I'm trying something new; something not Psychic related! New characters, new story, darker tone. This was an original(?) idea I had and it is inspired by some songs from The Weeknd's new album "After Hours," but it is NOT the same as the music videos in ANY way. ENJOY!
I was making a living. How I did, I can't reveal. Not yet...
What I can say though, is that my group knows me, Dray, as the popular one. Group? Yes. We call ourselves Shade, and what we do? Gambling, and I know what you're thinking. It might seem bad when you first hear it, but it isn't. We use a secret strategy to get a win EACH TIME. Sounds impressive, doesn't it? Well, that one day, it seemed like we weren't alive. In more ways than one.
We met behind the casino in LA, where we usually meet up.
DRAY: Anything yet?
One of the people in Shade was my partner, Zaia. She taught us the strategy she calls Magnet Stack.
ZAIA: No. I haven't heard from the rest of Shade yet.
DRAY: Yeah, we're supposed to have a group of 4! It is best to be safe in numbers, after all.
ZAIA: You think we should just head in and see what happens?
DRAY: I think so. Quickly, because it seems suspicious of us being here at THIS time.
ZAIA: Hey, dude. Before we do, I got something to up our game...
Zaia hands me the strongest magnet available commercially, a neodymium magnet.
DRAY: Zaia... how did you get this?
ZAIA: Let's just say I have my ways!
DRAY: This shall suffice.
I kiss her and we both head inside, and I go to my usual spot. When no one is looking, I place the magnet in it's spot in the mechanism. Zaia created a mechanism under the roulette where when I want the ball to land in a certain spot, I can press a button and the magnet swings out and sticks to the ball through it, landing it in the spot I need it to be.
Everything was going well until when the mechanism stopped working, and my winning streak was cut off. After we finish, we meet in the back of the casino again.
DRAY: Zaia, your mechanism broke under the roulette!
ZAIA: How did it do that?!
DRAY: I was doing real good, until the button stopped working.
ZAIA: You think it wore out?
DRAY: I don't know, but we need to find a new place like this!
ZAIA: What? Why?
DRAY: I noticed it started smoking when we left, so if someone sees it, we could get caught!
We can see from the casino there is red and blue flashing lights.
ZAIA: We gotta go!
We rush to find a place to stow away at, when we find an abandoned building. We rush through the door, and we end out running out through the same door we came in.
DRAY: Hey... didn't we just...
ZAIA: Run through this door?
We look around and it is still LA, but everything looks reversed.
ZAIA: NO WAY!
DRAY: What?
ZAIA: I've heard of this place before!
DRAY: It's like LA, but reversed...
ZAIA: There is a myth that has been passed around where every day, a random building is chosen that will take you to LA, but reversed. Let me give you an example.
Zaia points to the boarded-up window.
ZAIA: Take notice to the boarded-up window. The boards were on the left window back in the original world, but now, they are on the right window.
DRAY: What happens if we go to the casino?
ZAIA: I don't know! Let's go and see.
We head over to the casino, but it is hard to navigate because we now have to get used to the reversed world. Once we get there, we look behind the casino before we head in and see 2 dead bodies with gunshots in the heads of both of them.
DRAY: Who are these?
Zaia inspects and notices that the bodies are familiar.
ZAIA: That's us!
DRAY: That's... disturbing.
Then, we both head into the casino and go to the roulette table where the mechanism was and we look under it. We can see that it is still intact, like it never aged!
ZAIA: Looks like it never changed.
DRAY: Alternate universes are confusing sometimes.
ZAIA: Are you kidding? We tried to hide in an abandoned building from the police, it took us to a dystopian world of sorts that is just LA, but reversed. THAT'S confusing.
Then, we can see from outside, red and blue flashing lights.
DRAY: Quick! Defensive maneuver!
We both hide next to the door, when one of the cops enters the casino.
