This story follows the story line of The Dukes: An Alternate Universe. These events occur in May of 1975, several weeks after Bo and Luke got back from Vietnam. Bo was there for 9 months and Luke was there for only 2 weeks. Jesse and Martha are the parents of Bo and Daisy, Luke is their nephew that lives with them. I have in this story line that Bo owns the General Lee and Luke has a Dodge truck. This is a crossover with Criminal Minds. Agent David Rossi and Dr Spencer Reid are tracking a kidnapper and end up in Hazzard County.

As Bo and Luke were driving back from town, they came across a car on the side of the road.

"Hey, Bo. Pull on over." Bo pulled up behind the stalled car. As Bo shut off the engine of the General, Rossi approached them.

"Evening, sir. What seems to be the problem?" Luke asked.

"Not sure. Just died." They both made their way out of the General. Luke went to the car and looked under the hood, with Bo following.

"Name's Bo Duke and this is my cousin Lukas."

"David Rossi and this is Dr Spencer Reed." Rossi revealed.

"Nice to meet ya." Luke said as they all shook hands.

"Not from these parts are ya?" Bo asked Spencer.

"How did you know?" Spencer replied.

"People from around these parts dress like that for only 3 things. Weddings, funerals and church." Bo smiled as he said that reply.

"We're from Quantico, Virginia."

"FBI?" Bo asked.

"Yeah, we're from the behavioral analysis unit. BAU for short."

"Following a case?" Luke guessed as Bo now looked under the hood.

"Yes. Child kidnapper." Bo's head shot up at that.

"You think he came here?" Bo asked.

"No, we think he's headed for Cedar City." When they saw the confused look on Bo and Luke's face, Rossi added. "We almost caught him in Tennessee. He left behind the items he took from the boys."

"He lost his trophies, so he may go back to the places where he had the boys. Relive the moment." Spencer explained to Bo and Luke.

"Where was his first attack?" Bo asked.

"Cedar City, 5 days ago. He took 4 boys in 5 days in neighboring towns. We were headed there before our car broke down."

"You won't find him in the dark. We have to call Cooter and have him tow your car to his shop." Luke told them. "We can't fix this without tools."

"You can stay at our farm, 'till your car gets fixed." Bo replied.

"Thank you." Rossi replied.

"If I was you, I'd hold off on the thank you. We run a farm so we're up early. Also, I have younger 5 brothers and 1 sister at home, plus Lukas here." Bo smiled. "Also, my ma is pregnant. Don't count on getting much sleep."

"You always this friendly to strangers?" Spencer thought that their offer was unusual.

"You two seem nice enough." Bo replied as he closed the hood. Luke made his way to the General and picked up the cb.

"Lost sheep to Crazy C, come back."

"Breaker one, breaker one. I might be crazy but I ain't dumb. Crazy Cooter coming at ya. What you need Lukas?"

"Tow out on Old Mill Road. 10 miles South from our farm. Stranger's car broke down."

"I'll be there in a few."

"Much obliged. I'm gone."

"10-4 good buddy." Luke put the cb handle down and waved them over.

"Cooter's on his way. Let's go." Luke looked at Spencer and Rossi when Spencer asked a question.

"Why did you climb out the windows?" Bo smiled at Luke then Spencer.

"It's a race car, we weld the doors for safety." Spencer looked at Rossi confused. "I'll help ya in, if you want." Bo offered as Rossi laughed as he got their items from the car.

"I think he can manage, right Spencer?" Rossi patted his back as he made his way to the General.

"Yeah." Spencer mumbled under his breath. They got to the farm as Martha and Jesse walked out of the barn.

"Runnin' a little late are we?" Jesse asked Luke through the driver's side window.

"Found these two stranded on the side of the road." Jesse glanced in and saw Rossi and Spencer in the back seat.

"Dinner's almost done. Come on in." Martha replied. Rossi made his way out of the General easily, as Spencer struggled to get out. As Spencer made his way out, his foot got caught on the door frame. Before he could fall, Luke grabbed his arm.

"Thanks." Luke nodded his response. Once they got out of the General, Rossi introduced himself and Spencer.

"Name's Agent David Rossi and this is my partner Dr. Spencer Reid."

"FBI." Luke whispered as he walked past Jesse.

"I see. What brings you to these parts?"

"Following a lead. We were headed to Cedar City when our car broke down." Replied Rossi.

"Name's Jesse Duke. This is my wife Martha. Our other children are in the house." They made their way inside and Martha gestured for the two to sit at the table. Several minutes later the Duke family all sat down at the table for dinner. After they ate and cleared the table, Martha sent the other children outside to play.

"We lost a lot of time, is there a short cut to Cedar City?" Jesse went to get a map for Rossi. Rossi picked up his briefcase and when he did, everything fell to the floor.

Bo picked up the pictures that fell to the floor, while Rossi picked the folders. Rossi noticed that Bo seemed to want to ask a question as he stared at the pictures.

"Did he...?" Bo didn't finish his sentence but Rossi knew what he wanted to ask.

"No, he didn't." Bo nodded. "He never hurt them, left them unharmed in the woods. Close to the road so they could be found." Bo handed Rossi the pictures.

"That's good for them. One less thing to be traumatized about." Bo helped a confused Rossi spread out the map that Jesse gave him, onto the kitchen table.

"What's with the pictures of the hair?" Bo asked.

"He took a lock of hair from the boys he took. Found 5 locks of hair but only 4 victims. The 5th lock of hair was in a baggie dated 5 years ago."

"Which means there's a victim from 5 years ago that hasn't been identified?" Luke asked.

"That is correct." Luke looked at Bo, who was now looking at the map.

"Bo?" Bo looked up at Luke and Rossi saw a look of hatred in Bo's eyes before Bo turned and ran from the house. Luke saw Bo's reaction and tried to stop him from leaving.

"Shit! Bo! Bo, stop!" Luke yelled as he ran from the house as well. He ran down the drive and could not see tail lights. Luke ran back into the house and told Jesse. "He took Sweet Tilly. No way I can track him."

"Hold on a minute! Care to explain to us what's going on? Who or what is Sweet Tilly?" Rossi asked.

"Old moonshine runner. No tail lights or brake lights." Replied Jesse.

"Quiet too. You could drive her through a cemetery at night and no one would notice." Added Martha. Luke happened to look at the map that laid on the table.

"Jess, you don't think he's headed there, do you?"

"I do, let's go."

"Hold up, we take one car. If we find him, we go back to the car and blow the horn." Rossi told them.

"Sounds good." Jesse replied.

"Let's take the General. Can get there faster." Suggested Luke. When they got to the woods near Cedar City, they split up. Luke going with Spencer while Jesse went with Rossi. As Rossi was walking ahead of Jesse, he heard a commotion.

"Stay here." Rossi instructed. Rossi ran ahead with his gun drawn. He reached the clearing, just as Bo and the kidnapper rolled down the embankment. Rossi got to the edge, looked down and saw both men laying motionless. He made his way down to Bo and found him waking up.

"Don't move, Bo." Bo slightly nodded. Rossi made his way to the other man and felt for a pulse. He shook his head as he didn't find one. He made his way back to Bo.

"Bo, how did you know?" Bo sat up and replied. "Had a hunch." Bo got to his feet and made his way up the embankment; stumbling several times.

When Rossi made his way up the embankment, he told Bo. "Hold up, Bo." Rossi looked Bo over and told him. "The side of your head is bleeding." Bo touched the side of his head, looked at the blood on his fingers and swayed on his feet.

"Bo? Hold on." Rossi lead him to a rock so he could sit down. "Don't look at the blood." Rossi thought that Bo was light headed from looking at the blood but he was instead experiencing a flashback. Rossi took out a handkerchief and wiped the blood off of Bo's fingers. He then took the handkerchief and placed it against the side of Bo's head.

"Hold this here." When Bo didn't respond, Rossi became concerned. "Bo?" Rossi lifted Bo's head slightly so Bo was looking at him. "Bo?" Bo looked at Rossi confused only just realizing that Rossi was there with him.

"You alright, son?" Bo nodded as he looked around.

"Help the boy." Rossi gave Bo a confused look. "He's over there, behind the rocks." Rossi went to the rocks and saw the unconscious boy. Rossi checked the boy over and looked back at Bo.

"How did you know he was here, Bo?"

"Like I said, I had a hunch." Rossi had a feeling that Bo was hiding something but before he could ask, Jesse walked up.

"Come on, son. Let's get you some help." Jesse helped Bo up, while Rossi picked up the boy. Bo and Jesse walked back to Sweet Tilly. Bo stopped before he got into the car. "Where's Luke?"

"Hold on." Jesse reached in the car and honked the horn several times. Several minutes later, Luke and Spencer made their way to the car.

When Luke saw blood in Bo's hair, he got concerned. "Bo, are you okay?

"I'm fine, Rossi has to get the boy to the hospital." Spencer and Luke turned around when they heard Rossi approach. Luke helped Bo into the General so he could take him to Doc Petticord's. While the others got into Sweet Tilly and drove to the hospital. The following day, the boy was released to his parents, he would be fine. Later in the day, Bo and Luke got back to the farm right in time for lunch. It was nice out so they all ate outside. Together, Jesse and Martha had 8 children, 7 that lived at home. She was pregnant with twins at this time. Bo and Daisy are their children but Luke is their nephew that they had custody of since he was three.

As they all ate and later sat around, Rossi couldn't help notice that Bo never left Luke's side. When Luke got up to use the bathroom, Bo was going to get up as well. Luke placed his hand onto his shoulder and whispered into Bo's ear. "I'll be just a minute. You're safe here." Bo nodded and watched Luke walk into the house. Bo took out a cigarette and a book of matches. Rossi watched Bo as he tried to light the cigarette. Bo was shaking so much, he couldn't strike the match.

Rossi walked up to Bo and told him. "Let me help you out." Bo looked up at him and gave him the matches. Rossi struck the match and lite the cigarette.

"Thanks."

"How old were you?" Bo glanced up at Rossi, then turned his attention back to the screen door. He took a drag off of his cigarette before he answered.

"14. I was taking a short cut back to the farm. Luke was home sick, so I was by myself. Stayed after school to get help on my homework. Got bush whacked. Woke up 2 days later in the hospital. He was never caught."

"Why didn't you tell us?" Bo got to his feet, took a drag off of his cigarette and backed away from Rossi.

"It happened 5 years ago. I wasn't sure if he was the same guy you were looking for."

"He was recently released from a 5 year prison sentance." Rossi thought for a moment, then realized what he first thought about Bo was true. "You were his first. The 5th lock of hair is yours, that's why you knew where he would go?" Bo gave a slight nod before he turned his attention to the ground. Before Rossi could add to the conversation, Luke came out of the house and walked up to Bo.

"Bo, you okay?" Bo looked at Rossi then back to Luke. "He knows." Luke gave Bo a worried look.

"You going to be okay?" Bo slightly shook his head and continued to take several more drags off of his cigarette.

"I'm sorry to bring up bad memories for you, son." When Rossi grabbed Bo's wrist; to prevent him from leaving, Bo finched back. He whispered to Rossi as he pointed towards him. "Don't ever touch me!" Bo took one last drag then crushed his cigarette out on the bottom of his boot, turned around and went into the house. Martha did not like it that Bo smoked but she only allowed it if Bo didn't leave the cigarettes and matches out; so the younger kids could find them. Also, Bo made sure he didn't leave the cigarette butts on the ground.

Surprised at Bo's reaction, Rossi told Luke. "Luke, I didn't mean to upset him."

"He slept next to me for months after." Luke revealed as he pushed his hair back. "With what happened to him as a child that night and going off to war, he doesn't feel safe anymore."

"Was he.." Before Rossi could finish his sentence, Luke replied. "No, he wasn't touched. Even with knowing that, to this day Bo won't go anywhere without me. Even now when we're both 19, he will still ask if he could sleep next to me. I can't say no to him. Ya know?"

"I think I understand."

Luke looked around before he continued. "The other kids don't know what happened to him. They also don't know that he sleeps next to me."

Rossi looked towards the house when Martha walked inside.

"Hey Bo. Are you alright?" Bo glanced at Martha as he helped Daisy put the dishes away.

"Daisy, could you play with Joey for a bit?" Daisy looked at Martha, who nodded her response. When she was out of earshot, Bo continued. "He knows that I'm the fifth kid that was taken."

"I figured that." She placed her hand onto his shoulder and took him into a hug. "I'm sorry, hon."

"Not your fault, ma."

"Honey, I know how difficult it was for you to trust people after that. I'm just worried about you." Bo slightly pulled away from Martha.

"I haven't thought about that day in years. Basically forgot about it."

"That's what worries me. You wouldn't leave Luke's side for months, even sleeping next to him. I think you still do, don't you?" Bo stood silent for several seconds.

"Not every night." He whispered to her.

"If that what gives you comfort, I won't deny you that."

Meanwhile, outside.

"Why did he finch when I touched his wrist?" Luke shrugged his shoulders; indicating that he didn't know.

"He was never like that before he went to Vietnam. I don't know what happened to him over there but he doesn't like his wrists being held." Luke laughed a little. "Found that out the hard way." Rossi gave Luke a confused look and Luke continued. "We was horsin' around one day in the barn, shortly after we got back and I pinned his wrists down. Damn near had a panic attack when he couldn't move his arms."

"So smoking is a stress reliever for him?" Rossi asked.

"He was a sniper in Vietnam. Started smoking over there to cope with the stress. Man came back a hero." When Luke saw the confused look on Rossi's face, he added. "Had 106 official kills, 138 they counted. Field promotion to Lieutenant when he saved his unit. Purple heart and bronze star as well. May have more that I'm not aware of. Doesn't talk to me about it." Rossi was surprised and impressed.

"I don't know what to say. I was there in '69, Marines." Rossi looked towards the house. "Will he be okay?"

Luke shrugged his shoulders. "He now knows that the man responsible is dead and that he and his brothers are safe. I think he'll be fine."

"I have experience in counseling victims of various crimes. You think he'd talk to me about it?"

"Let me talk to him first." Luke got up and went into the house, he found Bo in the kitchen helping Martha.

"Hey, Bo. Could I talk you?" At first Bo didn't reply. He set the dishes in the cupboard and turned to face Luke.

"Not here." He whispered. He motioned Luke to follow him, as he put his cowboy hat on. They made their way to the barn where they kept the horses. Bo got on his horse and motioned Luke to do the same. They rode out into the pasture for several minutes before Bo stopped his horse. They dismounted and tied the horses to a tree branch.

"I'm not sorry he's dead."

"I know, Bo. Agent Rossi has experience in this sort of thing. He would like to talk to you about what happened."

"Think it would help?"

"I do." Bo looked around.

"Send him over."

"I'll be right back." Luke got on his horse and added. "Please don't run off."

"I won't. Scout's honor." Bo held up his hand.

"You were never a scout."

"Still have honor." Luke laughed as he made his way back to Rossi.

"Hey, Rossi. Bo's up in the pasture by the oak tree. You can take my horse." Luke got down from the horse and gave Rossi the reins. Rossi got onto the horse and went to where Bo was.

"Up to talking?" Rossi asked as he got down from the horse.

"Like I said, I was knocked out. The last thing I remember was walking through the woods near our house. I heard something behind me, thought it was a squirrel. Next thing I remember was a cloth over my mouth and nose."

"Chloroform. He must have used too much or you were drugged. That's why you don't remember." Bo only nodded.

"I guess when I didn't come home, Sheriff Rosco and Jesse went out looking for me. Only took them about an hour to find me, because I was near the road line."

"Luke tells me that you don't feel safe." Bo nodded.

"When I'm with him or near him I'm fine. I haven't thought about that day in years until tonight."

"You and your brothers are safe. You realize that, right?"

"I do."

"I understand you recently got home from Vietnam?"

"Yeah, was there 9 months."

"Sniper?" Bo nodded.

"From what I understand, you're one hell of a shot."

"I held my own." Bo replied.

"You want to talk about that?"

"Nope." Rossi knew that it was normal for some returning soldiers not to talk about their time over there.

"Fair enough." Rossi looked around the field, everything look so calm and relaxing. "You feel safe here?"

"Safe enough." Bo took out a cigarette but did not light it.

"Stress reliever?"

"Yeah but I don't smoke out in the fields here." Bo placed the cigarette behind his ear and looked across the field. "Want to go for a ride?"

"Sure." Both got on their horses and started to ride. They rode in silence for several minutes until Bo spoke.

"Luke got sent to our unit the week we were to leave. Helped us on one last mission, to free a pow camp. Got bush whacked on our way back to camp. Had to shoot him in the leg to save his life." Rossi was now surprised that Bo was sharing information with him so easily. "Only there for 2 weeks. I'm glad he wasn't there very long."

"You two are very close." It was more of a statement than a question.

"We are." They continued to ride; now in silence. A half hour later Rossi broke the silence.

"How much land do you own?"

"Two thousand acreage here and about four hundred acreage, 20 miles north of here. Use that for hunting and fishing."

"Maybe a moonshine still or two?" Rossi smiled as he said that. Bo shook his head and laughed.

"I plead the fifth."

"I won't share your secret."

"Which one?"

"Both." Bo started to laugh at Rossi's reply.

"You going to be alright, Bo?"

"Over this, yeah."

"What happened over there that you're scared to be alone?"

"Lukas tell you that?"

"Yes, he did."

"Not your concern."

"I can help you get through this, Bo." Bo stopped his horse.

"What the hell do you know about what I'm goin' through!?"

"I was there in '69."

"Were you captured?" When Rossi didn't answer him, Bo smirked. "That's what I thought." Bo turned his horse and started to head back to the farm.

"I'm sorry Bo. I didn't know."

"No one does. And I'm keeping it that way." Rossi knew he would be betraying Bo's trust if he told anyone what was told to him in a confidential conversation. Several minutes past then Bo stopped his horse. He reached over and took hold of the reigns on David's horse, to hold the horse still.

"I'm sorry, David. I know you just want to help me but I.." Bo looked away from Rossi for a minute. Bo looked back at Rossi and continued. "You know they used kids as bait?" Rossi nodded.

Bo let loose of the reigns. "When we went out on a mission, there was a eerie feeling in the air that day. Everyone felt it. When we got close to a village, I had a feeling that something wasn't right. So I went up ahead and climbed a tree. Looked through the scope and saw a little girl running towards us. Thought that it was strange so I shot towards her side. When she stopped, the wind blew her coat open. That's when I saw the Claymore mine. My men took cover and all hell broke loose. Took out 30 V.C. before I got shot and fell out of the tree."

"Do you have nightmares about that day?"

"No." Bo lied and Rossi knew it but he decided to leave him be. They headed back to the farm in silence. When they got back the younger children were playing in the yard, as the older ones were doing chores. When Luke saw Bo and Rossi, he followed them into the barn. Bo started to remove the saddle from the horse as Luke took the reigns from Rossi.

"You okay?" Luke asked Bo when he removed the saddle. Bo looked at Luke and slightly shook his head. When they got the horses and the sadles put away, Luke approached Bo and whispered to him. "You need to talk, I'll listen." Bo gave Luke a small smile, took his hand and lead him to the ladder of the loft. They went up to the loft so they could talk alone. About an hour later, they re-joined the family.

"Hey, boys." Martha waved them over to her. "David and Spencer are going to head out now." Bo and Luke walked up to them and they all said their goodbyes. The rest of the night was uneventful as everyone went about their daily chores and got ready for the on coming day.
