I hope you will like this new story and my very first My Hero Academia fanfic. It is actually a result of a really random idea after I rewatched Your Name for the thirtieth time and listened to Might+U for hours. At first, it was meant to be just a lighthearted comedy story, but as I added more outlines, more serious it got, so I can assure you this will get darker as the story progresses. I would've posted it sooner if I didn't get such a huge response on Facebook group when I simply asked for suggestions for the title XD Since so many people were interested in checking it out, I really wanted to make it good and explore this what-if scenario until the whole storyline was done and all original characters were properly developed. Thank you all of you who helped me decide for the title and I will likely use the other suggestions for chapter titles. :D I really appreciate all of your support.

"Wh-Where… am… I?"

Izuku slowly opened his eyes, seeing white spots and blurry images of a dark place. The green haired teen quickly shut his eyes, trying to sort out the fuzzy feeling in his head. He could sort out several voices coming from the distance… that or they were close by and his hearing wasn't working properly.

"Yo, he seems to be waking up."

"Nah give it a few more minutes and he will be out of it again."

"Yeah, what use beating a punching bag that doesn't respond?"

The teen forced himself to open his eyes again, this time focusing them into a single spot to fight over the dizziness. He could sort out the group of four of five people, all of them gathered around a table. Izuku didn't know why, but he was one hundred percent sure they were villains, just on the gut feeling alone. They continued to chatter in chilled manner while downing bottles of something rather alcoholic that he could smell all the way from the other wall.

Wall?

Yeah. They were all in the small building, the group of men sitting at the table on one side, while he was leaned against the wall facing them. He failed to recognize any of them and considering he had a good knowledge of a lot of villains and important people, that must've meant they were very low-ranking villains or grunts working for a much more powerful person. Izuku tried to fix those few locks that were sticking on his forehead to see them better when he realized two things at once.

First – his wrists were tightly bound behind his back by those handcuffs that prevent you from using your quirk. Well, what did he expect? Those were villains, he was a hero in training so it made sense they restrained him to prevent him from attacking them.

Second – his body was incredibly weak for some reason and he was aching all over, even feeling fractures in many of his bones. His shoulders felt like they were pulled down by weights, his head was still spinning and all of his muscles were just sore, like he hadn't moved from that spot in days.

How come? He was darn sure he has been working out a few days ago, even using difficult One for All moves with All Might in order to get ready for upcoming mission. Has he been so beat up that he suffered temporary amnesia? Did he fail the mission? Was anyone with him? What kind of a mission did he have in the first place?

"Shut it brat."

Izuku didn't realize he was muttering, now all of the villains staring at him.

"Oh come on, he hasn't been this talkative for weeks. Let him mutter his nonsense."

Weeks?!

He has been kept by these guys for weeks?! Now Izuku was definitely in a panic mode. What in the world could've happened to him to suddenly have no recollection for the past few weeks? His training taught him to stay calm in any situation, but this was on the whole new level. The green haired teen tried to wiggle his hands and feet, anything, just to test his moving options. This was insane and he needed to escape to figure this out.

Much to his surprise only his hands were bound, though he soon learned why. His body was a literal dead weight, every single part hurting whenever he tried to move in any way. Even if he was able to use his quirk, he would likely faint from all the pain. Still, if he could just get out of there, run towards the nearest person or any other place where he could notify other heroes of where he was after his supposed abduction…

"I said look up."

Izuku suddenly got blinded by a light from a torch, the kind doctors would use. One of the villains from the room was gripping his aching chin and pointed it in his other eye. The man looked different from others, with his hair kept in a short ponytail, mouth covered by a neat neckerchief and dressed in rather formal clothing. Actually, Izuku wasn't sure if the person was there before.

"I told you to keep him in one piece." the man turned towards the others "Not in a nearly one piece."

"The brat kept pulling stupid stunts. Someone had to teach him a lesson."

"Yeah, you made us keep him in this single-room shithole for weeks, what do you expect."

"It worked though, he barely moved from that spot."

"You should've picked a house with a cellar."

"We will clear this out at headquarters and remember, none of this would happen if you would do your job right. I spent weeks cleaning up your mess."

The green haired teen determined this person was the boss and in a way he felt familiar but he couldn't tell from where. Despite it, he couldn't connect him with any villain he knew about so far, so he must've been a low ranking villain. Still, the way he bossed around his grunts seemed rather calculated, very organized for unrecognizable villain.

"Get the car running. I'll bring him in twenty minutes."

Izuku started shivering when the man rolled up his sleeves and brought even more medical instruments. The teen got surprised when his handcuffs were removed, but it didn't make much difference since his body couldn't move much. No matter how little of One for All he tried to use, even the quirk wouldn't budge.

In fact he didn't feel any of it.

More shivers ran down his spine as the villain simply picked him up like a broken doll and placed him on the tattered couch on the other side of the room. The man picked a scalpel and much to Izuku's horror, he made an incision on his right arm. The young hero feared the worst, recalling doctor's words of how his arm could lose its use if he were to seriously damage it a few more times.

"Relax."

Seriously? The guy was digging into his arm and expected him to relax?! If Izuku wasn't in panic mode yet, he was definitely now. His breathing was getting more uneven with each cut, praying this villain at least had enough medical background not to mess up his arm.

Though now that his head was clearer, his eyes focused more on what was further down his arm.

There were no scars on his hand.

Izuku stared, completely forgetting about the piercing pain of the scalpel. The two scars on his hand, a reminder of his battle with Muscular, were missing. He knew scars are bound to fade away over time, but this looked like he never had them. Even his fingers looked perfectly okay with no signs of deformities from his previous battles. Since the villain was moving his arms around to do more incisions, Izuku could see several scars he failed to recognize, like the two big ones on the backside of his both arms. And not only that…

His arms had no muscle.

Not only arms, his entire body looked as skinny as it was back in Junior High School, before his training with All Might began. The teen understood it could be from his long time in captivity, but the more he observed his body, more it looked like he never had any muscle in the first place.

"The car is ready!" one of the grunts shouted, bringing Izuku out of his thinking.

The man simply nodded, bandaging all incisions and practically dropping the teen into arms of another grunt.

"Make sure he is cuffed." he said as he went to put away all of his medical equipment, staring at the grunts with piercing crimson eyes.

The one holding Izuku visibly shook from fear while the other one looked like he couldn't care less about the order. He lazily picked the handcuffs, nodding to his supposed boss who was too busy answering a phone call and followed the first grunt outside before clipping them on the teen.

Izuku expected they would be at some God forsaken place in the middle of nowhere, likely during the night time if they needed to get to another hideout. A bright sunny day was certainly not something he was expecting to see, let alone a picturesque countryside with a nice view at the nearby village. If he wasn't in the hands of villains and practically paralyzed he might've even enjoy being at this location.

But reality was far grimmer and now was his only chance to get away. Wriggling, kicking, even biting, whatever moves he still had, Izuku tried to escape, his injured state not giving him much choice. He even tried to scream, hoping some villager would be wandering nearby to hear his cries. Much to no avail, even his voice seemed to be in a similar state as his body. The only sound he could make were just mere whimpers equivalent to a wailing of a lion cub.

"Aren't you lively today?" the villain laughed as he playfully ruffled his hair that only made Izuku glare at him "Heh, even his attitude is back."

The man carrying him didn't say much, only giving the other one the look to take the things more seriously which only provoked him to do the opposite. Izuku didn't have much in say when the trunk was opened and he was ungracefully thrown into it. He only got to see the cocky villain giving him a shit-eating grin before the trunk was closed and locked. Not long after the vehicle started moving, brushing away any other hope Izuku still had.

Now think, Izuku muttered to himself, just think. If your body can't move, then use your head. He has been if far more dire situations in even more restrained positions, this shouldn't be that big of a deal. Fortunately, he wasn't in a complete darkness, the sun shining though several cracks inside of the trunk. It must've been an old car model, possibly stolen or had fake registry plates. The road felt a bit bumpy, but otherwise alright like any other country road. The background sounds couldn't tell him much either as it was a typical countryside with occasional forest sounds. The villains were likely getting away from the village so any kicking at the trunk would be pretty much useless and would probably just give them a reason to restrain him more.

Speaking of restrains, Izuku only now realized that the cuffs partially slipped off his wrists. That cocky villain must've forgotten to snap them all the way, giving the young hero at least a tiny bit more chances to get away. Though quirk-cancelling cuffs or not, Izuku wasn't sure if he could use One for All in the first place.

He had no idea what have those people did to him in captivity. Drugged him? Possibly, would explain his temporal amnesia and partial paralysis. Kept him as bargaining tool or lab rat? That could be true too, though the answer didn't help Izuku's growing anxiety. If they abducted him because of One for All and possibly even took it from him… Izuku could never forgive himself for breaking his promise to All Might. Not now that he was so close to being a pro…

The car suddenly made a sharp turn, making Izuku crush against the other side of the trunk. The hit made his already fractured bones ache even more, some of them even cracking loudly. He tried not to think of all previous times he broke his bones, but as he was leaning against the warm metal, he felt it.

It was a tiny bit of it, but it was there.

One for All.

Or at least something that felt very similar to it.

He would usually feel it engulfing his entire body, like a heavy blanket or pulsating heat spreading like ivy over his skin. What he felt now was like that same warmth remained in his chest and slowly spread to his head and back.

No matter, little bit of One for All was all he needed. His body might've been suffering from malnourishment and whatever physical torture he has been put through, but a pinch of his quirk should've filled him with enough adrenaline to escape and find some help before exhausting himself completely.

"One… for All… Full… Cowling…"

The heat became stronger and Izuku was prepared to focus it completely into his legs. Gathering all of his power into a single kick, just enough to break out of the trunk and then run as far as he can. The young hero patiently waited for the power to spread to his legs, but the more time passed, more it seemed that it wasn't working.

"Come… on…" Izuku again reached for the power that didn't want to spread further than his chest.

Why? Why wasn't it working now? Izuku has been in situations where he had less strength left and yet he could still get those five percent power in his legs. As One for All began to fade, the young hero was increasingly getting anxious as this was his last resort.

But then he thought about the way he felt One for All when leaning against the warm metal. How the heat touching his back felt strangely relieving to his skin even though it was very close to burning him. Crawling closer to it, he indeed saw the warmth helped him keep his quirk in check, but why? Nor All Might or Gran Torino ever told him anything about heat contributing to One for All. It could possibly just be in his head and the warmth was like a placebo effect.

Real or not, Izuku knew he didn't have any other chances, so he pressed his back even tighter against the scorching metal, feeling hot but pleasant surface of the trunk. His chest gathered up the strength again, though this time, the young hero focused it only to his upper body. His left arm was still in a good condition and considering the situation, Izuku didn't think any other body part could be just as effective.

Clenching his fist together and feeling One for All pulsating through his veins again, slowly spreading to his arm until familiar red lines appeared around his fist. Without a second thought he threw the biggest punch he could, trying to hit the trunk enough for it to open or at least unlock it. In no way did he expect something like this.

His hand went right through the metal.

Well, not through-through but as in creating a hole. The edges were still melting like someone threw it in the in the blacksmith workshop. Izuku gulped at the unlikely sight, staring at his hand that had no burns, just like Kacchan and Shoto. He could remember all the times he saw them use fire that never burned them and despite touching the edges of still melting metal, his skin was fine.

Izuku was puzzled of how he was not only suddenly capable of literally melting his way through metal but also at his immunity to fire. One for All might've given him many various quirk traits, such as super power and speed, but this? The young hero stared at his hand in both fear and fascination, trying to understand how it was working. He carefully focused One for All in a single finger, curiously bumping it against metal wall right next to the hole. It wasn't visible at first but soon that part of metal melted, smaller hole appearing underneath. Izuku's eyes lit up at the newly discovered power, having an urge to take out his little notebook and scribble down every single detail about.

However, that would have to wait. He was still in a moving vehicle, driven by unknown villains who were apparently strong enough to kidnap him and keep him for several weeks under the key. Izuku didn't know how that new quirk trait worked, but he had to rely on it right now since any other One for All movie didn't budge. Before making the hole bigger, he carefully peeked, taking in any detail that might aid him in his escape.

They were still at the countryside, though Izuku quickly found out what he needed. The car was on a steep hill and there was a small town nearby, close enough for what he needed it for. Taking a deep breath, Izuku thought it through again and after a quick consideration he concluded that was the best escape route, judging from the fact how weak his body was.

"One for… All… Full… cowling!"

With both hands pressing on the trunk with all of his might, the hole got big enough for him to slip through. Using the remaining strength he pushed himself forward, ignoring the piercing pain in his chest and praying none of his fractured ribs will further break. The grass luckily cushioned his fall and knowing One for All won't get him far this time, he did only other thing he could.

He rolled down the hill.

This was probably the silliest and downright suicidal idea, but at this point that was the only option left. Izuku's vision was spinning, shifting from green grass and blue sky. He forced his mouth shut which wasn't exactly easy as he would regularly hit rocks that added even more bruises to his body. It wasn't clear if he was spotted by villains or not since the car was still going though it didn't take long before he noticed grunts chasing after him.

The rolling plan would sound good if it weren't for the fact that those villains had quirks. One of them stretched his arms several feet away like tentacles. Another one partially transformed into a wolf and ran towards him on all fours. The third one was the same guy who gave him the creepy check-up, floating in the mid-air thanks to the device strapped to his back.

He might've been rolling away fast, but Izuku knew that at least the floating guy will be able to snatch him back in a matter of seconds. The young hero could even see him reaching for something that looked like a syringe and this was certainly not something Izuku was looking forward to. No, just no. He couldn't handle another set of forgotten weeks being drugged and used for whatever experiments this wannabe doctor had in mind.

More anxiety bubbled in his stomach, a thought of being helpless at the complete mercy of those villains giving him uncomfortable shivers. No, please no, Izuku pleaded in his head, with eyes closed. He needed answers and if whatever liquid that was in the syringe would get in his system he would only end up with more lost time and questions. It was like he was back in elementary school not being able to protect a classmate from the bullies or even himself. He was quirkless back then and even now he felt like he had nothing. One for All might've not be working right and yet the more he thought about it, this new strange power was surging through his chest and back. The warmth was rising and so did his urge to get out of there. The image of an egg exploding in microwave felt more real than ever, even with an addition of this weird heat increasing deep inside of him.

BAM!

Izuku pried his eyes open from the surprise of explosion as he was thrown in the air. Was that Kacchan? Or maybe Shouto? Or a hero coming to his rescue? It wasn't clear from all the smoke and yet that floating hero was still getting closer and closer, the syringe ever so scary in his hand. Unable to remain calm, Izuku just curled up in ball, much to the protest of his injuries.

The heat in his body on the other hand was increasing, embracing him with surge as intense as Full Cowl. There were no red lines on his skin this time, instead something tore out of his shirt on his back. The adrenaline was really kicking in at this point since Izuku stopped feeling the fractures, but no amount of it could help him prepare for the sight right behind him.

Fire.

Lots of fire in fact.

On his back.

A normal person would scream, but not Izuku.

He just stared at the steady flame on his back in mid-air, completely forgetting about the creepy doctor. Dozens of questions popped up in his head, wondering just exactly do the flames work and how can One for All be connected to fire quirk. Izuku was falling down and yet he couldn't move his eyes off the huge flame, making his back look like a remote fire place.

Only once he was inches away from the ground he realized the situation and with panic once again filling up, it happened again.

BAM!

Another explosion blew him away even further. This time it was clear no one but him was responsible for it. Whatever made flames stay on his back must've been also capable of these firey boosts. His body internally screamed from all the pain and damage he was suffering, making the teen nearly faint. Still, Izuku knew that this will keep him going only if he continues to set explosions and that's what he did.

The small town was in complete vicinity now, a few buildings already close enough and even a few people walking down the streets. As much as he was overjoyed to see non-villains, he had to keep in mind his very first priority – making sure no one gets hurt. Which is exactly what he was doing to himself at the moment.

The flames were being reduced with each explosion until they finally gave out, just like the last inch of adrenaline running in Izuku's body. He outright felt how all of his mobility was shutting down as well as his consciousness. With heavy eyelids slipping down his eyes he tried hard to see if villains caught up to him or not. The explosions took much of his focus as he was running away that he couldn't keep up with his surroundings. Last thing he remembered seeing was the floating villain pushing his two grunts away in order to each him faster, though just before he was able to grab his arm, Izuku managed to pull out the last explosion. The young hero was back in the air, but then he was slowly falling down towards the water fountain in the middle of city centre.

At least his fall won't be as painful, Izuku thought, wanting for this to just end. However, instead of splashy landing, the young hero landed somewhere much more comfortable.

"Midoriya?"

This voice… so familiar. Izuku tried to get his eyes open to get at least a small glance to assure him that he was truly somewhere safe. The sight of this shadowy person holding him in his arms and his constant companion by their side immediately took him back to the memorable cavalry battle.

"Toko…yami?" Izuku muttered in relief, not needing a confirmation as the former classmate immediately shouted his reply.

"Hawks!" the bird headed hero yelled into his cell phone held by Dark Shadow "We found him! We found missing Izuku Midoriya!"

So others were looking for him, Izuku thought as a small smile spread across his face.

"Hang in there Midoriya." Tokoyami leaned closer once he was finished talking to his cell phone "Help is on the way. We'll patch you up."

Izuku could barely see at this point, the nausea and exhaustion getting to him fast. Just as he was fading into state of unconsciousness, he could see a person landing next to him, his distinct red wings filling in the fading picture.

"Yes, a pro hero that went missing four months ago! Pro hero Firefly!"

…firefly?

Wait that wasn't his hero name.

His hero name was Deku.

And yet, Hawks kept repeating the name Firefly into his phone as well as the gathering crowd that noticed his explosive landing.

It could be just his imagination, but just when his eyes were about to close, he could swore he saw someone running towards him with a worry written all over their face.

Someone in black clothes, green grenade gloves and spiky blonde hair…

But that really is just his imagination, Izuku thought…

And yet that person kept running towards him while yelling…

For the ones who follow my other works, especially Yu-Gi-Oh! fanfics, don't worry, I didn't forget about any of those. In fact, due to complete lockdown because of the virus in my country, I have a bit more time to write now and I'm very close to wrapping up BbHHbD and Lost Kattobingu, plus new chapters for Safe in Your Arms and The Flight of the Lost Children (Dragon Guardians is a bit on hold due to massive plothole that needs fixing). Thank you so much for your support and hopefully, I will manage to update those stories soon. Stay safe and stay healthy!
