"He'd never like you. You're just a freak who likes the most popular guy at your school." Virgil told himself. He was always anxious and his self esteem was so low that he hated himself in every way possible. He tried not to show emotion much. He was already picked on because he would cry from panic attacks. His breathing speed increased and he was trying to hold back tears. He couldn't have a panic attack right now, not in class.
Virgil's teachers knew that Virgil would have attacks so if he had one, they would send him in the hall with another student until he calmed down.
"Roman could you go in the hall with Virgil for a few minutes?" The teacher said. Roman went into the hall with Virgil. The attack increased.
All of Virgil's hearing cut out and the room became a blurry haze. In the hall Virgil and Roman went through breathing excersizes.
"Breathe in for four seconds. Hold it for seven seconds. Finally, breathe out for eight seconds." Roman instructed. "Do it as many times as you need." Virgil looked up at Roman. A slight blush dusted Roman's cheeks.
Roman had seen Virgil in the halls before but he had never spoken to him. Deep down behind the popularity, Roman was anxious, insecure, and an introvert. Roman was only popular because he was in the drama club. Roman loved acting and he became a whole new person on stage and could fit almost any role assigned.
Virgil had calmed down from the attack.
"I-I'm sorry that you had t-to deal with me." Virgil said looking down at the tiled floor. His hands were in his purple and black hoodie and his hair was a mess. Of all people in his class, why Roman? Why his crush?
"It's fine trust me. I hope you're okay though." Roman replied.
A moment of silence passed.
"We should head back into the room." Roman said, trying to keep the situation from being akward.
They both headed back into the class room sharing a smile form time to time.

After school

Virgil was walking out of school with his best friend, Patton Foster, when he suddenly felt a sudden force take him to the ground. Great, he had bumped into someone.
"Hey are you okay?" the voice called. Virgil looked up and saw a man wearing a black collared shirt with a navy blue neck tie and glasses holding out his hand to help Virgil get up.
"Logan?" Virgil asked, making the man move back suddenly.
"Virgil?" he responded sounding unsure of himself. "I didn't know you came here." Logan said.
"I could say the same to you. Geez it really has been a while. Oh this is Logan." He went on introducing Patton to Logan and vise versa. They then got on to some witty banter and in just ten minutes it seemed as if Logan, Patton, and Virgil had known each other for years.
"Oh hey Logan!" A familiar voice called. Roman was running up to Logan when he abruptly stopped. "I didn't know you knew Virgil." He said.
"Yeah we were childhood friends but went our separate ways when we went off to middle school. " Virgil said. He then looked at Roman and his face turned red. Too make matters worse, Patton pushed Virgil into Roman and started giggling.
"Patton what the heck?!" Virgil yelled chasing after him. He ended up chasing Patton to his own house so Virgil decided to say goodbye and go inside. He immediately felt calmer in the familiar atmosphere that always seemed to linger in his home.
Virgil lived with his brother Emile and Emile's boyfriend, Remy. Emile was 22 along with Remy. Emile was majoring in psychology. He wanted to be a therapist and help people because he needed to go to therapy when he was younger due to trauma.
Remy had recently opened a coffee shop of his own. He liked the idea of making and selling coffee and other drinks. Remy's shop was gaining popularity quickly and he became known around their small town.
"Hey Virgil!" Emile called from the kitchen.
