After It
A Fitzsimmons story

Author Note 1: this story takes place after jemma and the monolith happen so only read if you have seen it because there will be spoilers.

Jemma reached for his hand. She was desperate to get out. Out of that place where she had suffered for so many months. Away from all that pain.
Their hands brushed and he reached a little further to get a proper grip on her wrist. He slowly pulled her towards him. Tears were streaming down her face. He kept on pulling. She could see a light. It was earth. She was finally home.
Fitz was there looking at her with relief. He instantly pulled her into him and hugged her as if there was no tomorrow.
Daisy sat next to them with tears running down her cheeks. She was exhausted from keeping the monolith open. She suddenly collapsed, thankfully Mack was there to catch her.
Jemma woke up in a bed. Fitz was asleep next to her in a chair. She went back to sleep knowing that he was okay.
They both woke up two hours later.
"Hey. How are you feeling?" Fitz said.
"I'm fine. Never been better actually." Jemma said back.
"Are you sure? You just came off of an alien planet and you say you've never felt better."
"Yes that's right."
Fitz knew something was wrong. This was the woman he loved; it would be impossible not to notice. He decided to do something about it.
He made his way to Coulson's office, knocked on the door and went inside.
"Excuse me Sir. I think something is wrong with Jemma. She said she has never felt better and she doesn't seem to be showing any signs of trauma. I don't think that that is Jemma." Fitz reported.
"Okay. Ask her about what she went through on that planet. You saw that planet and what you said about it there is no way that something bad didn't happen to her." Coulson ordered.
"Of course Sir."
As Fitz was walking back into the lab, he saw Jemma walking around looking like she had never been there before. At the sound of his footsteps she spun around.
"Oh. Hello Leopold." she said. She sounded different as well.
"Hi. Jemma. Can you please tell me about what happened on the planet?" he asked politely.
"Coulson. She told me everything. On the planet she met this man called Will, he kept her alive while she worked on a way to get them both out of there. Apparently there was also this thing that they called It, it turned humans insane and then infected them. Will got infected and killed himself, and that's all that she told me. She refused to say anything else." Fitz told Coulson.
"Keep asking her, we need to know what went on there." said Coulson.
"I can't interrogate her like that. I love her."
"Then get Daisy or May to do it."
