And the knights who swept them off their feet
So she expected real life
To be like that.
She was sadly mistaken.
Lands rank with disease
War-torn cities
Children who knew nothing to cherish
But their own lives:
Running, hiding, lying
For the insurmountable crime
Of having magic.
She still held on to those shadow dreams
Of good over evil
She wanted to form a safe haven
So she did.
It was time-consuming and difficult
Politics and fights
Godric, who took foolish risks,
Salazar, who wanted purity,
Rowena, who had secrets to hide
And herself, who just wanted a better world.
That fueled her
From the day she created Hogwarts
Till the day she became its ghostly protector
Helga Hufflepuff only wanted
Peace.
