"Gale, we're going for a ride. You want to come?" The wind spirit twirled around Elsa in a flurry of leaves. They went over to a shore off the river. The river spirit came out of the water as Elsa laid her hands on his muzzle and ice spread over his body. He liked the feeling of not being limited to only the water anymore.
He strode up on land and allowed Elsa to mount him. They raced through the forest. The fire spirit, Ember, ran along behind them as Elsa created snow behind her. She conjured a pile of it and Ember jumped on top of it, melting his way to the middle happily.
Elsa laughed as she saw her friend's happiness. She turned around as they came to the ocean and kept going. They rode for a good while before they saw Ahtohallan in the distance. She loved the feeling of riding, with the wind going through her hair and rushing past her face. She loved the smell of the ocean, the sweet, salty smell that filled her nostrils. She closed her eyes to help take in the smell and the joyous feeling of everything around her.
Ah-ah oh-oh
They stopped.
They had heard the voice again, but how? The past had been made right, why had the voice returned?
"You heard that too, right?" The horse shook his mane in response. He had heard it alright. Elsa looked at the frozen river. She couldn't think why the voice was calling her again. There was only one thing she could do.
"Come on, we should head back." The water spirit turned around and started running back to Northuldra.
Arendelle
Kristoff strolled up behind Anna. She was looking out on the fjord from the balcony.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Hey Kristoff. I'm just wondering how Elsa's doing. I sent word to her about the charades this weekend. I know she's doing the best she can but," she sighed, "I just wish it was time." She smiled at the thought of her sister.
"Well, it looks like you won't be missing her anymore."
"What do you mean?"
"She's right there." He pointed down on the water. Sure enough, Elsa was riding across the fjord on the water spirit.
"Something's wrong. She wouldn't be here early if it wasn't." Anna rushed past Kristoff and he followed her out the door. They got through the gates just as Elsa and the two other spirits came up on shore. Elsa dismounted and walked over to Anna.
"Something's wrong. I heard the voice again." She was worried.
"What? But, we made up for what happened in the past. Why would the voice be calling you again?" Anna was shocked at what her sister had just told her.
"I don't know, but it was coming from Ahtohallan again, so there has to be something else down there. I need your help."
"The last time you needed help, you pushed Olaf and I away. Are you going to do that again?"
"No, I will not do that ever again. I swear to you, that won't happen ever again. I promise."
"Okay. What do you need?"
"I need you, Kristoff, Sven and Olaf to come with me. We're going to see Gran Pabbie."
Later
They were travelling through the mountains to where the trolls lived. They were just coming upon their hot springs. Sven stopped and they got out of the sleigh.
"Gran Pabbie! We need your help, again." Kristoff called to the boulders. They rattled and rumbled. The rocks started rolling towards them as the trolls came to meet them. The troll elder, Gran Pabbie by name, uncurled from his rock form and came up in front of them.
"I sense something wrong. What is it?"
"I heard the voice again. Coming from Ahtohallan. I don't know what to do. Can you help us again?"
"Let me see what I can." He raised his hands into the air and light came from them.
"I see, another world, filled with danger. No one is safe from it. A great battle took place. Lives were lost. Friends, bereft, broken apart, and grief-stricken. I see, a girl, frozen in an icy prison, surrounded by the monsters of her world. A gate opened, and something came through. A beloved daughter. Followed by the forces of evil, made of darkness. You must free her from the ice before the evil escapes," he stopped as the vision faded. "And consumes our world."
He turned toward them. "You must find this girl within the depths of the frozen river, but be careful, for darkness could lurk around every corner. Once you find her, she might not trust you, but will not attack unless provoked."
"Okay. If that's the case, we'd better leave as soon as possible," Elsa declared.
"I'll notify the Arendellian council." Anna turned to Kristoff. "Will you be able to follow?"
"I'm coming with you no matter what."
"It's decided than. We'll leave immediately."
Author's note: I'm going to let you imagine Gran Pabbie's vision, partly because it would be cool for you to imagine what you want and partly because what I was imagining while writing this would've been way to difficult to write out as he was talking. End author's note.
