exactly as she said and drew a card. She smiled a bit as she put it into her hand.
"And that's all. I end my turn."
Yuya's turn.
"(Huh… Why didn't she attack? Her monster has way more attack points than mine… Oh well!) I draw!"
He looked at his card.
"(My Stargazer Magician!)" he gasped, "(Well, I don't have any other Pendulum Monsters in my hand so I'll have to wait on that one.)"
After pondering over it for a while, he made his move.
"I'll set a card. And that's all."
Patrica's turn.
"Draw."
She smirked as she saw her card. She put it into her hand and took a different card out.
"I Summon my Monster, Madolche Butlerusk!"
Her Monster was a handsome butler with short brown hair with a large ahoge. The long coat tails on his suit fluttered with the wind.
"And that's not all, my Monster's effect activates!" she said placing her hand on her deck, "I can take a Field Spell from my deck! And I'll grab this one, Madolche Chateau! And of course, I'll play it too. Field Spell activate!"
And then a world of sweets started to take shape right before them. The streets, the buildings, and even the clouds were made entirely out of sweets. The bright pastel colors would blind any emo teenager.
"And because you seem like an idiot, I'll tell you what it does. Madolche Chateau increases the attack and defense of all my monsters by 500 points!"
"(Uh-oh… Things aren't looking too good for me…)" Yuya thought while looking back at his opponent.
"Uh, Yuya in front of you—"
"Huh?" he looked ahead, "Wh-"
He couldn't even let out a scream as he slammed head-first into one of the sugar coated walls of the Madolche kingdom. He fell off his Hippo and onto the floor.
"Ow…" he groaned a little as he sat up.
"Ha ha! Take that Clown Boy!"
After hearing that Yuya jumped to his feet at the speed of light. Though things were looking down he wouldn't give up. Surely there was a way to win…
"All right, get ready for all your hopes to dissolve! I tribute Magileine to Summon a Monster!"
Her witch disappeared to make way for a new monster…
"You'd better bow down to her highness, iiiiiiit's Madolche Puddingcess!"
A small girl walked forward in an elegant, composed fashion. Her long, golden yellow hair swayed as she moved, and her tiara sparkled in the sunlight. She wore a gorgeous cream-colored dress that had multiple red ribbons on it.
"And like all my other Monsters, she has an effect! Because there are no Monsters in my Graveyard, she gains 800 attack and defense! Plus the 500 from my Field Spell and that makes…oh! 2300! And my Butlerusk has 1900! Wow! That's a lotta damage!"
"(Oh no! I gotta do something!) I activate my face down card! Mystical Space Typhoon! It destroys one of your spells or traps. And I pick your Chateau!" Yuya made his move.
"Not so fast! Did you forget about my face down? My Counter Trap activates!" Patrica countered.
"What?!"
"Madolche Tea Break! It lets me stop that spell of yours! And not only that, since I control my Puddingcess I can destroy your Monster! Thanks, Yuya!"
"Ah! No way..! That leaves me totally open!"
"That's right! Now my Monsters, attack him directly!"
Yuya braced himself as the two adorable yet deadly Monsters dashed toward him.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!" he screamed as the Monsters attacked him.
"And that's game! …Sorry wrong catchphrase." Patrica said.
After the Duel the virtual world around them faded. She walked over to her former opponent.
"Hey, you okay Clown Boy?" she asked reaching her hand out to help him up.
"Yeah, I'm fine," he said as Patrica help pull him up, "That was an awesome Duel! You're really good, uh… What's your name?"
"Patrica. Patrica Yokubo. Nice to meet ya, Clown Boy."
"It's Yuya."
"Yeah, sure."
"Wow! You were so cool! I think you might even be as good as Yuya!" Zuzu ran into the Duel Room to praise Patrica.
"And who are you?" she responded.
"I'm Zuzu! Nice to meet you!"
"Okay Dawn."
"Wait wha—"
"I'm gonna go ask teach if you can join!" Yuya interrupted.
"Cool." Patrica said.
"Hey, why don't you come along too Patrica? You need to introduce yourself after all."
"Oh, okay."
The two of them left the room.
"Wait, what about me-?!" Zuzu yelled.
After a few minutes of walking Yuya and Patrica reached the room the teacher was in. Yuya pushed open the door with the force and excitement of a young child ripping open candy wrappers.
"Hey! Teach!" he shouted.
"Oh hello Yuya. What're you doing here?" the teacher asked.
"Uh, well I had a little question to ask…"
"Yuya… That sounds suspicious."
"N-No! It's nothing like super important or anything!" Yuya began, "Well it's just I, uh, I Dueled this girl and promised her that if she won, she could join the school so…"
"You what?!"
"I'm sorry! B-But she's super good! She won! She floored me!"
"Well where is this girl?"
"Right here!" Yuya pointed to Patrica who was still hiding behind the door.
"Uh, that's me, sir." She said as she walked into the room.
"Really? *She's* the one that beat you?" the teacher asked.
"Ehehehe… Yeah it was a little bit embarrassing." Yuya admitted.
"Hm, well what's your name miss?" the teacher keeps asking her stuff.
"It's Patrica. Patrica Yokubo." She responded.
"Hmmmmmm… I guess if you beat Yuya then you must have a lot of potential…" He said looking her up and down, "Sadly you can't join just yet."
"Huh?! Why?" Yuya asked.
"Because she has to take the exam first." He answered.
"That sounds pretty easy. Where can I get one?" Patrica asked.
"Right here!" the teacher replied handing her a piece of paper.
"Oh. Okay thanks." She said.
Yuya and Patrica said their goodbyes and left. They walked until they reached the front of the school.
"I guess I have to take this test now." She said.
"Yeah, but I'm sure you'll ace it!" Yuya responded.
"Mhm. It can't be that hard."
"Well, I'll see ya when you get accepted."
"Yeah. See you then Clown Boy."
After saying that she started walking home.
"And for the last time my name is Yuya!" Yuya shouted.

*One week later…*

"(Huh. I haven't seen Patrica in a while. I guess she failed…)" Yuya thought.
But then, he heard a door open behind him. He turned around and was greeted by a familiar face.
"Patrica!" he shouted.
"Yo!" she greeted him.
He ran up to her and gave her a tight hug.
"Ah—What are you doing?" she asked in shock.
"It's just great to see you again! So, I take it you passed?"
"Yeah. It's nice to meet ya, classmate!"
