You should know by now, considering the fact that I set an entire chapter as a disclaimer, that a like to talk a lot. So… I feel the need of a bit of justification before I start.

I started this fic eight years ago, after a wild idea that I had absolutely no clue how to develop. I wrote it regardless and the result was… shameful. I started posting the work online on a Brazilian HP fanfiction forum as soon as I finished the first chapter, and because I was so eager to develop some parts of the story, I naturally neglected entire chapters just because I wanted to get to some place specifically with the characters. It was abandoned around chapter 17 (chapters were very shorter though, around 700 words each).

Very recently I remembered that this existed and after re-reading it I wanted to stuff my head in the sand and never lift it up so embarrassed I was. My writing was childish (even though I was already 17), the characterization of our beloved characters was poor and I had gaps of months and YEARS in between chapters. After eight years I obviously changed a lot, so I decided to start over changing a little bit here and there and have a good solid foundation before actually putting it out there. Now this is something I am proud to show other people and earn it as the writer.

Enough about me, let's talk about my baby: Harry Potter and The Lost Prophecy.

A few alterations are made to the original story (the main one being about what parts of the prophecy Snape disclosed to Voldemort during the First War), a couple characters added but the main core and outcome tends to be the same. Also, I deliberately changed the point in time in which Dumbledore wears the cursed ring and gets poisoned. It takes place after the events of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, replacing both The Half Blood Prince and The Deathly Hallows. Therefore, this is gonna be a long fic.

You will notice this fanfiction is tagged as Hermione Granger/Severus Snape. If that's not your thing I honestly don't understand what you're doing here, but if it is, I must also warn you even though they are the main couple this work is centered around, it won't be solely about them. And we're even gonna have to wait a little while to see anything happening between the two as I have a lot to thread before getting there. I hope you find the wait worth the result.

It's also tagged as "adult" but smut is not gonna be around very often. In fact, I will try to stay away from it as much as possible as I never wrote porn before and am very scared of it (yes, I'm a 25-year-old sexually active woman, sue me). When it comes to it, there's gonna be a warning prior so you can skip the chapter if you wish, without losing anything about the main plot.

Ultimately, this is a piece of work I urged to do in honor of Severus Snape, a character hated by so many and very little explored (in my opinion) in the Harry Potter book franchise. So, we're gonna change a lot of events around him but I hope this can also give him more depth and layers that we will explore viciously throughout this fanfiction.

This is not a finished work, but I know the outcome of it. When I first had the idea that prompted me this fanfiction, I envisioned the end and the epilogue then worked my way backwards. In the eight years I carried this baby inside me I changed a lot of events in the middle of the story (we can discuss them as they happen) but now I am satisfied with how things turned out.

Last but not least, all of Harry Potter world belongs to JK Rowling, I own nothing. If I did, Severus Snape would've attended therapy and led a happy life learning from his mistakes. I am in no way, making money out of this.
